Nice fly. I was cracking up when you were imitating a sea trout.

Great video, I am now reading a very good book by Datus Proper called "What the trout said" I find it informative and very funny at times because he is writing the book from the perspective of the trout. When you did the trout imitation on this video it made me LOL because I happen to be reading this book. If you have a chance to read it, with your sense of humor you are going to enjoy it. You are truly entertaining and I always watch your videos even if I have no reason to tie that particular fly. You are so happy it spills out of you. It is infectious and I find myself laughing. Thanks for that, All the best, Sean

Just came across this today and found it interesting because I tied one the other day that had a similar tail as you had with silver chenille for the body(black eyes), and the only fish I caught was a sea trout surprisingly. Nice Fly!

    Hi,
very instructive video. I myself use and tye a lot of "Bugger" patterns, for sea trout and brown trout, and I find them most effective.
But my tying version is somewhat different from yours. Why not tye in the hackle "reversed" wise, i.e. with the stem at the head and spiral it backwards to countercross the hackle with the ribbing catching the windings of the hackle stem. This secures the hackle in a most safe way and makes it a very durable fly, indeed.

I have been laughing out loud since you mentioned sticking your finger in the superglue. There are tears rolling down my face and I have, as you can see, seen this video before! You should be a comedian. Bring your vise and do comedy. Your imitation of a pike in the last video I watched I think the Brenda. I just have to go to bed before I pop a vessel. Goodnight. Sean

Great looking fly[first cousin to a wooly bugger]I am curious as to why you did NOT counter wrap your wire rib;,wrapping in the same direction is[in my opinion] not nearly as strong as counter wrapping.greatly enjoy your musing on the thoughts of trout

Daer Earl you got a very good point. It can be stronger indeed, but when you turn the rib counter, what often happens is if you are not very carefull then you can undon the strength from the turning og the thread. so i find it is easy fast and strong to turn it the same way, but making sure it is not directly on the hackle but inbetween ;) Does this make any sense? ;)

I´m not trying to be cocky but your rib in this video wont help the hackle since you turned it the same way as the hackle.
It does not overlap and secure the hackle :) GREAT FLY!!

You are 100% correct. This is a mistake and you say true :)

this will ride hook down, just so everyone knows. those tiny chain eyes are going to turn that hook over, not enough buoyant material to make up the difference
