  • Is Jett Lawrence even better than the lofty expectations already set for him? Jason Weigandt walks and talks around The Wick 338 after a wild day of racing on New England's famous sand track. Plus, a chat with local Jimmy Decotis, who came out of retirement and logged the faster lap in qualifying. That's Southwick for ya! It's presented by DID Chains and DID Dirt Star Rims. What drives you? Well, you should select the same stuff that Lawrence kid uses to sweep the 450 class so far this summer.

    Yeah Weege... how do you know my schedule? Again today, I sit down here in Tokyo, this time 8pm... and bingo... Weege show!
    Bummed for Hunter... but DOES make it so interesting, as 450 class title hunt seems already over. But LOVED seeing Masterpool and Marchbanks in the top ten. Tom as first overall, awesome too!
    Jimmy D and the local guy in 450 in the top ten. All good stories!
    Oh Weege, you guys didnt mentionj Marchbanks came form 30-something back up to tenth in Moto one. That WAS THE RIDE of the day in both classes.

    Witty, informative, uplifting and so entertaining. You are the best at what you do and we (MOTO NATION) so appreciate it....Keep rocking the infotainment, and yes Jett and Hunter are faster than the rest (see results), I personally believe it's their new riding style (see balance beyond belief, trials style balance and standing up allowing the bike to go faster) we have NEVER seen the likes of, ;) KONO....(like Tiger raised the bar in golf, the Lawrence's will also raise that bar in MX)

    I agree with JS7 that Jett looked way more spent after 2nd moto than Chase. Imo, I think it's more about Jett taking smoother line choices and/or the fastest lines in a lap. And the next thing Jett is doing better is not overriding the track/his chosen lines. The third thing would be a combo of techniques... he flows with the bike rather than fighting it... soaking up every bump and jump and using his body English to disperse the brunt of impact to the bike from said bumps & jumps. It's not ability, speed, or fitness imo... I think it's that the older 450 riders except Chase... are from a different era where everyone was riding similar and more focused on bike setup as to their performance. Ryan Hughes has been aware of this for some time. You can see it in his young rider Noah Viney. And I'm curious to see how his coaching will help Austin Forkner. Back in 1983, I was a podium kid in the 12-15 Mini A in FL and podiumed Mini O's in TT & Mx toping LaRocco/Emig/L Ward/Kyle Lewis, 10th OA at Ponca w a 3-4-8 (Emig got 9th in final moto right behind me). That year on 80's was when everyone started preloading, tapping our rear break in the air, and soaking up the bumps & jumps to be less impact of energy to our bodies. I remember like it was yesterday. We Florida boys all kinda just looked around at the fast kids like Ronnie Tichenor, Keith Turpin, Brad Kadau, Gary Paul, Vince DeVane... And we figured it out. Jett reminds me of this time... He's obviously got some great coaching from O'Show, probably the Goat, and whoever else... But Jett is bringing back the flow... McGrath had it, LeChien, O'Show, Jean Michell Bayle, David Bailey, and our local bad a$$ Vince DeVane all had that flow... some guys I remember that had it at Mini O's were Bobby Moore, Tommy Watts, Lowell Thompson all had some flow... But maybe it's a generational thing? Maybe so much in life all thrown at the kids... Not sure.. Danger as an Amateur was more pushing through the track than flowing. But I can see in this phenomenal rookie season he's having as the weeks go by, that Danger is in fact learning this valuable skill of flow!!! Maybe Jett will continue to dominate Chase & Dylan... Maybe Chase will figure it out, which to me in his case is more line choices, and where to push and not push... and Chase needs to get his mental game more fortified... But I think it's going to be Danger to come up on the Lawrence Bros... and maybe if anyone will challenge the Lawrence bros other than Danger, it will be Kitchen, Shimoda, JC, or another young gun... But unless some of these older 450 dogs start learning new tricks, I don't see any 450 guys other than Chase & Dylan, maybe Masterpool with a Factory 450 ride... beating Jett straight up... Jett knows all of this... and why you can bet he'll be pushing his own limits and finding every fraction he can save time on around the track... no matter what we all think... SX & MX has gone up a few levels and time for anyone who wants to make a race out of it to step up! Braaap!!! ✌😎🏁 Wear what's reaL!

    Might be? Whether or not injuries prevent Jett in the future from achieving records he has clearly already set a bar that likely will never be seen again in our lifetimes. Honestly, since Bob Hannah dominated the late 70’s nobody has demonstrated the ease to which Jett has been able to accomplish already. He literally appears to be on a Sunday cruise with his technique! Sure Carmichael and Stewart were fast, but half of the time they looked like they could be holding a yard sale at any second and often did!

    Proof that a person who has varied experiences can handle adversity well. Jett. Ant joke with Dillon in French, laugh, asks questions about the gate. His intelligence is remarkable. Look at the posture of chase. Turned away, dejected ..

    The AMA should not use first qualifying as the gate picks for the moto's! The track is not even close to getting like the first moto times. Jimmy DeCotis is a good rider but 1st qualifying time of 2:06.592 and 2nd time 2:14.610. 1st moto 2:19.811 and 2nd moto 2:24.533. Justin Cooper 1st qualifying time 2:06.810, 2nd qualifying time 2:11.682. 1st moto 2:13.094, 2nd moto 2:17.485. I'm Just Saying! Great Racing, Weege and JS7 should be the regular commentators! It really is too bad that so many 450 riders are hurt or not competing in MX. Jett would probably still dominate but gotta think it would be a little tougher, maybe not with the way he's able to get out front so early. Looking forward there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of potential newcomers that could beat him. His brother might be like a Ferrandis or Chase. Deegan is quite a few years away from the 450's but maybe he's one. Doubt Hampshire who made his debut on a 450 and rode well will push Jett but I doubt it. Jett is good, really good! I just don't want to see a 450 class be similar to when he was riding the 250 and there was no competition.

    • @xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
      @xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Рік тому +1

      Yeah a lot of ppl comment how this is a weak 450 season and Jet ain't that good, but I have a suspicion he could beat anybody right now. I think the test will be once Chase gets back in shape over the 2nd half of the season. If Jet is still burying a healthy and fit Chase, then he would also probably be beating Eli.

    • @Degenerate124
      @Degenerate124 Рік тому

      No shot Jett dominates if tomac didn’t get hurt or even if sexton didn’t get hurt and was off the bike for a month.

      @@xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxhe hasn’t beat a fully healthy chase yet this season. Chase got hurt before the first race and then hurt again and was off the bike which makes a big diffeence at this level. Tomac and chases pace last season vs chase this season is night and day different.
