@thehappyhermit01 let's hope he keeps it going! Very difficult to go on long winning streaks with 25 blown saves! If he gets hurt or underperforms Then what? A strong bridge to Hoge ideally
Excellent show as always Mick, this isn't a knock on you whatsoever. Have I've been asleep two seasons?? When was Jesus Luzardo considered an ACE?? Mid mid prospect is the highest I go. Why another lefty and mostly why another question mark. Why are they even considering this? So draftkings can have a wager who gets more innings Boyd or Luzardo?
I usually start the day listening to your show unless you don’t make a video. Giving up prospects for high-end players like Tucker is always worth it. I thought I heard that Yankees and Cubs are $10 million away from Bellinger. That’s what I heard.
I would not be disappointed if Belinger stayed. One year ago everyone thought the contract he signed was a home run. He is the same player. He has the potential to be very good again.
Mick!!! Question❓ Shaw is LH and Busch is RH right? So if you keep Bellinger at 1B, could those 2 play 3B? Obviously Belly would spell Pca some at CF and Busch some at 1B so, same as with Suzuki/Tucker playing DH/RF in rotation. We can keep these guys bats on 🔥 all year. Owen Cassie also plays 1B some. Again, We are still not a Top 10 team in spending 💰 so we can add another superstar and a Great Closer and still have $$$ (If Ricketts allows Cubs $$$ to be spent on Cubs)
No Cassie for Luzardo. I will do Canario + Wicks. Luzardo is far from a sure thing, he is a high ceiling, high risk project. I would not give up top 5 prospect for him.
We are ✔️ cost on SPs for sure. At this point you would be taking Assad out of the rotation which to me would be dumb. Especially for a 4era guy you gotta overpay, or a guy who has been hurt in Seattle. Unless you have a team ready to trade for Tailion, which, guy has been a 2era Sp after a bad start here, he's become very good. Ben Brown or Wicks will go to the Bullpen and be very good imo. Assad like Wesneski idk. More a Starter. If they want a guy they should get a Verlander type. A guy who can compete for a spot cheap but Steele, Shota and the young guys learn off of. Who is that guy this year?
Jed is acting like a free agent player playing for his next big contract. Maybe it's Ricketts holding him back. But this is what we need to see from Jed every year.
Cubs today i think are leaning keeping Bellinger. Think lineup after w/Bellinger at 1B, Left after Suzuki Right after Tucker left after Happ Switch after Pca. Bellinger could be lethal this year in the 5spot. Gonna see alot of stuff over the plate. Means Busch/Shaw would platoon at 3B. But it teams are trying to hand BS prospects and say eat 15mil...Cubs are gonna keep Bellinger imo. Red Sox and Dodgers are now in it so. .you would think the Yankees would up their offer. I know to get their No 2 Sp back they wanted Wesneski included in the deal which helped in the Tucker trade. So once the Tucker deal happen the Yankees are upset they didn't get him and are offering wayyyyyy less than they was before.
I absolutely agree. As of now we don't have a backup 1b. IMO we can platoon shaw/Busch at 3b. Busch technically can serve as a backup infielder cuz he can also play second. We can rotate everyone to DH to keep them fresh. Belli Tucker and Suzuki is a good start to offense. I think we are going to sign Sasaki. It makes too much sense it won't cost alot and he has Suzuki and Shota to lean on. Alot of people say sign Alonso but he's not good defensively. Busch and Belli can pick it over there.
Cam IS going to be awesome. Not that it’s a bad deal. I like it. But to say he won’t be a star is pushing it. Dude was a 14th pick chief. He’s not a 14th rounder.
I really hope they aren't interested in Luzardo, unless they think he can stay healthy as a closer. And if they can get him for prospects who are not top-10 in the system.
I dont like the idea of a 4th lefty starter.. is someone (lefty) else getting traded? If Nico for Castillo doesnt work and they so send Bellinger away then they should just go after Flaherty.
If the Cubs don't resign Turner to an extended deal then it wasn't a good trade so you're losing Bellinger and Turner if this is the case, so next year will be like wow now what..
Cubs traded Bellinger for another 25 HR guy? Come on. Maybe we need to find a 40HR guy? Maybe we should try to get Robert from White Sox. He has the real potential for 40 to 50 if he can get healthy.
Luzardo would probably wanna come to the Cubs so he wouldn’t have to wear those ugly uniforms.😊 Sasaki has to know that the sooner he declares, the better it would be for the team he goes to. For example, the Cubs wouldn’t need to look for another starter, they could spend their money elsewhere, like for a 3rd baseman. Speaking of third, I’m wondering if Bellinger could play third until Shaw is ready. I bet he could. He’s a great athlete. I’d really like to see him stay myself. We have first base and right field covered. 3rd is the only place he could play if he stays. Besides, I really hate making the Yankees better.
Curious whether you have ever watched a major league game. If so please tell me the last left handed fielding third baseman you have seen play. If you didn't know Cody was left handed why are you even commenting here?
@@michaelbauch7005I bow to your superiority, Michael, that was a grievous error on my part. Sometimes my old brain can’t keep up, but it doesn’t mean I don’t love the Cubs. And baseball. I watched every Cubs game last year. I wonder if you’d talk to your grandfather that way.
@@michaelbauch7005 I did a little research Michael, and while it is true, left-handed third basemen is rare, there have been several, even Rizzo played an inning at 3rd. Search it on Google.
Thanks to you Mick for making this podcast... I watch every show here in Venezuela! Go Cubs!

If they do get this guy does that take them you of the running for Roki?

Gotta figure 2nd year in Belli calculations
Pass on Luzardo. His ERA is a full run higher than Assad. Brown back as a starter. Javier to the pen. He starts to struggle with the pitch count.
Cam IS going to be awesome. Not that it’s a bad deal. I like it. But to say he won’t be a star is pushing it. Dude was a 14th pick chief. He’s not a 14th rounder.
The hold up on Bellinger is the money on his contract. The Cubs don't want to take any of it on.
The Cubs already said they would.. the problem is Yankees want the Cubs to eat 10 millions a year, not 4 or 5. At that point, just keep Bellinger.
Please, please don’t trade Triantos or Caissie for Lazardo. I’m sorry but he’s not much of an upgrade over Assad…
Exactly right!
I really hope they aren't interested in Luzardo, unless they think he can stay healthy as a closer. And if they can get him for prospects who are not top-10 in the system.
Luzardo = NO
Castillo = NO
Gilbert or Kirby = YES
Buehler = YES
Lazardo isn’t an ace certainly not worth Cassie or Triantos
I dont like the idea of a 4th lefty starter.. is someone (lefty) else getting traded? If Nico for Castillo doesnt work and they so send Bellinger away then they should just go after Flaherty.
Is Jed having a come to Jesus moment?

I would much rather have Bellinger than Happ also.
Bote is going to the Dodgers
No doubt about it Mick, I’d rather have Belli over Happ any day. Giving him a no trade clause was one of Jed’s biggest mistakes to date.
Cubs traded Bellinger for another 25 HR guy? Come on. Maybe we need to find a 40HR guy? Maybe we should try to get Robert from White Sox. He has the real potential for 40 to 50 if he can get healthy.
Trade Happ and Keep Belli to Tag Team with Tucker would be Awesome plus A Quality Pitcher plus a Closer and that would Be Great
Why him if they want front line starter go after DYLAN CEASE
SIGN TANNER SCOTT!
Absolutely not…his numbers last year were awful and we don’t need another lefty good lord
Luzardo just flings the ball and mostly he dont have a clue where it is going. PASS
Luzardo would probably wanna come to the Cubs so he wouldn’t have to wear those ugly uniforms.😊 Sasaki has to know that the sooner he declares, the better it would be for the team he goes to. Just because he is a no. 1 starter does not make him an ace. Those numbers are at best a no.3.
Cubs need to impress me… go and get vlad!
Luzardo was good and got hurt. He was the opening day starter. I'll take him on a change of scenery
