Kalabahi looks a lot more developed now in terms of infrastructure. Pertamina petrol station and very large store - but zero tourism it seems. Your trip is of great interest to me.
Yeah, one thing I’m noticing though. I find kids more likely to see a foreigner and immediately ask for money. They often see and approach me with a hand outstretched saying:”money, money, mister”. I’ve not seen that anywhere else on this trip so far. Not sure why here, and why so much if it.
Hehe, not sure what else to call them. Not even sure if it’s illegal or not, but they sure seemed well organized! I’ve not seen ikat around here yet, but it’s possible. I know Lembata has good ikat as well!
Sand smugglers hey very interesting
Yeah, have you heard about that before? Is it not illegal to take sand from beached?
Great episode.
Thanks for watching! I’m happy you liked it. Have you ever been in these parts?

@@jekyllsride I encountered it once in Flores. I've heard it is pretty common in places visited by cruise ships.
Sand smugglers 😂.! I heard Alor has ikat nearly as good as Sumba.
