    2:25 -I think that's a Japanese officer. Or Nationalist Chinese (uniforms are similar with the collar tab placement).
    Thoughts?

    Italian canon fodder in Russia. Poor bastards. They were led by fools. There is a saying that Adolph Hitler was smarter than Benito Mussolini, but the Italians were smarter than the Germans. The reason was, the Germans believed in Hitler, whereas the Italians didn't believe in Mussolini. In the end, both fascist idiots were dead even before the was finished. The sad part is, the Italians were human, the Nazi were not, they were worse than wild beasts.
    Thanks to the Glorious Red Army for saving Europe.

    The Italian People entered at Second World II with several and serious contradictions and a mix of different and explosive emotions and with dilemma: Be or not to be, this is the question. So, and late the reality taught them something else completely different, that war is not just uniforms and parades.

    Though I have serious issues with Pius XI signing the Concordat with Mussolini in 29, one has to commend him for de-facto boycotting Hitler's visit to Rome; leaving the city for Castel Gandolfo during the visit and closing the Vatican Museum.

    • @sergiocostacouto3835
      @sergiocostacouto3835 5 років тому +3

      michael grech Pius XI left Rome on April 30th ; Hitler arrived on May 3rd. On May 2nd L’Ossservatore Romano published a little note explaining the Holy Father decided to anticipate his vacation for health reasons: “l’aria di Castel Gandolfo gli fa bene, mentre questa [di Roma] gli fa male”. Some months before the Vatican diplomacy made its best in order to avoid the passage of Hitler around the Vatican; at the end it was impossible to avoid him passing in front of Vatican Museums’ doors, in Viale Vaticano, but they had received orders to find an excuse and keep the museums closed. Cf. Giovanni SALE, Hitler, la Santa Sede e gli ebrei - con i documenti dell’Archivio Segreto Vaticano, Ed. Jaca Book (Milano 2004) 556pp. Some documents can also be found in the Italian diplomacy files. It’s interesting to see in the negotiations that some Italian authorities were more catholic and sincerely tried to cooperate with Pius XI’s desires, others - fascists (?) - worked in opposite direction and others were simplify trying to avoid problems for themselves.

      Dalton Agrônomo Si sabian luchar, pero la explicación de su fracaso es un poco mas compleja. Buscate Luigi Durand de la Penne, el comando italiano que hundió un acorazado en la bahía de Alejandría, altamente condecorado por ello. Dime que comando aliado hizo algo similar? Los fallos de Italia en la IIGM se deben a la mala planificación y hasta corrupción y complicidad entre el departamento de armamento y la industria. Compara esos carros que desfilan con un MK 2 Matilda britanico, o un Pzkw IV aleman y veras que ya se habian quedado atrasados. De hecho la FIAT tenia el contrato para proveer aviones de caza aun en 1940.....y era biplanos obsoletos CR-42!

      Your historical ignorance astounds me. the former royal army had a considerable percentage of victories. Among the most important victories we remember the war against the Ottoman Empire to obtain Libya, the triumph in the First World War, and the conquest of Ethiopia. The largest colonial expedition made by a European country.

He said that the WW2 Musolini's Italian military salute were "two hands raised up in the air." As for the Germans, my uncle said, he and his outfit took no prisoners, especially the SS ones.
