I just found one for 2 bucks at the local flea market. Looks new so I picked it up and impressed it still works with no cap issues. Glad I came across this, enjoy these old radios.

This radio made into the show Night Court. It was Dan Fielding's Radio. Saw it in one of the first episodes. The first series from the 1980's. imgur.com/Xn0xSWH

@@todderbert Very nice spot :) I didn't know this tv show. Never heard of it here in Europe.
I'm going to listen to it this evening, sound is quite good, and I like the hi/low sound filter switch. We don't find that very often.

Got mine at the Salvation Army for $1.98 and just needed to put a new 9 volt battery lead on it. Not too beat up and works amazing

Nice radio, great review! I just picked up one on Ebay for $19.99 in great condition, but no box. FYI, this model number first appeared in the 1982 catalog. In 1976, it was the 12-662, 1980 = 12-710, 1981 = 12-713

First radio I had was a Realistic AM. There was an Allied Radio store within walking distance.so as a kid I went there a lot. I remember when the name changed. A lot of their stuff was pretty good, some, excellent.
That’s a really nice looking Radio.
During the last hurricane here in Florida, my power was out 6 days. No batteries available anywhere ‼️
None of the stores were out.....except 9 volt batteries.-- SO, I decided then, to get at least one really good radio that could be used for DXing when power is out.
    I have a really nice G.E. (NOS) am/fm “ Headset “ Radio, with actual headphones 🎧
From the mid ‘80’s sounds great but not the best reception.
You’ve got a real find there.
    👍📻👍

Thank you, these older radios are growing on me. I have had some real duds, but I have learned how to recap and test them. So I saved my little Juliette, and she remains a charmer. This radio is just amazing. I have a GE radio coming in, and another Magnavox to review. I want to learn radio repair to help me fix some of these duds. Thanks for watching Jeff!

Back when I had that, the "BEST" option in the catalog after GOOD (12-635A) and BETTER (12-602), my main impression was that the tone control was a nice "luxury" feature, but the volume couldn't get as loud as the others without distortion. I remember the other selling point was that it had an IC in it. Very Impressive. Or not. Gotta say, the GOOD radio was probably my favorite then and my parents still use it now.

Hey Todd, how do I look up your name on the Amazon app, and not the website?
