ETS Turboback - Catless if you can, high flow if not, Resonated midpipe, no mufflers. Best sounding exhaust set up for the WRX hands down. No rasp, loud and deep with no drone
Sounds awesome boys, i have A 2018 wrx just got it last month with 27 thousand miles in it, gotta save a little money but next month I’ll be voiding whats left if my 3 year 36 thousand mile warranty, so that i can do the stage 1 + 😎🔥🔥⛽️
These OTS Tunes are intermediate stepping stones until we start getting into big numbers, this is just the start of this car, and its awesome to have you guys at the beginning of it all. Thanks for the awesome feedback from everyone!! Stay Tuned.
these destroy your warranties. very very few mods can actually be done to your car without voiding warranty. and if you try to just flash it back to stock they will know. they keep track of key turns and remapping like it was their job or something lol.if u have a warranty and wanna keep it just incase dont touch the car.
If the dealership can prove that the mod caused the problem then it's at the owners fault.. don't play if u can't pay. My 15 just shy of 30k, just got an MAP intake and AP. But I'm going to hold off on install for awhile. My 15 currently in shop after she putted out dead from bad gas. However after a new lil break in I will see.. 36k is when Subaru stops with warranty i believe, so I want to be sure if something else is to happen they can't balme it on some aftermarket tune or w/e
Jeff Schlitter late to the party but the dealer can not prove you flashed the ecu as long as you put it back to stock tune before taking it in. All they can see is if it's been reset.
I watched this right after watching wrx bug install his intake. He didn't have to get under the car, but watching you guys, I'm no sure how he did that! Good video, subbed.
Actually it is a silencer, if you have a stock intake, remove it and see what happens :P lol. Most if not all car manufacturers use a silencer on there intakes, unless that car was made from factory not to have it.
Sphoxros i head the wrx had these. I have a 2018 wrx, i took off the wheel liner to my surprise to find that mine didn't have it. There was an option to order it without a silencer?
Nice job! 2015 WRX here. Engine still stock for me minus Bren Tuned etune on the car. So far so good the way it is but I will definitely in future get this type of mod as shown in video and probably full exhaust then bring it to get dyno tuned. I just would rather have it dyno'd this time around.
dang, such a clean car! My 2011 wrex has so much road dust and mud on it right now >_< Takes forever to get around to washing the car here. Dang winter.
Just got a 2020 wrx and I’m defiantly getting this, one question I’m installing a boomba bpv does that need to connect to the Cobb tuning device or no ? And great video btw perfect filming 👌🏽
The "thingy" on the bottom is for condensation and water to drip down into to prevent hydro lock or engine damage. Stop running OTS tunes and get your butt to a tuner at least etune.
i have a 2015 wrx which has some pretty obnoxious rev hang in first and second gear, I've heard going stage one fixes this in the 15-17 models. you have any rev hang issues that got fixed with the tune?
G Parker hey yes I've been run the map tune for a couple days. it feels very similar to the Cobb ots tune. but definitely has more power on the top end. comes free with an ap if you buy from them or 75 for the tune. I'm very happy with it:)
So everything else was stock on this car except the intake when you tuned it to stage 1? Also, let's say if I decide to switch out my exhaust but keep everything else stock, would I need to tune? (sorry, kinda don't know sh*t when it comes to tuning lol)
The white thing on the air box is to catch water that gets into the intake. If u see the inlet is angled for water to drop right in there. Also there’s a little hole on the bottom so it can drain itself out.
should get the invidia down pipe when you go stage 2 just put a catless invidia dp in my 16 wrx with my tsudo catback most amazing turbo sounds ever im in love
Did you guys try the cobb tuner without the airbox then remap it once the airbox was installed? I'm getting my cobb tuner next month but I'm on the fence over the airbox.
EJL2004 nope we just went straight to tuning it with the Intake. BUT you can run the stage 1 map without the Intake no problem as long as you download the correct map that doesnt say +BigSF.
I just bought a 17' wrx myself and want to do the stage 1, but I am super paranoid about the car breaking down and not being able to fix it under warranty. Did you just say F it and go for it? Or what is your theory on beefing it up already? I'm dying to get this kit. The stock tune is absolutely horrible and hard to drive.
Did it 2016 wrx blown from stag1 u know what Cobb said ohh wasn't us good lluck u know what dealer told me go fuck off. 2016 blown sitting in driveway with 12k on it blown until I can fig out how get money to fix it. So go ahead rroll of the dice
G Parker We see it as, if it breaks, it's nothing we can't eventually fix. We do plan on going through and replacing all parts that may fail because of added power to keep everything running strong. Your car will treat you how you treat it, and that's not to say that things don't happen even if you take every precaution. Cobb OTS maps are a great product, and for us it's a temporary solution until our next step.
Just be sure to KEEP the stock parts. If you suffer some extreme issue that needs warranty work... swap the OEM parts back on, flash back to stock, take into the dealer.
My question is. How long did it take you to learn stick because you said you were gonna show everything up until the point you got the new WRX but you didn't show anything of that sort.
69Superlex well it really only took a day or so, practicing once before getting the car, then driving the new car home and to work the next day. The mechanics were easy but just getting comfortable doing so was the longer process.
hey man, im still breaking in my 2017 wrx and just ordered the my Stage 1 kit from cobb. How many miles did you wait to install em? I was planning on getting an oil change at 1k then installing everything at 3k or so.
crf25Orider I believe I had around 10-15k miles on it at the time, it was well broken in. But most people say your car is "broken in" by 1-5k miles. Everyone seems to have a different answer lol.
Y'all should check out a company out of Australia, MRT Performance. They do a lot of Subaru cars and have some really good informational videos right here on UA-cam. Check them out.
the video production quality had me thinking this was a 500k sub channel, nice vid
+Ibrahim Mohiuddin thanks man, we hope to get there.
was totally thinking the same thing. I'm looking at getting a 2017 wrx myself. I think this will be my first mod as well.
how did you guys get that quality of video? was it all in color correction?
ETS Turboback - Catless if you can, high flow if not, Resonated midpipe, no mufflers. Best sounding exhaust set up for the WRX hands down. No rasp, loud and deep with no drone
Finally it's here! According to Cobb we are looking at around a 20hp increase. MOAR POWA.
TrackRecord quick question how is your car runnin ever since my install with big sf my dam drops a lot really low . How is yours
Congrats. Highly recommend Eric@ Torqued Performance for stage 1 tune. Totally blows the ots tune out of the water.
Tommy S. +1 for TP.
My buddy with his 17 on stage 1 went 13.3 and with stage 2 went 12.7 good luck the new wrx is pretty impressive
Stay Tuned.
TrackRecord hey does any of this void the warranties?
these destroy your warranties. very very few mods can actually be done to your car without voiding warranty. and if you try to just flash it back to stock they will know. they keep track of key turns and remapping like it was their job or something lol.if u have a warranty and wanna keep it just incase dont touch the car.
Christopher Murphy thanks dude
If the dealership can prove that the mod caused the problem then it's at the owners fault.. don't play if u can't pay. My 15 just shy of 30k, just got an MAP intake and AP. i just put on the same set up the other day im loving it sofar! should of came out like this from the factory!
This video kinda inspires me to get stage 1
I watched this right after watching wrx bug install his intake. He didn't have to get under the car, but watching you guys, I'm no sure how he did that! Good video, subbed.
The white thing under the stock air box is an intake silencer
Nathan Einarsson More like for water being diverted
Actually it is a silencer, if you have a stock intake, remove it and see what happens :P lol. Most if not all car manufacturers use a silencer on there intakes, unless that car was made from factory not to have it.
Sphoxros i head the wrx had these. I have a 2018 wrx, i took off the wheel liner to my surprise to find that mine didn't have it. There was an option to order it without a silencer?
Future pilot67 18’s don’t have a milk jug
Nice job! 2015 WRX here. Engine still stock for me minus Bren Tuned etune on the car. So far so good the way it is but I will definitely in future get this type of mod as shown in video and probably full exhaust then bring it to get dyno tuned. I just would rather have it dyno'd this time around.
The music change when powering the access port 👌🏽😁
Woah, this is exactly what I was looking for in terms of installation and test drive. Sub'd.
Watching this 4 years later. How did the Tune Work as reliability and would you have done anything different?
Cool. Sounds great, still great vid in 2021 guys! Thanks, from WRX fan.
One of the best intro's I've seen!
+Im Mad thanks man
I would do a turbo back next. We want to see what the difference is between the stage 1 and the stage 2.
Coming soon!!
dang, such a clean car! My 2011 wrex has so much road dust and mud on it right now >_< Takes forever to get around to washing the car here. Dang winter.
Literally about ready to drive to Cobb to buy stage 1 perfect timing on this upload
yopeople1100 Nice! It's a huge upgrade to drivability and consistency. The intake is a great touch as well.
Do these tunes using the Access ports remove checking engine lights for EGR and TGV deletes?
Just got a 2020 wrx and I’m defiantly getting this, one question I’m installing a boomba bpv does that need to connect to the Cobb tuning device or no ? And great video btw perfect filming 👌🏽
That white plastic piece is a resonator, suppose to make it so you can hear turbo swooshing noise inside the car lol
You should get a catback and wheel depending on the price you can get both
The "thingy" on the bottom is for condensation and water to drip down into to prevent hydro lock or engine damage. Stop running OTS tunes and get your butt to a tuner at least etune.
They just said they are getting an exhaust too, why would they waste money on a pro or etune when the ots will work for now.
i have a 2015 wrx which has some pretty obnoxious rev hang in first and second gear, I've heard going stage one fixes this in the 15-17 models. you have any rev hang issues that got fixed with the tune?
I just bought the same kit as you for me 2017 wrx USDM 2.0, did you hookup jumper cables while installing the accessport?
Do pro tunes void warranty too? I'm assuming they do?
very nice!! im getting my accessport either today or tomorrow. gunna run the MAP stage 1 tune
XXZsparkie that tune was great. Their stage 2 tune is also a huge improvement
I hear the MAP tune is better than the Cobb stage 1 tune. Keep us informed.
G Parker hey yes I've been run the map tune for a couple days. it feels very similar to the Cobb ots tune. but definitely has more power on the top end. comes free with an ap if you buy from them or 75 for the tune. I'm very happy with it:)
this video was very well put together. Awesome quality. well done.
I'm still too scared to void my warranty! Was it worth it?
Stage 1 just makes the car feel so much more fluent. No more rev hang!
ShaanNotShawn just earn more money
Me too
how much does a tune cost?
Mystxry 500 to 1,000
what components are needed for stage 1+, and what if at stage 1, put without the downpipe shredding
So everything else was stock on this car except the intake when you tuned it to stage 1? Also, let's say if I decide to switch out my exhaust but keep everything else stock, would I need to tune? (sorry, kinda don't know sh*t when it comes to tuning lol)
I'm planning on buying an sti and do stage 1 also.....would that void the warranty?
Great Video! Think about running the same set up on my 17 sti. Do you still like the set up?
Brad Holmes thank you, and yes it's great! We will be going with a pro tune soon after stage 2 however!
TrackRecord im looking for some people to Cruze with. Where you guys from?
The white thing on the air box is a resonator to delete intake niise
The white thing on the air box is to catch water that gets into the intake. If u see the inlet is angled for water to drop right in there. Also there’s a little hole on the bottom so it can drain itself out.
How is MPG with a stage 1? I am running stock at high altitude in Colorado. Will this affect my car in a positive way?
S blue late reply, but yes people report better gas mileage with the Cobb tune
great video i subed hope to see more. i am looking at getting a 2017 wrx myself so this channel will be very helpful
+Chris Smith we've got big plans for the wrx, stay tuned.
should get the invidia down pipe when you go stage 2 just put a catless invidia dp in my 16 wrx with my tsudo catback most amazing turbo sounds ever im in love
i just bought mine today and cant for it to get here.
do your car have an after market blow off valve or is it completely stock?? (besides the intake and the tune)
Did the rev hang fully disappear afterwards?
Did you guys try the cobb tuner without the airbox then remap it once the airbox was installed? I'm getting my cobb tuner next month but I'm on the fence over the airbox.
EJL2004 nope we just went straight to tuning it with the Intake. BUT you can run the stage 1 map without the Intake no problem as long as you download the correct map that doesnt say +BigSF.
Does this tune void the warranty on the care?
Awesome video! Do you have to have a Cobb intake to run stage 1+? Would an ETS or Mishimoto work just as well?
MrKid37 i think cobb released an ots map for mishimoto intake
hows she running?
When you guys going to Mexico to race the Mustang GT vs stage 1 WRX
do I need a Cobb intake or could I get another brand.
is it possible to put a cobb ap for octane 92 and 95 ( only these are available in my country ) ?
I've been waiting for this!
:D
I got that same flat head screwdriver
I have a 2018 wrx with borla catback exhaust .. i just wanna know if i should go stage 2 or stage 1 tune with cobb
Def stage 1. If you don't have a jpipe, no point in stage 2 tune
where is this looks super close to my house
I was so tempted to get that package while cobb was having its 10% off sale last week.
if you're military it's 15% all the time.
Do you have a blow off valve? Sounds like it
Your editing is fantastic
Will it work for the 2015 wrx cvt
Nice editing definitely is impressive! Great video too keep it up
Bet no one even noticed the eg hatch at 8:46 🤘🏻 that's a real racecar.
I just bought a 17' wrx myself and want to do the stage 1, but I am super paranoid about the car breaking down and not being able to fix it under warranty. Did you just say F it and go for it? Or what is your theory on beefing it up already? I'm dying to get this kit. The stock tune is absolutely horrible and hard to drive.

josh anderson Damn dude. Sorry to hear. Sounds like that answers my question.
Yea just becarfule
Just be sure to KEEP the stock parts. If you suffer some extreme issue that needs warranty work... swap the OEM parts back on, flash back to stock, take into the dealer.
Pick up the pace bud my 2017 is Stage 2 and is on RPF1s. Did yours come with a dope ass vape in the glove compartment too?
My question is. How long did it take you to learn stick because you said you were gonna show everything up until the point you got the new WRX but you didn't show anything of that sort.
69Superlex well it really only took a day or so, practicing once before getting the car, then driving the new car home and to work the next day. The mechanics were easy but just getting comfortable doing so was the longer process.
Can I do just an ECU flash? Or do I need to install the intake? I really just want to give rid of the rev hang.
MLGKrazeR you don't need an intake, just regular 91 tune will solve it
does the access port have to be attached to the obd connector all the time to keep the tune? or can it be unplugged?
+madmattr6 it can be unplugged, but if you want to data log or have access to the accessory gauges it needs to be plugged in.
TrackRecord oh ok got it...👍
No
hey man, im still breaking in my 2017 wrx and just ordered the my Stage 1 kit from cobb.
+TrackRecord exactly! I'm just going to try and be patient I suppose. Thanks!
Did this help with the revhang?
Yea bro just having the accessport stage 1 without an intake loses rev hang ESPECIALLY going from 1st to 2nd
Yo make more videos of yo car y’all seem cool asf
are you guys from Ventura County?
Man I wanna do all this shit to my 17 wrx but don't wanna void the warrantys
NICE!!!!!CONGRATS!!!!!!
Are you not worried about your warranty? =(
Y'all should check out a company out of Australia, MRT Performance. They do a lot of Subaru cars and have some really good informational videos right here on UA-cam. Check them out.
It's a baffle. It quiets the intake noise
good thing we got rid of that then. needed more TSU TSU TSU!!!!!!
TrackRecord so could we just remove it and leave stock air box and have it make more noise? lol
do u live out here in San Fernando valley ?
What's the opener song clip from?
stage 2 is rebuilding the motor?
No, it's a tune with turbo back exhaust.
Nice car!
Love you videos!
What editing program do you guys use?
MEME GOD mostly Adobe Premiere but also Adobe Adobe After Effects.
TrackRecord I wanted to know how you did the hovering text when you were inside the engine bay
MEME GOD That was done in After Effects using 3D motion tacking on the footage, then pairing the text to that. There are tons of tutorials out there.
Subaru has specified jack points on the WRX. Dont bend the framework 😢
nice job guys
This is more complicated than the 8-14 WRX.
Very helpful guys!
how much is the whole stage 1 package?
Very good
whats your camera?
Right now we use the Canon 5Dmkiii as our primary.
TrackRecord thanks!
Could i do this to my cvt wrx
LT mongoose yes
Turn up!
what’s the intro song lol
nice
The white thing collects water
POST MORE VIDEOS!!! I'm sick of waiting.
T-Bone Steak 3 Uploads a week coming soon!! 🎬
why did u jack THE CAR
william milavich to make more room underneath 😳
Wazaaa
Cool
Im way past my
Warrenty on my 2015 so yea
that white thing attached to the stock intake is an intake muffler.
619wrx so they just needed to take out that white box instead of doing all that shit and loosing the warranty
Cool vid in my opinion that intake it’s fkn horrible for the price
Any one running 93 octane on 91 map?
I hate our stock rims, premium trim I kinda like better
