Not sure about the battery swaps because batteries are in limited supply and this system requires extra batteries. This is why Tesla has charging and not battery swaps - but I still wish this company every success because I love electric transportation!

Tesla has charging and not battery swaps primarily because a car battery weighs hundreds of kilos, so cannot be swapped out by hand or with a simple handcart. At the time of Ben's reply there was a shortage of both the microchips and the metals used in EV batteries. This was most acute for Cobalt, which Ampersand batteries do not use. There are companies in China that are now doing battery swapping in China for cars. Although battery swapping requires more batteries than vehicles, the utilisation of the batteries themselves is the same - users can just ride more rather than waste time recharging.
