Time for another randomizer MVS. I rewatched the old randomizer streams, recently and I think we all would love to see more awesome randomizer content from our favorite streamer ❤
Dark Souls games have a fog gate randomizer which changes the location the fog gates lead to... imagine if we had something like this for D2. You click on the entrance to the Underground Passage and it takes you to Flayer Dungeon level 2 and then open the whole game except for the Worldstone Chamber, which would be locked until the player defeats the A1-A4 act bosses, which also can spawn anywhere, so the player would have to look for them in every possible location
Yeah, I was thinking about dungeon randomizer too, nice idea. It is much harder than enything else. Would be nice if some experienced modder contacted me how to do it.
So much potential, I'm so glad we have modders bringing new life into games like this. Just a shame that Blizzard don't put this kind of effort and fun into their games.
sadly, that will never happen mostly due to the fact you NEED offline mode for this. Although man it be quite crazy if they had a separate multiplayer mod mode.
It also works for Project Diablo 2, although some features currently don’t work in pd2 itself with the randomizer, like maps and pd2 specific items arent dropping. I wish this could be fixed 😿
I wish it fixed to, but for now I rely on community to find what causing issue exactly. I am not familiar with PD2 technical stuff (in files) so I need someone who knows stuff there. It takes me hours and days to dig there and I don't have spare time

This is why we need more games with a single player option. With D4 you get to pay $100 for game and $100 for expansion and you don't even get to mod it. If D4 had a single player mode I wouldn't mind giving them $100 but paying them $100 and then letting them dictate me how I should play this game is not fun.
Requiring constant internet connection is entirely unnecessary as I see it and thus a HUGE red flag for me. If I want to play a SP game I ought not need to connect to a bloody server FFS. I knew I wasn't going to buy D4 simply for that alone, and I'm glad I didn't.
One thing thats missing that I'd love to see is a chance (slider to increase chance) to see Main Campaign bosses roaming the outerworld. How crazy would it be to see a random Durial walking around actIII? Or Baal walking around Act 1? Would be awesome to see such a thing
You can do it,though it is hard to make so only one baal spawn there, no tech for that. And also no way to tie baal killed in cold plains to quest. And I personally don't find it fun so it's not a priority for me. It was area of early 2000's D2 mods with such stuff, I get tired of it as a kid. You see it once and then it's old. When current rando settings, you can play it over and over (I think I played over 100 different runs already)

Was getting a good amount of interesting uniques etc. However, now I'm in Hell, I'm finding almost no uniques, it's really strange. Any tips? I've tried increasing the unique drop chance slider to max etc. but I'm sort of finding uniques once per area (for example, 1 in the den of evil, 1 in chaos sanc etc), and they're normally the same item over and over. Strangely, I'm getting Bers and Jahs constantly, even though I have it set to only slightly increase the chance of finding high runes.

About 'same item over and over' how many number of version you set? 10? then each unique must be different (well you can set 100% original props and 100% prop total so you just get uniques identical to base). btw did you enabled randomizer at all?? for runes, slider have insane range. 'a little bit' can actually be 100x increase for you. Check presets in Rune tab.
Super easy, it's a different shortcut on you desktop. Or if you don't want shortcut and use bnet launcher command it is literally one click 'reset launch to unmodded'. Also mods in D2R have different folders for saves and settings. And also you can have different rando mods with different names and settings and switch between them. It is very easy! Try it out !
Hmm. That's interesting. Though D2 have some quirks about combination of AI actions and sprite movesets. I remember I had crashes when I touched it but with some caution I think it's doable. (not like I am going to implement this in the future).
D2R had the IP netplay support in the first alpha, but then the pirates cracked that build and started playing together, at which point blizz decided to take that option out. I don't really have problems with piracy (because publishers are exceedingly anti-consumer these days), but one thing I'll say is that THOSE ones who cracked the alpha are complete and utter ret**ded morons - they could have waited for the full release, but noooo.... And now we don't have any netplay outside of BNet...
I think this would be super fun on starting a new character; but I would completely randomize the randomizer sliders so I have no idea what to expect! 😂
anyone know where to place additional mods for pre-gen to detect like a stash expansion mod? I'm havign a hard time figuring out which folder to place extra mods
When you randomize the passives on the set items, are the rolled every time they drop, or if you find a sigons gloves that gives 1 to all skill levels, does that mean the next one will also have 1 to all skill levels. There are different versions of each set for different bonuses, but if the rolls on the items are hard coded to roll the same each time, is there a way to make it so that you could be running a certain set, and then find a new piece with a different roll that helps your build more. An example of this would be... Running full IK, the maul has + to light radius as one of the new roll able abilities. You then find an IK Maul that has IAS as the extra roll. Back when I played D2 all of the time, I always thought it would be cool if there were some different bonuses for mixing certain sets as well. Or maybe a different bonus depending on what class you chose.

@@dustinroberson1865 No, sorry, but for D2R blizzard explicitly banned any binary code modding (in contrast to LoD). People do not understand but that's the reason why no PD2 for D2R. You so limited with txt file modding. It's not like my d2modgen you called 'editor' is bad or unable. It just illegal (also much harder to bust copy protection exe too)
@@mapron1 If I recall, D2r doesn't require internet connection to play offline, so I'm unsure where the "illegal" comes in. The worst case scenario would be activision shutting down your online play. This was the same case with LOD back in the day.

Yeah, for some options I was thinking about Ultra Hardcore runs (like no HP drops). I tried to make option to disable healing shrines and wells, but that is hard as heck. so many hardcode/crashes.
That's what makes things interesting in Diablo. Why is there no Griffon's Eye or Nightwing's Veil for fire sorcs? Why are there no fire and cold versions of Blackhorn's Face? Woops! now there's Flickering Flame and every kind of absorb helmet because the woke developers of D2r are the antithesis of what Diablo is about. Diablo is about uniqueness.

I only really like randomizers in games like loz or metroid games. The types of games that have items needed to progress further into the game. Not sure how I feel about a d2 randomizer.
Yeah, I'll definitely use it for fun and to mess around with, but the only issue with randomizer for games like this is that it either makes it way too hard if mobs spawn that are above your current items/level or way too easy if it drops a broken and godly item or two for you. Still fun for messing around with items I never be blessed and/or rich enough to get in online mode.
@@mapron1 If the "litter" is reduced, doesn't that make the drop chance for all the other items (thinking sets/uniques) better, because the garbage rolls are taken away? Or does that just turn into a nodrop roll for the garbage?
@@TheUltimateBlooper Good question actually. I don't think I account nodrop roll accordingly after moving junk slider (as it hard to balance change on 4 sliders at once) So you probably need to raise nodrop slider a bit, like to 120% or something if you feel it make unfair more drops.

Good question. You can use it with PD2 (tho people report bugs with some affixes like skills appearing a lot); Also it has pre-gen configuration step so you can pre-load other mods before randomization. It works really well for little mods like extendedinventory mod. HOWEVER for remodded we need it to be opensourced, specifically I need txt files, not compiled bin files to be present. Even after remodded releasewith txt files - I still need to work a lot to fix bugs here and there because this mod is huge. But I agree, remodded with rando would be really nice to have. p.s. I managed to get d2modgen work with mod that adds a lot of new items and sets; though I have to do some manual editing of txt files for that. So short answer - kinda yes but you probably need to work youself to get stuff rolling.
I love the randomizer. Happy to see a video! Anyone know how to have splash damage AND randomizer? There's an "Add extra attributes to randomize (comma-separated)" field, but Splash doesn't seem to work out of the box. Please to help if you know!
Someone used splash damage as pre-gen step I belive? That was not a common request so I did not add it as base feature but allowed to merge with other mods. Just select another d2r mod in pre-gen.

No, sorry mods for d2 only for PC. also this tool is windows-only. Even if it could be cross-platform in theory, it uses libs that are windows-only for accessing d2 data.
EWWWWW why are we supporting and promoting MODS? that randomizer changing your dmg output and also the stats that spawn, is WHACK! keep the game how it was upon installation, or at least don't promote this kind of stuff.

Mods for every game (not only d2) is the thing that keeps game fro a long time and extends community A LOT. It never harms base game. Does Skyrim have 100000 mods? yes. Do I still play vanilla with critical bug fixes? also yes. As an rando author, I play vanilla D2 a lot. You scared for no reason.

Tie boss kill everywhere to progress is impossible without binary code modification (which is explicitly forbidden by blizzard, in contrast to LoD)
that'd be cool but there's not a lot of ways to level skip this stuff without the quest items you know?

The pre and post gen is used to combine the randomizer together with other mods but this feature does not work at the moment

Fun idea on mob randomizer would be randomizing attacks/attack AI on monsters, so maybe you run into a fallen with a souls moveset.

So basically extended corruptions, but every item is already corrupted when you find it.
If you run this config, yes. you can have any proportion of original/generated affixes.

Wow I want to play this mod completely vanilla and just disable the dropping of potions. Sounds like most of a loot filter right there.
If you just wanna see 'less crap' you can go to 'increase item drops' and move slider Junk to 5. That will reduce all the litter.

p.s. I managed to get d2modgen work with mod that adds a lot of new items and sets; though I have to do some manual editing of txt files for that.

I love the randomizer. Happy to see a video! Anyone know how to have splash damage AND randomizer? There's an "Add extra attributes to randomize (comma-separated)" field, but Splash doesn't seem to work out of the box. Please to help if you know!

Someone used splash damage as pre-gen step I belive? That was not a common request so I did not add it as base feature but allowed to merge with other mods. Just select another d2r mod in pre-gen.

all D2R modding is offline only yes. but d2modgen support LoD so you can generate mod and play on private bnet.

D2 1.10+ ladder reset meta is broken af and hella boring after all these years!
You can run this rando on LoD and start private bnet with it :) I don't think rando for ladder is a good idea

It works for LoD 1.14 and ProjectD2. Press first checkbox on Main page 'use Diablo II legacy '
i can confirm it works with D2 lod, i just have to tweaked it a little since i used plugy & ultimate inventory 😅

No, sorry mods for d2 only for PC. also this tool is windows-only. Even if it could be cross-platform in theory, it uses libs that are windows-only for accessing d2 data.

Mods for every game (not only d2) is the thing that keeps game fro a long time and extends community A LOT. It never harms base game. Does Skyrim have 100000 mods? yes. Do I still play vanilla with critical bug fixes? also yes.
