I had this exact same car. I was 26 in 1998 and I had just graduated college and treated myself to the best car I’ve ever owned. I ordered it and had to wait 6 months to getting, because GM was on strike and it sat on a trailer for 3 months. I ran the dog shit out of it. I never lost a single race and I even raced Trans Am Firebirds, everyone says they’re basically the same car, maybe I was just a better driver. Mustangs were never a problem. I would just tell them to take off whenever they want, I’ll catch up. I outran many State Boys. I had a guy at work say “nobody can outrun the law” and I looked at him and said “you can’t”? He said “ well, maybe in your car, but that’s it”. The best race I ever had was against this kid who had a 1994 Camarillo built to max! It was always close and he’d get me out of the whole, but I would eventually overcome him. We raced one night on my way out of town and with the same results. He turned and I honked and waved and I did the same. I read in the paper the next morning that he had wrapped his Camaro around a tree on his way home killing his passenger. I never felt the same about racing again and rarely did. I sold it after putting 150,000 miles on it, but I drove it everywhere and people loved it everywhere I went. I’m going to get me another one soon. I won’t be street racing though, but I might go a little faster than normal.
This car was a monster! Top muscle car of the 90s for sure. I remember dusting a twin turbo on the way to the beach. I was all stock! I let of the accelerator at 215 when I considered my life and the front end suspension. Swap out the front end for corvette and you got a smoother ride at 180 plus. Damn I miss this car!
Never been a fan of GM in general as I've purchased mostly Toyota & Lexus vehicles so far mainly for reliability but have always loved these Camaro's. These cars were my absolute fav twenty years ago when I started driving, the same time when this gen was just discontinued. I still prefer this gen over the current Camaro.
I just restored mine. I have a custom Brandy Apple red with a gold / silver metallic flake mix. Amazing custom color. I just ordered from a junk yard an SS spoiler to it which of course I will match color and mount it. I have it garaged until spring and will do the same video walk-a-round!!
My true love for the 4th Gen ends at 97 with the quad headlights, but now and then one really trips the trigger. This is a great looking car, the rims do it for it. So the Speedos broke, so what, it's a fix. What I love are all those of you criticizing cars like this while probably driving a Nissan Sentra that's two payments delinquent.
I bought of these when was 19 in 2002. Just thought it looked cool. Knew nothing about cars. Didn't hit the gas when I test drove it. Had no idea what was under the hood. Man, when I first got on it I was going about 20 mph right in the power band...WOOO! My young mind was blown! I My Dad thought I exaggerating(I had no reference point). He took it for a test drive, got back, he was in disbelief "that's a fast car son". Then my friend who was older drove(like all out hooning) it. He had owned a C5. He said It was just like driving his Vette. He couldn't believe it either. Man I beat that car to shit 🤣. Not only was it fast, the brakes were unbelievable. I would take my friends and family down this particular road i knew very well, smash the gas and get very, very close to the stop sign and just smash the brakes and watch them brace themselves and try and hit an imaginary brake pedal on the passengers side 😄. Such a blast to drive!
I had one, mine was red…best Camaro imo…only thing was the steering wheel felt so bulky and awkward and seemed to handle like the entire weight of the car was solely felt in the steering wheel…other than that loved it! Would spin out though on slick roads 😂
@@gbbnnrewilli3599 yeah😂it was a 02 SS☝️I got rid off it tho it had 186k. It drove good but it had problems 🙈. I basically bought it to flip it☝️ that's what I did. One of my favorite cars☝️ eventually I'll buy another one with low mileage tho

The Speedo was the LAST thing I recognized about this car. The weird part about this is I'm looking at this video about 3 years after the first time I saw it; back then I set out to buy one, 96 Z28...didn't know the difference until now while I just wrecked it (not my fault), this same car 98 Z is for sale near me. I think it's met to be!
I'm considering buying one of these on the used market can anyone tell me how reliable these are? Ill be looking for a used one in good condition with around 100k on odometer
Depends on if the previous owner took care of it. These cars are made to take a beating but you'll wanna check the oil and stuff like that. I've owned 3 and all 3 were running strong with almost 200k miles before I sold them.
Here in Atlanta it is soooo hard to find a 6 speed ls1 z28, and if you do they are going for 10k minimum. Where is everyone finding 5k ls1 6speeds cause I seriously want to know? Lol
oohmagawd i want this car so bad , but i hear it isn't the best in snow and i live in Chicago so it is a really tough decision for me get the car i really really want as my first car or a reliable one... ughhh
Get it man. I mean i have the car... But its the 3.8 v6. Really if you have any common sense at all then youll be fine on the road with snow or rain. But chicago with a big bulky car like this one will be annoying to park at times and blah blah. I live maybe an hour away from chicago so i get what you mean with the weather. But you cant go wrong with this car. Its beautiful
+Marquise Lewis im closer to rockford and i really really want one as my first to and its not to exspenive for a first car, where would you suggest going to buy one? just off creigslist orrr?

Must had been a prime era back then for these cars!
This sounds like you had such a great time being a young man in the 90’s. I was too young to enjoy the era. ‘91.
It's very easy to make a 4th gen look bad, and hard to get it good, but holy shit when it's good then it's one of the best looking machines ever.
Well said
In my opinion, this is the best body style of all the Camaros.... the SS and Z28 are by far the best 👍😎
Yes for sure
trippin
good but not at good as the first gen camaros
thanks babe this makes me feel a lot better about my 1998 z28😘
Because it was stolen from the Honda NSX

165
he punches it at 3:05 if you're wondering
The speed sensor needs to be changed other that that beautifull car. Rims are lil to big for my taste but it isn't my car, good looking car!
Sounds amazing looks super clean and I love the vette rims
Great cars. Buddy had the same one some years back and I loved the feel and ride better than I did my 2011 BMW 335xi.
What would you say was better about it than the BMW?

Your speedo is jacked up.
im a mustang fan but this car is awesome
love slp exhaust....sounds really good
that's a loud mouth exhaust right? Sound straight beast.....

you can pick one of these up pretty cheap doesnt have to be a dream!
Red??? I mean i know its a color that catches eyes but why get a ugly color like that, not good color for car paint tbh
Let's make these cars great again!!...!!!!
Yes!
Failing speedos seems to be a notorious GM issue with early 2000s & near. Love LS1 F-bodys!
It sounds really good with that SLP exhaust.
You might like the sound of my ss! It's on my channel
beautiful sound, beautiful car!
That was a fun ride!! I want one!
I love my 3rd gen with 383 swap with T56, but DAMN I miss my 4th gen too!

Round about looked familiar. Knew it was Ypsi the instant I saw the Geddes sign.
god i miss my car, its only 96 Z28 LT1 but i miss that sound. the car is down for the winter not driving it until spring

The only thing, coming from a Chevy owner, is the jumpy odometer. Other than that, beautiful car.. c:

Little high, I'd say 14-15k is a fair
hey do you have something going on with your battery connection the speedometer is going crazy

Beautiful and so clean
how much off because the speedometer don't work right?
Haha I know that area on geddes rd. in Ypslanti. Do you still have the car?
Whats size rims or those? They're corvette right?
Whattt idk if im not pulling hard enough but on my 1996 camaro z/28 I’m not able to pull my e brake that high

the corvette rims look great

it might beat a c4. but a c5(1997-) would wreck it.
