I was just transported back 40 years to the Hazlet Forum, Battle of the Bands night, with the singled headed rack toms wrapped in aluminum flashing, that was fun, thank you!
Love watching this from time to time. I am 51 so have seen my fare share of great rock drummers and this guy BELONGS, he has it! Fantastic solo with a solid change up from 2 parts. A crowd pleaser for sure. Disagree???? If you do go get therapy lol.
Hell yeah Q! This is the video i was talking about w you bro.. definitely one of your best drum solo videos hands down. Those tom crossovers you're doing are super fn clean, fast and tight as hell.. And the hairspray thing you do while playing is fn epic dude.. lol.. loved everything about it.. keep killin it Q..
What a nice flash back to the 80's Metal Scene! THANK YOU! I see influences from so many 80's era drummers in your playing and flashy style. Love it. It's actually refreshing to see a larger kit, stage costume and energy that few modern bands even attempt as they show up and play in jeans and t-shirt and are as animated as a slug. Almost made me wish I had stuck with it rather than go to school as get my EE degree...I still have my 1987 12 piece kit, but alas, at 47 I think my days of this are over. Great Video man.
This 67 year old drummer truly dug your solo. Fabulous showmanship accompanied by a nice balance of musicality, technique, speed and dynamics. I suspect that you have a great career ahead. I look forward to seeing more from you.
I will & always have preferred a little less technical ability & would rather watch some flash, showmanship, glam what ever..any time..not all flash & no skill... the image/personality was always always part of it as far back as I can remember.Neat & tidy & perfect is boring.
I just saw your Neil Peart inspired solo back in the 80s as a kid on the North's w the acoustic/electric set and thought this dude will be a monster and damn if I wasn't right. That was a really spot on precisely played solo w added showmanship( which you've been working on since the 80's). Those double stroke w accents were awesome. Truly a great solo Sir.
3:19 Ultra fast and CLEAN tom-tom 2 handed crossovers!! Well done bro!! Btw, nice original 1980's TAMA Imperialstar kit with the Granstar Custom mounts!! 3:32 You definitely do Tommy Lee's style justice. Respect.
@@sarasarah1810 It is not "basic elementary" drumming. It is flawless timekeeping, 180 degree full strokes with every back best, monster fills, and a huge sound. Listen to the entire Shout at the Devil album, esp Knock Em Dead solo section drum breaks and Danger.opening drum breaks. Savage!!
@@sarasarah1810 Lee Kerslake was great. RIP Listen to Wild Side and break down the sections for me. Shouldn't be too hard, cuz it's all elementary, right??
This guy clearly loves the the early 80's hair bands. Would have been a star if he was around at that time. Too bad. But he loves what he is doing. Cheers bro!
There's something ironic, yet beautifully poetic, about the best bands today being bands that pay homage to bands from the 80's (whether they do it directly, or indirectly). Instead of the players today learning their craft, having their own identities, and writing great songs....they'd rather bang on one string (of a 7-string guitar, no-less), and hate everything, and everyone who's not doing what THEY are doing. Their hypocrisy is bad enough, but the lack of talent is worse. Kudos to these guys for doing something that's at least nostalgic. That said, it's also par for the course that we have no idea who the actual band is....only that some dude is playing a drum solo. Which, is also something reminiscent of the 80's.
Great job both highly precise and entertaining! I’m not sure if they are but I see the forces by way of influence of Eric Singer, Tommy Lee, and Randy Castillo.
Monster talent!! I could do w/out the bow tie and bd bunting though? I hope he will inspire others in his generation to follow in his footsteps. We don’t want rap to replace this kind of artistry.
no you hear pretty close replica of Eric car nothing else including the act. Which is good and entertaining. def talent! time to develop originality though
Well......, His playing isn't close to the great Mr. Aldrege's but all his stick twirling is a direct cop of Tommy Aldredge. Especially the trip around the head with the sticks, that's a SIGNATURE of Tommy's. Nothing original here but nothing "sucks" outside of those boots and the dirty laundry on his bass drums. Just a personal opinion on those last two.
Great playing, great sound, great visual. You have lots of energy and passion, very entertaining. If you want to take your playing to the next level check out George Kolias, Mike Mangini, Thomas Lang, Dennis Chambers and Tony Royster Jr.
Just awesome, man! I started playing drums in 1985. Never liked the Hair Band crap from then. You would blow away any drummer from back then in those bands. Love the drumset! Where the hell did you find those?
All i can surmise is....these guys 'ARE....a tribute to Motley Crue?.....i mean, come on?........ this dude is DOING....Tommy Lee?......absolutely..... ...so, without even 'looking below yet...or 'knowing for sure, thats my guess...

So you sir may have this wonderful moment to go cheerfully FUCK YOURSELF pal lol
The guy is playing stuff that ive never seen Tommy Lee or Eric Carr do, he is better tenchnique wise for sure, you can easily tell during the rolls parts...Those drumers never played rolls in a solo

Tommy Lee comes to mind.....which is pretty much old hat & also gets boring after awhile....sorry but its true...you have great skill Quinton hope you have moved on from this...there is so much more out there ...
@Kal El far from it ...been playing over 40+ yrs ..being jealous isnt even in my vocabulary....I said it was a good solo ...just a really dated solo ...thats why I said this solo reminded of Tommy Lee..
this guy could take a time machine ride to 85 and sit in with any metal band of that year
