They want you to go and purchase the book to read for yourself. No book author is going to give away to whole story on a show to promote the book

I'm crying listening to her, because I also wanted an elective c-section and wasn't listened to. My emergency c-section went wrong. I was eventually put under general anesthetic, but was in surgery for 5 hours. It's nearly 2 years on and I still have complications. I wanted my child to have a sibling but I can't ever have another pregnancy. I have no trust in maternity care.
Thank you for sharing your story Louise, you are incredibly strong.

So sorry to hear Louise went through this terrible time. Very brave to share she has a stoma bag and her birth story.
I had PTSD after childbirth and cancelled follow up appointments at the hospital, so understand Ryan's point of view.
That was almost 12 years ago and I promise it gets better with time.

I'm not surprised so many women suffer from a depression or give up breastfeeding. The post natal care in this country simply doesn't exists. I had a long, traumatic assisted labour, stress and pain I had never experienced. They wanted to sign us out just a few hours after the labour. I understand a hospital is not a hotel but let the mum rest at least a little bit. If men was giving birth we would be living in a very different world today.

It is truly shocking and worrying how bad the healthcare in this country has gotten. It is becoming more and more dangerous for women to give birth. So many horrific birth stories where harm to the mother and/or baby could be avoided. I feel for this woman, I can’t imagine spending my first year as a mother dealing with this trauma and various health issues. It’s hard enough without all that 😥.

Watching this made me cry. What an unimaginably traumatising experience for Louise to have gone through, I really feel for her. Another example of how medical professionals so often don’t listen to or respect women. I have IBD and PTSD as well and it means a lot to hear her speaking openly about these things.

Brilliant interview, I feel after a traumatic first birth myself, more needs to be done in terms of advocacy for women’s rights in childbirth and the education of first time mothers around the potential dangers and choices they may have to make. It’s all well and good saying that care is patient lead but if women and fathers aren’t made aware of their choices in life threatening situations I feel that it is a big shortfall for the nhs.
In my experience it was very basic and a big emphasis on positive thinking and doing everything naturally. This is not the reality for many women and you are sent in blind to the dangers and end up with trauma.
Well done on highlighting this issue.❤

I work primarily with postpartum moms and newborns, and I’ve been saying this since before my training. It’s outrageous how little info women are given, and how heavily those gaslit about how safe and “natural” it is to give birth, but also, women MUST self advocate and research the dangers on their own. Death and pain are also natural, natural doesn’t negate suffering.

All they can do in medicine and they put you through that. I don’t know why I’m shocked as I’ve had some horrendous experiences in hospital! Take care.

It's reasonable that they should have picked up potential problems as a matter of routine care. I know lots of women who needed planned c sections for way less and they wouldn't have been put through what Louise was put through. Childbirth can be life threatening for many women and showing our support to those women, as women ourselves is important.

I don’t think so, at least not directly - Louise has Ulcerative Colitis which causes inflammation in the colon and can result in needing a stoma. There could certainly be an indirect link though (ie the stress and trauma of the birth could have caused a flare up of the UC).
