This number system conversion video will let you understand the basics of the conversion algorithm. To convert from decimal to binary we need to divide the whole part by 2 and consider the quotient. For the fractional part we have to multiply the fractional part by 2 and consider the whole part. Similarly, for decimal to hexadecimal conversion we take 16 instead of 2 and for decimal to octal conversion we take 8.
