My younger brother and I met Wayman back in the summer of 1985 at The Kensington Galleria in Tulsa. He was signing autographs and we were big fans of him and OU Basketball. Wayman was so kind to us and graciously obliged by giving two small-town kids from Western Oklahoma (and several of our friends who weren’t there that day!) multiple autographs. We were in such awe of him. Wayman was our sports hero, but that day he became even more special to us. He treated us like friends. Oh that smile of his…my goodness, he was just an amazing human. I can vividly remember him hollering at us from across the mall as we were leaving, asking us if we were sure we didn’t have any more friends that needed his autograph! Priceless memories for us. He was not only an exceptionally talented ball player and musician, he was first and foremost a Godly man who loved the Lord, his wife, family, friends and fans. He lived and loved fiercely. He was simply the best.
I remember when he used to play for the Indiana Pacers. His smile would light up the entire place. Rest in Peace Wayman you have been a blessing to so many people and now God called you to play music for him.
Wayman Tisdale…Never heard of him and i am 52. But it‘s never too late. I feel honored that i was led to this Video.🙏☝️ Now i have 4 Heros in my Life that loved their Maker. & shared his Love. 1. Jesus Christ 2. Elvis Presley 3. Muhammad Ali …and this wonderful Angel. ❤😢🌹🙏
Great basketball player, great musician, and most of all, a truly great person who left us too soon. But I guess he is proof that only the good die young..An immensely talented man, the likes of which we will eever see again. Rest in power.
Damn great and sad story‼️My fav Country song- “Wayman’s Song.” I now understand this song after watching and listening to this. I am into RocknRoll y’all! But this song has soul. I do love me some of dat, too❤
I attended The Universty of Oklahoma with Wayman...actually had Wayman give me that great smile of his one time on campus...never knew of his incredible music talent.I believe one day that he'll play again...The blessed hope! Amen!!! God bless.
Wayman was such a wonderful spirit. I had the chance to see him in concert at a New Year's eve event in Fairfax, VA, in January 2009, but I couldn't make the event. I regret it so much because he passed away in May of that year. May he rest in peace, and thanks for the smile and joy he bought in sports and his music.
This was absolutely beautiful!!! I have always been a huge fan of his music. I have a few of his cd’s that I’m going to pull out and listen to. He just had such a beautiful spirit and soul.. I know his family misses him every single day. An absolute sweetheart, loved this!!💙💙💙🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
So many of us grew up with the Tisdales, here in Tulsa. I was older than Weldon who was in my brother Jon's class. Then was William. Then, Wayman was in my brother David's class, both at Immaculate Conception, then, at BTWHS. Wayman always brought such a smile to my mother's face, and, whenever I would run into him in public, he would always be sure to ask about her, which brought such a smile to her face, when I'd tell her. Life is just really strange...who the Lord takes, and, who he allows to remain. But, for the short time that he was here, NOBODY squeezed more out of life than that young brother, Wayman Tisdale. I feel truly blessed to have actually known him.
For a soul so full of life … to be gone & missing-in-action it seems emotionally . Like he just went by in a flash … But so much was accomplished … to leave a lasting legacy .. to souls that he has reached His sound & spirit is a mainstay … 🙏🏽⭐️🙏🏽
A greater musician than he was a ball player of you can believe that! What a wonderful person! Thank you Tisdale for all your contribution and did it with an infectious smile! RIP brother! ✌🏾🙏🏾😊
Waymon Tisdale and AV Richards gone too soon. Both were gentle giants that were anointed and graced with God given musical talent. I miss them both. They are playing bass in the heavenly choir.
It doesn't matter what he did but no matter what he was doing playing basketball for playing music or interacting with another person he was always the same and he was fun-loving and selfless
I couldn't bring myself to watch this documentary because I liked this guy so much, that's when basketball was my life but now i have the strength to watch this now and im about to become 51 years old 🙏🏽 thank you Allah for everything!!
Rip rest in peace way man Tisdale I remember him in the NBA I went to his concerts good base player jeff Boswell from Youngstown Ohio lives in Houston texas
He is absolutely one the Best of the Best. He was Bigger than he knows. His Spiritual Joy is a antidote that comes from African Spirituality. It not a Christian thing. It's a Divine African Godman thing. His Het Heru spirit was his purpose for being here in this Incarnation. He is Champion of Joy, living it and giving it. Me, myself being a musician also, followed his career from the beginning to the end. I have all of his music. Remember he isn't dead, he will return. He is a eternal being without a vessel for now. The Enlighten Ancestors has him and will return.
Dave Koz looked like a little girl next to Tiz!! 😂😂 As a musician and NBA fan, I personally miss Wayman, especially since I always wanted to meet him. His death still makes no sense after all this time. 😢
When I was young, Nebraska had a very good player for several years, Dave Hoppen. 6'11" scoring average, rebounds, his last 2 years he was very good. But, I remember Tisdale and Oklahoma torched Hoppen and Nebraska for 3 years. Too bad Indiana drafted him, at least at OU he was amazing.
Toby Keith and Wayman Tisdale, together again. Two really talented and great people. May you both rest in Peace, see ya soon.
🙏🙏🙏
Gone too soon. I miss you greatly.
I just bumped into his songs ..." glory glory " ....it moved me ...Thank you Wayman ...am charles ( south africa 🇿🇦)...
Wow! What a inspirational story. The human spirit and will to live is amazing! Wayman GOD called you home, but you will be remembered for ever.

I hate to contradict Wayman, but funk started in New Jersey in the late 60s by George Clinton and the parliaments
