I was there for Tom's performances at The Green Room Lounge. This video does no justice to how funny he was live and doing an entire set.
Tom, my hubby and in-laws are from Sheffield and I took them tailgating for a Packers game a few years ago. They loved it! And the fans loved them too!
when i was younger i met a doppelganger of myself while working in a nightcliub, it was one of the weirdest things ever, it was literally like something from a twilightzone to look at another person and see yourself looking back at you.
I was with a friend who saw his doppelgänger sitting at another table at a restaurant. It was really creepy and I wish I had taken a picture
He looks identical to Aaron Rodgers except he's a bit more lanky and has a longer face.

This must be the most elaborate prank on the internet. I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't get it. I've seen Aaron Rogers maybe a only couple of times in the news, but there's no way I'd ever mix those two up. I wouldn't even consider them similar. I hate to ruin the gag if it actually is one, but somebody explain it to me if I'm missing the "real" joke.
They look more alike when Rodgers has a mustache.
I thought it was funny, but I could tell it wasn't Rodgers. First, Tom is really skinny. Second, when he was signing autographs, he was doing it left handed. Usually people who throw with their right arm also write with their right.
Explaining a joke never really works to the same effect as getting it the first time. Obviously, sitting at home not being directly put in these situations, you know they are not even close to the same person and you have no reason to want it to be that way either. You just get it or you don't. It depends on what level your brain works in this specific category. It's not better or worse, it just requires a specific part of the human facial recognition center to work in a way that allows for surrounding mistakes and inconsistencies to be overlooked. They look incredibly alike just based on the geometric features of their faces. I would say about 90% if there is such a thing (he's british, so he's gotta have the mandatory fucked up teeth), but only to people who on some level want it to actually be him. If you have no idea who either of them is in the first place and focus more on body language and body type in terms of what makes someone a good doppelganger, or you have trouble recognizing someone as the same person just because something on or around them changed even though you might even know the person, then you're not going to get this.
jsdima9113 I knew at first too and the left handed thing really gave it away. What's worse is they kept asking for autographs after seeing that. Come on people are they just star struck and too excited? Maybe they're just hoping it's him. You know how if you want to make yourself believe something?

That is brilliant and how good were the Packers and people of Green Bay being welcoming - I normally hate the Pack and GB the most out of all 32 teams in the NFL but hat off that was awesome!
It should also be noted that the Green Bay Packers have the best fans in the NFL according to Forbes...we love our Green and Gold, and we love our Pack! They're the nicest gentlemen in the league! GO PACK! GO!! Whether they win or lose, we line up at the airport terminal to welcome our team home from away games, and the city becomes a ghost town during a home game; we're either at Lambeau Field, or throwing epic Packer parties only Cheeseheads know how to throw!
WidowRose - I'm sorry to disagree but maybe on my TWO trips to Green Bay I must of come across the few bad eggs ya got - first time on my own in December 2001 came out of Lambeau after seeing my Lions loose and some douche shouted out Lions suck as I turned round to see who was shouting without having time to defend myself (hand in pockets) was punched in the face really hard that knocked me off my feet luckily straight into a snow pile - obviously cleared for the path walking or it could of been much worse. 2nd time 2012 early season Lions game @ Lambeau Field after tail gating at some radio shows thing in a marque on the main road was walking to the ground and had to two douches trying to start. Thinking I was alone one shoved me from behind in the back - I stumbled forward not expecting it and just about kept my feet so as not to face plant on the footpath. When I turned to confront who done this there was two fellas one laughing and I was like which one of you shoved us and then the taller one stepped up and shoved me again in the chest... looked like it was about to go down but then behind these guys my two friend that were not wearing Lions attire like me and walking further behind than myself came behind them - my friend Sammy - about 6'5, black and build of a linebacker (works freight on railways) tapped him on shoulder he turned around to see he was looking at my mates chest as he looked up my friend one hand scrunched his t-shirt up at the neck and lifted him clean off the ground up to his eye-level and inquired if he had a problem with Lions fans in general or just me (as in his friend) by doing this his un-zipped jacket opened up to expose his Michigan State t-shirt with this the dude that was laughing was no longer laughing and tapping Sammies arm pleading they didn't mean anything by it and that it was all a misunderstanding and his mate was drunk - imo - they thought I was alone and 2-1 they liked - 3-2 they didn't especially with the look of 1 man beast but only I know out the 3 of us Sammies a teddy Bear and I think would be the least dangerous of us in a rumble - Sammy put him down and they scuttled off. So them personal experiences make me think Green Bay is like any other fan base good fans and douches in equal measure!
bluelionman On behalf of all the good-natured and friendly Packer fans, I apologize for your horrible experiences at Lambeau Field. Of course there will always be assholes in every team fan base, but I'm sincerely sorry and ashamed to hear that on BOTH your trips to Green Bay, you met some of the biggest football jerks imaginable. I know there's the whole NFC North rivalry, but verbally insulting fans and physically assaulting them is absolutely inexcusable. In the end, it is only a game (although that doesn't keep me from being a bit grumpy after a Packers loss :P).
Lazyboy5298 Very nice of you sir - yeah I hear ya would not stop me going back to GB am sure could have a good time there but it's so easy for me to hate on the Packers as I get so envious of how class the organisation is and how well they seem to draft - every year since I been into the NFL they have had 2 HOF QB's the past master gun slinger tough as nails Brett Farve and now this new kid on the block Aaron Rodgers can't be flustered real deal QB - #It'sJustNotFair -- then the off the field Packers with their own Packer H.O.F. and how the whole team is loved by the city it's great - I have to say I reckon this possibly is the only city where if your born there and you like football 100% it's the local team you cheer for and not one else where in the US - in any of the other 31 NFL cities I guarantee that's not the case!
Then you find videos like above that shows off the great little things the team does like players riding the kids bikes to practice or inviting a stranger from overseas that looks like one of their star players and allowing NFL films to make a video with full access just ooze's class and that they know the fans are as important as their bottom line and they don't set themselves apart from the real people - it makes me envious!
But I am a Lion for life and so looking forward to this weekend being English and seeing my team in my countries capital city - just hope beyond hope it's not only an exciting game but that my Lions win! Go LIONS!
Usually it is all tongue and cheek and never actually mean spirited. Sounds like you and your friends were assaulted by a bunch of (drunk) assholes - who would be shamed and rejected immediately by real Packers fans. Friendliness, hospitality and contagious enthusiasm for the game is what Packers people take pride in - and you do feel that immediately coming into town, especially as someone from out-of-town (or in my case, from another continent - the old country). Everybody is supposed to feel welcome at Lambeau Field, which is also the core philosophy of the sports franchise itself - even in the old days, when that was not a given in many of the now 50 federal U.S. states, as it is still not to some degree these days. No matter who you are, where you're from, what you do, as long as you love m... I mean, football! Love football.
Apparently, "never" was not the correct word for my first statement. The vast majority of people do not have your experience at all, not even Chicago fans (must be the love-hate relationship). All the Packers fans I met when I visited Green Bay were warm and welcoming - we were even let inside the stadium to take pictures when it was completely empty in the middle of summer 2011, which is what turned me into a Packers fan myself (I had no choice but to after that experience). And once I got more into NFL football during the post-2011-championship season, I was completely hooked and have not missed a single game this season. XLIX here we come! This game is a thousand times more exciting and technically challenging than soccer over here - a.k.a. run around on the field for 90-95 minutes with barely any good athletic displays happening, and the few there are you can barely make out and appreciate. In NFL football, every single play always has a good chance of something truly amazing happening. You just get so much more bang for your buck in terms of the time you spend watching. One NFL quarter is easily worth more than an entire, excruciatingly long top tier match of soccer. And if there is any place in the U.S. that exemplifies that perfectly, it is Green Bay.

It's not a name I've ever heard in the UK. There are some American football fans here but it's quite specialist. Strangely, the people I know that like it are the geeky hipster crowd. Comic books, bowties, magic the gathering and American football.
