  • 1946 Schwinn Excelsior frame, custom. Hand made tank, for and jackshaft, V-belt drive with centrifugal clutch. Approx 30 mph right now. It will be getting torn down for completion this Winter. Full build at www.ratrodbikes.com under builds.
    Chinese engines are garbage.

    I saw this bike in a hot rod magazine and it inspired me to build one of my own. Awesome bike!

    The fan shroud comes on these engines from the factory because they are meant to be on equipment that is staitionary/slow moving. Once you put this engine on something moving 30mph the wind provides all the cooling that you will need.

    I'm 5'10". The bike is small, but was built to look proportionate to the wheels. Something many builds lack, but at the cost of a smaller bike.

    F-n sweet. Beautiful bike. Just picked up worksmen bike and 1953 briggs and stratton. Let the games begin.

    I found it at an antique shop in Southern, MN. I ave since discovered it's a factory Briggs and Stratton part! I love 'em!

    It's an Excelsior. 26" balloon tire frame with 24" Surly rims. It still has the original head badge. I cut the down tube and shortened the seat stays. There is a build on ratrodbikes

    These guys was nuts bike then doing 107 mph around those huge board tracks and then the risk of getting impaled by giant sword sized splinters from you wrecking or the guy Infront of you wrecks, and really the first board track bikes was literally just a bicycle with a little motor on it that would do 80 mph was the first board track motorbikes before they started becoming more like a motorcycle

    This fella speaks the truth! Although I do have a new head being made with taller fins going inline with the bike. I'm still working out the little kinks.

  • @BeauDirt1
    @BeauDirt1  11 років тому +1

    Hahaha I will. I'm aware of what I'm riding, and know my limits. I have tons of miles on it and and not one cut. I don't let other people ride it. It's mine. I built it for me. I had the fins removed from the flywheel. If the chain does come off, it shoots down into the ground. I wear a helmet and goggles if that makes you feel better.

    The engine is a 3hp Briggs and Stratton that I modified. I'm getting a new head made for it this Winter with taller, inline fins. I'm 5'10". It's small.

    It will get hot on 90* days in traffic with lots of lights, but all the vehicles around me do that too.

  • @BeauDirt1
    @BeauDirt1  11 років тому

    Indeed. The original engine I was going to use was a lot nicer looking. I spent a fair amount of time dressing it up, but a week before the show I tried to ride it and the little engine wouldn't pull. The death trap engine I have on there was put on a week before the Bearded Lady Motorcycle Show.

    Without shrouds it looks cool but sure doesn’t run cool the fan on the flywheel and shrouds are how it cools itself ..

    I spend my money on tools, not cameras. I really need to find a better set-up. I shot this for a build on a forum so people could see how it worked.

    I can see how you wouldn't want a big industrial looking fan shroud, but uh, that thing looks dangerous. If it does happen to chew you up in a crash, eat your shoelace, bind up in your pant leg or remove a finger, be sure to post some video of it.

    They are Surly Large Marge mountain bike rims. They are the smaller, 24" rims. They are double wall and very strong. surlybikes com

    Why are you running the motor without the fan shroud/pull start?! It's liable to cook itself without it!
