I left the big city of Toronto to move onto 40-acres of Canadian wilderness with a magical river. I am building an off-grid homestead with multiple log cabins and structures from the timber on the land.

JAMES ALOFS
When I was little Saturday morning cartoons were a part of my weekends, and now I look forward to Wild Homestead uploads! Keep posting James, and we'll keep watching.
was exactly my reason for being up early today. 👍
Hanna-Barbera forever 😉🙏💜
@@kristennoelle9447 yes!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH GOOD SIR DARLING! 🫡🤝⚡️🌲🐺
@@wildhomestead How did you hurt your right hand?
I enjoyed your visit with Oliver soooo much!! I've watched Off Grid Island since it's beginning and I've been watching your channel for at least 6 months, if not more. Your hour and a half video recapping your grand adventure was great for me because I had missed quite a bit of your beginnings. Thank you for that! Clovis has gotten so big and I'm sure he has a lot more growing to come. He's such a cutie pa-tootie. Can't wait for next Saturday's video! Take care & stay warm (it was 74 here in North Carolina yesterday, but back to cold today!).
So glad you've mentored Oliver. He will go home with so much more confidence and knowledge. He was like a different person. From England UK X
When you said weeks ago someone from Finland, my first thought was, Oh it would be so cool if it was Oliver and here we are two of my favorite UA-cam people on 1 video!!!
LOL , i saw videos from Off-Grid-Island long a time ago, then i found Wild Homestead and now they all together :D
Clovis is growing so fast. He’s a very handsome boy.
Love your channel. My family originated in Finland but now reside in alberta canada. Once a week, the whole family would get together my grandparents for a big traditional sauna . Keep up the good content, and look forward to every episode.
Love how when i was a kid it was Saturday morning cartoons and cereal, now adult Saturday mornings involve coffee and wildhomestead. Who says growing up sucks 😂. Strength and honour brother.
What's funny I started watching Olive and Helena last year, so it's fun seeing you work Together.
Where is the English version
The Finns are hard guys, tough and nice !! They are all fighters !! Greetings from Germany !!!
As with your finish friend, we too are transported every Saturday morning to the wilds of Canada and the Wild Homestead. great job. Great video!
As a finn this might be the best episode yet. Torille!
Solid work done James. Oliver seems like a chill guy. His off grill island looks pretty cool as well. You have some the best collaborations.
Nate
Great video !
As a Canadian of Finn heritage it’s nice to see Oliver teach you about Sauna. I grew up having a sauna 2x a week, for bathing, in northern Ontario with my brothers, and thru the ice all winter, yr after yr. We never had a shower, always sauna.
The next thing you need for your sauna is a Loofa sponge and a viita. As kids we also collected birch branches every summer for my grandparents public Finn Sauna in Toronto, 50-+yrs ago.
The sauna is a spiritual, as much as it is a physical experience.
❄️🌲🇨🇦🇫🇮
Holy crap did not expect this guy. Love watching his vids on his island.
I knew the ability of not sleeping in today was for a reason. LETS GO BABY WHAT A WAY TO START THE DAY!!!!
Yessssssirrrrrrr!!
Two of my favourite homesteaders.
Much love from Dorset uk
That was so wholesome. It is so nice seeing James having fun with his buddies, I love to see him happy especially when he brings so much joy to all of us.
Fantastic! I love watching Oliver and Off grid island. My 2 favourite homesteaders in one video!🇨🇦🇫🇮
Best thing to watch every saturday, strength and honor! 💪🏻😎
Checking in from Perth where it's been stinking hot. Watching all that snow is helping us to feel cooler.
Oh that was an unexpected collab!
Great to see two great UA-camrs building stuff together🎉
I knew as soon as you said a guest was coming from Finland that it was Oliver. Love both your channels. Such a nice collab 😊
As a Swede, when I see a finn or Mumin, I upvote! "Ei saa peittää" (if you know, you know) 😁
Yes, a fire hazard. (if you know you know)
Essential 101 finnish :)
James, would you consider creating a Patreon or a channel membership for those who want to support you more? There could be bonus content and additional incentives on it, etc. I know I’d like another way to support you and these videos, I’m sure many others would too.
Hear, Hear! I'd support this!
I’ve recommended this a few months ago also. Patreon would cost him nothing and it would help so much. OOOGA BOOGA
What a nice guy Oliver is, great video James.
Hot tub / sauna and polar plunge winter warriors unite!!
Vilken lyx. Turkisk peppar, dumle och muminmugg 😊😊
I grew up with The Moomins (watching them on a Saturday morning in GB) and then showing them to my children...now, it's coffee Wild Homestead and chill😂
Strength, Honor and Kippis!
Nice James! If Oliver spent a week with you, there surely is so much more interaction than on this video. Thank you for connecting with Oliver, I've been following his channel as well and paying attention to his comments. I agree that not everything he is doing is what he should do, but I love that he's just going for it, and learning from his mistakes. I'm certain that you have taught him a ton of stuff, and now I'm excited to see Oliver's next video. Lastly, I offer you respect good sir, for just being an incredible human being. Thank you.
Oh, and I bet he gets an ATV now to haul his logs! I know for a fact at some point he watched that log slide on down the path thinking... "yeah..." ha ha ha
I've been following him too. And I love that he goes for it. Learns from his mistakes, listeners to the comments on a better/easier way to do things. But gets it done. So few of our younger generations have the grit to do the hard or less glamorous things. And he and his gal do it while being full time university students! Color me impressed. When I was in university, any free time was spent with a beer in my hand.😂 (true statement)
The look on Clovis face when she was chewing the tree branch was absolutely adorable. You saw nothing was the look ^^
I love Off grid island! They are another one of my channels i love following!
Now that's a good friend. He got you among the best Finnish stuff.
Missing some ryebread and mema but I think he nailed it
As a Brit living in Finland I love the life and the people....along with the traditions. It was lovely to see Oliver i will check out his site. Great collaboration between you both. It will be fun when you come to Finland!!! Hyvää! 🇨🇦🇫🇮
outdoor boy and wild homestead on the same day? helll yeah
I love black licorice. What a great collab.
I've been watching you both since you started your projects. It's awesome to see you collab!
Hey small tip take a wet cloth dip in wood ash from fire and use that to clean off glass on door of wood stove it will take off the black and soot and leave glass clear as new
Great advice. I came to the comments to suggest this technique and lone behold you already did. Works like a charm.
I actually like to wet a little newspaper then dip that in the ash. Same principle I suppose
I also watch Oliver so was happy to see him here
Your experience is very interesting I really like your videos
Greetings from Finland, my absolute favorite episode!
So glad to see you are well James! ❤
Love your Vlogs!❤👍👍
Great video. I also watch Oliver on his island. This episode was amazing.
Hello James my friend, I’ve been laughing out loud at your antics. Especially when you threw Oliver out. How dare he not drink coffee 😫😳. 😂😂
May the gods bless you, both the old ones and the new ones
It is now so much easier to transport those logs! I can remember when you played horse to get them home!
Humble beginnings!
You got it figured out.. this channel has so much to offer. Very best 🍻
Yesssssss called it!! Love off grid island 👍😁
U pop up in OZ on the middle of the night.......Enjoyed your visitor and the tree lopping...Clovis is very excited, he loves the trees to chew .....BLESSINGS darling boy from Granny Linda in OZ....
Wonderful to see Oliver helping out at the Wild Homestead, he's a great guy even though he doesn't coffee (how does he even function?).
Even worse he didn't eat the liquorice, that's heresy!
Wonderful and loving this video
Guessed the fellow Finn quest correctly. Come on! Can't wait for you to be in Finland "soon".
Saturday morning crew unite!!!!🤗🙏💜🐻🫐🍒 Strength and Honor!
Teamwork makes the dream work!
I have an ms150, had the same issue. Check the flywheel + pins at the base of the pull cord and I think you'll be able to get it operational again - pretty easy fix! In my case the pin fell out of the flywheel and I just had to reseat the pin + flywheel. I know you probably got it already - thanks for teaching me so much!
Glad you two got to met. I’ve been following him also.
I'm new here, and I have been long awaiting this video. So excited to watch it
what a surprise! I've been following off grid islands progress
I love videos like this. Your visitor was a kind and helpful gent. Clovis is getting so big. The homestead is coming along great.
I’ve only ever done Korean saunas, now I want to try Finnish sauna. Loved my sauna experience so far
It usually takes 2 cups of coffee and a snack to watch your videos on Saturday mornings. Life is good.
2 CUPS OF ☕️⚡️ AND A SNACK IS A GLORIOUS WAY TO START A SATURDAY! MAY THE GODS BLESS 🫡🤝⚡️🐺🌲
wow did not no the moomins was from there! such good memories watching them while i was growing up!
i love that you are able to help each other and also learn a lot about building on a different land i will definitely check out his channel
Good morning James! So glad you have a little help this week. Definitely subscribing to Off Grid Island! Now you need a collaboration with Treehouse Masters! HAHA I can see a treehouse on the other side of the river for a getaway, not that you need one.
Knocking up a little kitchen bench for your cabin would be a fun little project. That way you have a nice bench to make your coffee on and have neat storage underneath?
I love when you have guests! Ive been following off grid island since they started posting. Love to see it! Keep it up James
If you find your thunderbox cold to sit on you can make a ring from pink or blue foam insulation board and it feels a lot better to sit on than a toilet seat. At my family cottage we each had one our size and would hang it butt side against the wall in the outhouse.
Oh, no way! I just started watching @Off-Grid-Island like 2 weeks ago! Sick collab.
As Clovis's head is growing and filling out he's becoming a Handsome Dog...🐕
ATV only way to go. You 2 are doing a fune job of logging. CLOVIS what a sweet dog he loves tge outdoors. Enjoyed another great adventure with you James and nice to meet Oliver. Will check out his channel too.
Its been a great entertaining channel James ever week its a joy to sit down and enjoy the episodes especially seeing Clovis great you had help from Simon the dawrfs have been good over the past few months, looking forward to seeing more exciting videos to follow 😎👍🏻
I ate licorice pipes all the time when I was a kid! Still love them. DELICIOUS! You guys got a lot done ! Interesting video!
love the finnish pronounciation from you, spot on 😂
Clovis is getting so big!
Nice to see you have your friends join you to help at the wild homestead. I would love to have that much snow.... must be my Swedish ancestry.
Looking forward to what's next.
That was awesome seeing Oliver come help u at your place. I watch both of u so that was real unexpected lol but very cool to say the least

Strength and Honour!
🏴
It was a fun video 😅😅😅
I knew it was him when you mentioned he was from Finland. Love watching his videos also.
Good Morning Milk Wolf Pups! Slept in this morning, so I'm a wee bit late. Great to meet your Finnish friend! I can't wait to watch his videos!
Have you considered using a rope to free the snow on your roof - use it like a saw to create a disconnect between layers and the snow will slide off in sheets.
Wow that is a lot of snow
Off-Grid Island is awesome! Good to see him here helping ya. Fun collab and the snacks looks yummy!
That's great, I follow Off-Grid-Island already 😃
In the UK they were called the moomins , prob because we could/would not pronounce the other word lol and the black salty liquirice ,,,if you put them in vodka it basically turns it in to black sambuca !
👍Enjoyed watching you're and Oliver's visit👍 oogaboga!😆👣
Hi from Tassie Australia!
same
Super rewarding to finally hear you pronounce sauna correctly.
god-tier of Oliver to bring that massive Lakkupiipu! love that shit in norway to 10/10
Mahtavaa Oliver and Muumipappa, nice video! 👍🏻😃🇫🇮
Hello From Finland 🇫🇮 Hienoa saada täältä sinne vieraita ☺️
This was a great episode. I watch Oliver’s channel too. I can see an ATV in Oliver’s future 👍. The next quest you should think about is inviting Shawn from Cabin River Outdoors (he is also in Canada). I think that would be a matchup we’d all love to see. ❤
Very entertaining as usual.
Oliver!!!! Epic. I've been following them since the beginning too :-) Great to see.
Thank you for the great episode, again! In my opinion this was the best edisode from Wild Homestead so far and I have been watching you from the beginning. And I'm not saying this just because I'm from Finland myself, but this episode was like combined good entertainmentshow and good UA-cam offgrid channel! In general, I like the humor and style in this channel👍, all the elfs, gods etc.😄 I like it a lot! Also I think it's very nice how you reacted to gifts from Oliver.
One thing you need quickly, is the stones for sauna stove. If there wouldn't be a little ocean between Europe and North America, I would deliver them to you by myself. The sauna is the heart of the cottage/offgrid/ranch, so I hope you get that fixed soon ready for mahtavat löylyt! In our ranch here in Finland, we have 3 saunas and we go to woodsauna every evening. It's always a great way to end the day and also you sleep better after sauna.
Greetings from a Canadian living in Finland!
Oliver's a awesome dude I found his channel couple days ago
I subscribe to both of you and found you both separately and have watched every episode from both of you. This is great!
