As a developer i can say that the Games are less optimized because Shareholders are pushing to release the Game faster, because of technologies like DLSS or Frame Generation. The Games on PS5 are also not running how you except them too, obviously they won't run with 60 FPS, more likely they will run with 30 FPS. Thats why the PS5 Pro is the go to for Console Gamers.
That may be but it does not excuse abusing customers by releasing broken ports or ports that run worse than their console counterpart, at full price. If they're going to release broken games then either don't release them at all or charge significantly less for it. Like 5% of the console price. I wouldn't buy it even if it was that low.
Not buying and voting with our wallets is the strongest message we can send to developers and more importantly to publishers. It was one of the worst optimised games this (last) year.
@@HardwareAccent yes. Also I remember clearly Fallen Order had a lot of micro stuttering/freezing when it released. In fact it still does, even playing it on hardware a generation ahead of when it released. I’ve been gaming on pc since 2009 and the vast majority of pc ports I played since then until today have been really bad. The only advantage I see when it comes to pc gaming is that it allows you to play PAST generation games at higher frame rate and resolution. But for current gen games it always sucks. Unless you spend your inheritance on building a top of the line pc using greedy Nvidia hardware. That will be obsolete two years after. I think for the next generation of gaming, I will abandon pc and get a PlayStation. It will be cheaper by a factor of 3 at least, and I will have a better experience.
Devellopers are too focussed on increasinly good looking graphics, we have come to the point where you need 5x the GPU performance to make graphics look 10% better, devellopers should just make a game with good graphics and focus more on gameplay/optimization
Nah it’s more because modern titles come with very little graphical improvements yet they barely run on slightly older hardware. I have an rx 5600 xt (heavily ocd) and an i5 9400f. An older game with amazing graphics like RDR2 easily runs above 70fps at both 1080P and 1440p. Then a newer gen game like forspoken even though it has similar graphics at lower settings with slightly better foliage and textures gets me about 20-30 fps without using any sort of upscalers. The same difference can be found amount all sorts of games from the last of us which gives me about 60 fps to avatar that runs like poop and looks worse than the older games at low settings. If this is not an optimization problem then idk what it is. Games are not supposed to run only on top notch hardware.

There is this underlying assumption that games for consoles are optimized they are often barely optimized just to meet some arbitrary quota like 60 fps locked and that's it
Games on PC released by big publishers for years have been built console first and PC second, neglecting optimisation of any kind and just rushing it out door. Good optimisation isn't about using as little as possible on PC, it's about actually being playable and not having game breaking issues for so many games.
No. Good optimization is about using the least possible resources, while getting the most performance on all fronts out of it. Game companies don't do well with that anymore. It is possible to get a good framerate on older/weaker hardware, it has been done before... even without a dedicated graphics card! ua-cam.com/video/Vr4TPtow9lU/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared The example above is the Intel HD 4000 running AAA games from the same year it was released, and getting a playable framerate. Bear in mind that todays iGPUs are significantly more powerful, and SHOULD be able to get at least that level of performance (or really much better performance) with today's games... but they don't. The only thing they optimize in modern games is monetization! They will do it via making games grindy (and having Pay To Win "Pay To Progress" shit like boosters), Pay To Win microtransactions/DLC, rigging matchmaking systems (see below, SBMM does NOT exist in modern games - SBMM is a good thing, but is NOT used), etc. ...and of course online-only/DRM which means you have to pay the "rent" for the public servers to be maintained by the game company (otherwise they shut down), no mod support (you are forced to pay for new shit), heck, even by upselling shit that should of been included by default in the base game, etc. Engagement Optimized Matchmaking: web.cs.ucla.edu/~yzsun/papers/WWW17Chen_EOMM
