Whats your opinion on hack and squirt during winter (dormant season)? I get lots of mixed information on that. Some people recommend stopping hack and squirt when the leaves change color in fall, and some people recommend the treatment until late winter/early spring.
Depends on the location you’re at. Species you’re targeting, and herbicide you’re using. The Harper mix is a great mix and outside of spring greenup is very effective
Yup, I'm in the western Missouri Ozarks. Lots of hickory and some oaks being eliminated. Most other species are just being left untreated for stump sprouts. Harper cocktail is what I use with the exception of Tordon on some trees that I cut down completely.
I have a huge oak tree and I drilled 2 holes in it, on each side of tree on a downward angle with a 1 inch wide spade drill bit about 4-5 inchs deep. If I fill both holes with roundup 41% glysophate mix, in winter Jan 2025, should it be effective enough to kill the tree so it doesnt sprout leaves in the spring/ summer of 2025 and permanently kills the tree thereafter ?
Great video, short and to the point. What’s you thoughts on Imazapyr to get the roots on holly. Also do you think drill and fill is just as effective?
We stick with the Croag Harper cocktail for all our TSI herbicide applications
Will this herbicide mix work for vines wrapped around trees? I have several 4-6” thick vines up several trees.
Yes, absolutely!
Can you hack and squirt locust trees? If so what time of year is best?
You absolutely can. Anytime throughout the year aside from late February through late April.
Great video! and information. Is Arsenal 20:80 to use ok?
We use the this mixture:
Triclopyr (Garlon 3A) 50%
Water 40%
Imazapyr (Arsenal AC) 10%
Mixed in that order

Will this herbicide and method work on pine trees?
Yes!

You don’t need to go through all that trouble. Just break through the cambium layer and get your herbicide mixture into the tree.
What is the right time to do this for a Maple big tree??
Anytime throughout the year besides spring when sap flow is heavy.
Does ammonium salt of glyphosate 71% kill a bottle palm tree
Not sure, we use the same mixture on all trees we treat.
What is the right herbicide?
Garlon 3a 50%
Water 40%
Arsenal AC 10%
Mixed in that order
@@Whitetail_Properties is Triclopyr the same as garlon?
@@jeffreyperez2437 Yes garlon 3a
@@Whitetail_Properties I see a lot of Triclopyr #4. Is this the same as #3?
Wish that herbicide wasn’t so expensive
It is pricey, But a few gallons will last most guys years and years.
