I was going to back this kickstarter but at the time was going through some financial difficulties. I still want to get it. Thank you for sharing this.

Great video, thank you! To your point on the pdf price, I think MCG is justified in charging what they charge for it. In an ideal world each player would buy a copy, and maybe then they could charge less. But the more likely scenario is one person is going to pick up the player pdf and either share it with everyone, or print off a bunch of player's guides.

I got a chance to play Numenera last year. I enjoyed the Cypher system, though I don't feel like we played long enough for me to experience everything it had to offer. The idea of cyphers, though, I've looked at bringing into other games, particularly DCC. It's not like one-time use magic items are a totally new thing, but I liked how they worked in Numenera.

I 100% agree about black text on light background. If the book is not easy on the eyes it is not worth buying. Even if it’s a great book it’s too distracting to focus on

You must be completely insane to touch this book with your own blood. Was nice meeting you....

Stopped doing kick starters because they take years to ship a product.

I have the pdf since a while. I late pledged it at the Delver in the Dark (highest) level. They don the unnecessary things that you have to redeem it over their shop instead of sending it direct. Some things are available but all, especially the limited cover edition comes a bit later, so i just collect them before "buying" them, so i only have the shipping once (and the experience is nice to have a big box to open).
    - Would I back lower after all? yep, but some stuff i couldnt resist. well, it was one of the first and u learn how to not fomo only after falling for it.
It is tempting to say I expected more when u know the System already (which i do from Numenera), but it is solid. I decided to pledge after all as I live lovecraftian stuff, even if i dont know the podcast its based on. it has its own charm and it will be an interesting read.
    - the 2 included scenarios sound interesting, the write ups of the location sound cool, i like the flair of the different foci. and its cool that they included character goals (original from Invisible Eye, but might be officially part of the Cypher System now). it is a great mechanic, its fits well here.
    - btw i can give my thoughts of the whole package here in future when i have if interested.
now more to your vid: i dont listen to podcasts at all. not cause i dont like them, but limited time and with my adhd I just cant focus at all. to just even listen the few actual plays i follow its tough as nails for me (only when doing dailies in eso or cooking mostly)
    - for people that dont know the cypher system. it doesnt has classes or levels. tiers can be upgraded, but it is not the main point, just an option
helpful to use the sentence they do: you are an adjective noun who verbs aka a descriptor who focus.
type is your link to the story, what you AM. descriptor is the flavour of that or HOW u do it. focus is WHAT u do or what you do best in your role.
the cypher system is probably one of the easiest systems to grasp. i dont jest when i say you can learn/teach its basic in less than 5min. even with special cases tops 30min. and its very narrative and player based. the GM doesnt roll anything. you have a lot of freedom yet drive to do what you want.

I've been mulling over whether to delete this video. I posted it knowing very little about the game, but being very interested and wanting to learn. Since posting this video, I've been constantly attacked by a group of fans of the podcast for essentially having innocent ignorance about a product and the podcast. As if it is a defect for someone not listening to a podcast or needing to learn how to pronounce the name of a region correctly. And now I want nothing to do with this game, or the podcast. I'll be selling this book shortly and never covering it on the Channel again. Congratulations, I guess? If your emotional intelligence is so low that you attack people for being imperfect and curious, you aren't going to maintain your fandom. It's that simple. If you're here to post some snide remark about how you don't like the manner in which I give a game free press, don't bother. You will just be "hidden from Channel," which means that no one will ever see your comment. You also won't be able to comment on any of my other videos. My parents taught me that you play kind with people, or you don't get to play. Whatever particular trauma has caused you to aggressively target people on the internet, you need to get some help. Reflect on your anger. Get some perspective on the impact of your words. Ultimately, the joke is on you. This is one of my top performing videos, and every time one of you jokers comes here to beat me up, you are just elevating the video. And that is why I likely won't delete it. It is making me money that I can use to make more content you hate. Yay!

The old Apple-Atcha pronunciation? ;-) In any case, I bought the book as well. Will most likely plunder for ideas elsewhere but I like, nay, love the overall vibe. Don't let anyone push you away from it.

Isn't the fact you're reviewing something you don't know much about in sone ways a good thing becauseyou wont be biased one way or another? If you like the book, might that not then make you want to check out the podcast or other materials toxic Fandom aside? I don't really understand gatekeeping fans. Personally I think it awesome when new people show interest in what I love.

I urge you to reconsider. It is a fantastic game. And the folk who make the podcast are genuinely good people who push understanding, compassion, and love. They have a deep love for the region and are from there, themselves. Please do not let idiots on the internet dissuade you from enjoying a good thing.
