I know that feeling ohh to well I’m in the UK where I think we get it a lot easier than quite a few of the others in Europe but I even feel like it’s like I have had my personal rights taken away just to keep a small number of the public quiet. Then again that small amount of the public seem to be the ones that have a lot of influence on their sides in the form of big bank accounts. Anyway you have a beautiful day and stay safe and healthy fellow knife collector🫵👍
Neeves, thank you for teaching me about keeping a toothy edge instead of polishing everything to a mirror polish like i used to do. Makes a huge difference on performance
I de-assisted my S30V blur. Works really well. It has a regular detent ball and after slightly bending the lockbar, I managed to tune the action to a good point.

In my experience their speed safe knives are way better than their autos. I’ve owned several and the autos never lock up right but the speed safe knives are 100% reliable. That’s through a Blur, five Leeks, four Dividends and one Link.
Bang!!! I agree I have a 10 dollar 440 beater and a Kershaw blur but there another of assist knives that would be better as manuals with current detent slash action nowdays
I enjoyed the video. I'm a big fan of Kershaw and zt. I do wish Kershaw would bring back their older model USA made manuals. Like the JYD, Tirade, the Bareknuckle was a great manual. The Original Volt . Many more. Think they stopped making the cool USA models when ZT came around.
I appreciate this video and giving some attention to Kershaw. Yes, they do need to do USA made manuals. With the success of the Iridium, hopefully, they will do some. They have the experience for sure. Assisted knives don't bother me. Not everyone has dexterous fingers for flipping manuals, so they also serve a good purpose.
I still like autos. Long before autos were legal (in my area), assisted knives just felt like AUTO-LITE. Which is fine, it isn't my tea to drink. But, at the same time. Manuals did have that fidget factor, and proportions more suited to my daily tasks and hand size. Why have a leek, when I could have the crkt m-16 with both tabs and the auto-lawks? Drop shut washer action, fidgety spring loaded secondary lock, wave opening, a bunch of materials, and blade versions. Handles sized appropriately for work gloves the wave feature was also a positive handstop. We were taking fly cutters, and milling our own handles. Assisted always seemed like an extra step, for none of the fun factor. Auto or manual bliss. No half measures.
My introduction to knives was a Kershaw Blur someone left at a restaurant I worked at. After 13 years It’s been used to death, never been sharpened, missing screws and still brings joy to flick it out.
Neeves or Jared, dude the one of the best missed Link, Bareknuckle, Knockout and Skyline and Skyline in 20CV. I have them all without the Launch 1 and other Launches 4, 10...
Excellent review on the USA made Kershaws. I totally agree on sharpening CPM 154. I never go any finer than 400 grit, and don’t buff or strop the edge. Thanks Jarod!
Hey Jerad, you should checkout the Launch 20, it has Magnacut at 62-64 hrc and has a cool aesthetic. The blade shape is reverse tanto (but im sure you'd call it a sheepsfoot lol) and has marbled carbon fiber which helps with the slippery clear anodized "raw" aluminum handle and just overall is beautiful. This was my first USA made auto and magnacut blade, but now i want the 15!🔪🔥
I like my kershaw blur a lot I have the same version it’s a fantastic knife that’s sharp out the box, tight tolerances and great ergonomics. What’s his problem with assisted knifes?
I wish I could watch your videos. I’m not trolling, or trying to imply anything negative, but the way you do your reviews gets me very dizzy when watching. The camera is zoomed in too closely and you move very fast. You talk with your hands as well so it’s difficult to even get a good glance at the knife. It’s constantly moving very fast in the frame and it’s very nauseating.
Guess i don't understand the assisted hate while simultaneously loving autos. I'm failing to functionally tell any difference. I have both and honestly it's just whatever flavor I'm feeling for the day but who cares if the deployment is an assisted flipper or a spring loaded button ...

It holds an edge pretty good but I try n keep her sharp enough to shave with. Just wanted to throw a 👍's up to Kershaw and a shout out to your channel 😎🍻✌️👋
Pretty cool video, I don't think I have seen an American Kershaw video this thorough before. Glad to see Kershaw kind of making their way back into the area of appealing towards collectors. For the longest time they seemed to be stuck in the mud similar to CRKT and Gerber, and really only focused on budget models that appeal to regular people and not knife enthusiasts and collectors. But with the Livewire release and a couple of their new autos and dura-lock knives, they seem to be at least heading in the right direction again. FYI the Launch 16 unfortunately only comes in the serrated variant. Don't know why they won't do a plain edge version🤷♂
I got the Launch 8 in matte blue CF inlay, not for EDC, it's just BAD ASSSSS. Have the Link, the Blur, and another USA one but not sure the name anymore. I think maybe it's a Link as well, one's green the other blue.
If Kershaw got away from all the autos and assisted designs I think more actual knife guys and gals would buy. Until then they just feel like they are for your mall ninja teenagers or people just getting into the knife world. They seem cool until you want to fidget with them or need to open and close them frequently and then you realize you have to two hand close your favorite kershaw 90% of the time. IMO, they are great entry knives but I’ve also come into some serious issues when sharpening, their steel seems overly soft on the last 3 I owned and I haven’t gone back to kershaw since.
still having my older kershaw barrage, basically a salvo but completely blacked out and limited to 400 pieces. basically impossible to find nowadays. love the older american kershaws, i'm sure the newer ones are great too, but sadly most are speedsafe oder completely auto and thus illegal where i live.
I love your videos but strongly disagree that Buck knives are outdated. If I could only have 2 knives, they’d definitely be the Buck 110 and 119 because they have been around for decades and still the same design. They’ve proven if it ain’t broken don’t fix it.
Thanks for sharing bud!👊🏻I’ve got almost every USA made kershaw minus the cali legal sizes and they do a great job for the price but I do agree I would love to see some manual USA made knives from them that would be amazing. They did great on the barenuckle I thought so I’m sure they would do a great job if they did.
I sold my launch 1 as quick as I bought it. Stupid things blow open so quick they just want to jump out of your hand. There's no reason for that, no point, and it's clearly not beneficial to functionality as shown. I feel the whole launch series is a novelty and a fad. I personally can't grasp disliking speed assisted models.
Do you think button locks are safe for self defense, for example? I always thought you did accidentally hit the button and the knife would close at the wrong moment.
Do u sharpen serated edc knives the same way as non serated knives, also do u have any videos on how to sharpen edc blades don't know wat I'm doing and hate that, know u do 20 degree knife stright up n down then half that then half that like u said on ur videos got deka, qsp penguin, pyrite, Kershaw all lower blade steels aus 8, d2, an magnacut
When I first started buying Kershaw knives they were all Ken Onion designs and I still have all of are engraved with a year and the month bring the late 1990s they stop doing
The nice thing about the Blur is that it has a detent hole in the blade and detent ball on the liner. It can easily be deassisted and works well without the torsion bar.
I have the USA made Kershaw Link in 20cv and a Leek in cpm154 with copper scales, both great knives but I tend not to use them because of the speed safe assist. To me, having the blade explode open in your hand seems less safe than manipulating the blade yourself. But meh, different people like different things. Edit: I'm definitely gonna have to pick up the Launch 8, that thing is sweet, also the Livewire.
I hear you there. I think a lot of folks who buy them are new to knives. I was, and back then I didn’t know manual folders could open so easily, so these were like a loophole around the Automatic laws. And I didn’t know where else to buy knives except the sporting goods store & Walmarts.
Say what you want about Buck. They are a fine American company and make some excellent knives. Same goes for Case. Let’s keep it positive regarding American companies. Love the content btw.
I agree they are, but as someone that touches almost every knife going into production if they don't start picking up the pace on making quality modern knives they will be considered the MTech knives of USA as far as there folders go, trust me I want to applaud them vigorously, but my job is to be honest with the community about the products
I am so with u on the need of an under $100 USA made knife with 14c. I have been looking for some gift knives made in USA that r not just trash but r 75ish. I would buy a lot of them for corporate gifts.
i jsut picked up the dividend in magnacut and i love it but man it could have been so much better.... i cant stand assisted knifes... i wish kershaw would listen to customers and at least offer some of their nicer models without the assisted crap. i like the magnecut in the dividend but jesus i hate the assisted function still. seems like all the ones i would buy are always assisted....
What steel do you like better in kershaws, 20cv or magnacut. I need to buy either another kershaw link that got thrown away at the airport or i want to buy a kershaw launch 7 gaylean in magnacut. I plan on having both eventually but i just jeed 1 good edc knife as of now. I would appreciate your input because of your experience with both steels in the kershaws.
I would say magnacut, I've seen good hrc tests from them on 20cv yet the knife did not lead to the best edge retention and typically companies run the 20cv on the softer side they are doing pretty good with magnacut
Combo blades are the most versatile. If you, as a knife reviewer don’t see that, you need to carry a combo blade, and use it hard. Can’t even tell you how many times the combo serration were clutch when I neglected my plain edge portion.
@@NeevesKnives. When talking about the Launch 16, you stated your preference for an all serrated, or all plain edge. You said “I guess a combo edge could be useful”. Since we are guessing, it means to me you’ve never tried one. I’ve carried the same Benchmade 910 in a combo edge for 22 years, and I can confirm for you, that it is very useful.
It may not be a Kershaw knife but Sharp Knives OKC got an exclusive Tactile Knife Co Maverick in Black Dunes Fat Carbon Fiber. 50 were made and they are still in stock. I got one today and it's sick!
Great video Jerad, love the video. I love the Kershaw Leek, wish it wasnt assisted and The Launch 1 is a good looking knife. I wish Kershaw would watch this video and read the comments. Assisted knives in 2023 is suspect in my opinion. Protech Excluded
I have the launch 14 and the blade isn't supposed to do that when new. I am able to hold down the button forever and it doesn't effect the blade from dropping until I repress the button. This is my favorite auto knife from Kershaw
I would love for Kershaw to convert some of their Classics to Manual knives with KVT bearings and good steel. That would enlarge their customer base a LOT, for all the countries states and regions where Assisted and Autos are illegal (which is most of the world).
I haven’t seen the 16 in non serrated, I too hope it comes soon. Definitely want the live wire and the 15, I think you got dud 14 I’d like to see you use a good one.
All you have to do to deassist one of the speed safe kershaws is take the torsion spring out of them. Makes the ones I have done pretty good little manual knives. One of the ones I did was a scallion in 14c28n. With the recurve on those blades they cut way above their weight class imo.
Great, solid summing up vid. Launch 10 rules, the spring is so strong and this hawkbill looks so wicked - one of my most favourite knives. Launch 16 is dope too tho 🤗

Kershaw always has a spot in my heart.i think for alot of us our first actual good knives was a kershaw.
Mine was the grinder. Spring assist, reverse tanto, but crappy steel. Ergos were impeccable though.
Same. Picked up an OD Blur at Walmart for less than half of what they’re going for now as my first reputable knife.
I WANT THEM ALL!!!!
I will say, balisongs tend to cost more than other knives in the same materials. Tolerances have to be pretty spot on in order to not cause problems
I'm looking at Kershaw livewire double edged. But would like a 4 inch blade, anybody know where I would find an otf with 4 inch blade.
Not my cup of tea. Europe isn't friendly to assisted knives.

I did a couple of scallions that the safeties broke on. Works surprisingly well.
Works well on a couple older ZTs too… the 0770, 0350 and the 0566 are a few with a detent ball/hole

They left out the Dividend, Link, and Bareknuckle. Surely they didn’t discontinue these great knives.
I was going to ask, what about the Kershaw Iridium ?
Have had blurs from get go best edc for years never let medown
Too bad they discontinued the Knockout. That was one of their best knives ever, even if it was an assisted opener.

@@NeevesKnives awesome, thanks for letting me know I appreciate the feedback. I will get their launch 7 in magnacut soon.
Just bought one
Thought it was
The box says Designed
In USA BUT MADE IN CHINA. IT'S GOING BACK
Which one? They make both usa made knives and Over sea

Combo blades are the most versatile. If you, as a knife reviewer don’t see that, you need to carry a combo blade, and use it hard. Can’t even tell you how many times the combo serration were clutch when I neglected my plain edge portion.
Did I say something against them?
@@NeevesKnives. When talking about the Launch 16, you stated your preference for an all serrated, or all plain edge. You said “I guess a combo edge could be useful”. Since we are guessing, it means to me you’ve never tried one. I’ve carried the same Benchmade 910 in a combo edge for 22 years, and I can confirm for you, that it is very useful.
Great choice of content OG..I was not aware of so many USA made kershaw knives
It may not be a Kershaw knife but Sharp Knives OKC got an exclusive Tactile Knife Co Maverick in Black Dunes Fat Carbon Fiber. 50 were made and they are still in stock. I got one today and it's sick!
I'm excited to watch this! I'm especially looking forward to seeing how you like the M4 on the Launch 16!
Dang, Blade Ops came in clutch with this vid. Wonder if In the future you can do this with other companies.
