Phil 🏍️ 🇨🇵 gsxr 1000 r.

I always camp at Ballacottier camp site, which is a nice walk away from hillberry corner, and I'm surprised they mentioned Hillberry here, but yeah, I have never lacked anything watching there, it's perfect

bottom of keppel gate by Kate's Cottage is an unreal spot and not very well known! bikes brake right up against the wall and you are literally within a hands length of the bikes!

    Open question to everyone.
I will be coming to the TT in two years...well that's the plan.
If I am able to do this I would prefer a spot where I can eat, drink, be close to the course as in oh crap arms reach kinda thing with a comfy spot to just sit, relax and enjoy myself and the folks around me.
Since I will be coming from the US this whole trip will most likely cost me up to 8-10 K I'm figuring, and at my age this is the bucket list item that I have chosen. I have chosen the TT over going to Le Mans since group C is really where 'it' was at for me and most of us know what happened with that. The hybrids are ok...just not the same for me. Any advice, pointers and such will be deeply appreciated!
Thanks to you all for your time in this matter and may each of you have an exceptional 2019!
    Thank you...Michael.

Hi Michael. When you say you want somewhere to eat and drink, do you mean somewhere with a burger van/pub or just somewhere you can lay on the grass with a picnic?

      @@alexchapman2425 Good point sir.
Thank you for pointing that out :). Yeah a pub like environ for sure ideally with a hotel or a 'room' of some sort would be great, even if I had to take a stroll for a couple of blocks to get to the TT from my lodgings would also be great. ;)
But pub availability and services for sure...with of course the aforementioned nearness to the speed.
Thank you very much Alex for taking your time to answer my question. May your day sir be most splendid!
      Wish me luck...Michael

@@michaelslack5269 you will probably struggle to find a pub with rooms available now, or indeed any guesthouse/bed and breakfast. However there will be plenty of campsites available. The Crosby pub is a good watering hole and viewing spot. The bikes are doing 180+ past there. Bottom of Barregarrow is my favourite viewing spot but without your own transport you may struggle to get there. And of course there is the bottom of Bray Hill for the speed and amenities but get there early!! I'm staying in Crosby this year so I may catch you in the pub. Have a great first TT!!

You could try Ramsey as a good base. Smaller than Douglas with a good selection of pubs and viewing points. The bikes are a lot slower through there so although the views are restricted it does make for an exciting experience.
As for accommodation, as far as I know the place is fully booked months in advance so get your booking in asap. You could also try AirBnB as there's plenty of room lets that don't appear on normal booking sites.
Ramsey also has the electric tram down to Douglas so it gives you access to several other viewing points, eg. switch at Laxey to get onto the Snaefell tram and you can stop off at Bungalow, which is in my opinion the absolute best view point on the whole course if the weather permits. Take a picnic, sit underneath the Joey Dunlop memorial and it's biker heaven with lots of dedicated biker fans around you...but Bungalow is not luxury. A burger van and a porta-loo are all the facilities you should expect.
Given your budget the world's your oyster. You might even be able to hire a motorhome in England, get the ferry over and pick your spot. Alternatively, if it were me, I'd hire a bike so you can at least ride the course. You won't believe how impossible the racing speeds are until you've ridden it yourself.
Good luck and hope you have an amazing trip. If you luck out with the weather it will be a trip of a lifetime. The Isle of Man is incredibly diverse for such a small place and it's well worth taking a few extra days to explore it outside of the race days (hence why hiring a bike is a good idea).

I would have to disagree with some of these suggestions. Grandstand?, Braddan bridge?, the bungalow?, Really??? What about Barrgarrow, 11th milestone, Glen Helen, Handleys, Ballacry, Quarry bends, Milltown, Black hut, etc etc.

bazzalad2101 ! Like we said in the video, it could easily have turned into a Top 20 or 30! We had to select a mixture of locations for accessibility, amenities and whether the visitor had been to the TT before. Good suggestions though. Cheers, MM

I would disagree because where is the Creg Ny Baa? It is by far one of, if not the most popular spot to watch from. It also has excellent facilities, food, parking and mainly great viewing angles. So why didn't you include it?

    • @bennettsbikesocial

Like I said in the video Nathan, we could have easily offered a Top 20 or 30 because there are so many great places but we decided on a selection suitable for TT virgins as well as the more experienced visitor as well as mix of amenities and accessibility. Creg-ny-Baa was a tough one to leave out for sure. Cheers, MM
