Coming from a Chelsea fan since 1995: Thierry Henry is the greatest ever Premier League player. Nobody scored the kind goals he did. Nobody was as terrifying to defenders as him. He scored plenty, he assisted plenty, he was faster than anyone around, he could score solo goals, long range goals, free kicks. He had it all. He was the one player I genuinely feared whenever Chelsea played. No other player or club ever gave me that feeling.

He was on the podium a few times, I realise not quite the same but...
Maybe this is because he stuck with Arsenal for too long, I think the same with Bergkamp.. they did win some titles in England but they weren't winning European trophies and were mostly 2nd best to either Utd or Chelsea.
Bergkamp never won a tournament with Holland and the 2 Henry won with France happened before he became the incredible player he was.
When he signed for Barcelona he was 30, the players there all said he was a player who should've joined them years before then. For 3 or 4 years at Arsenal he was the best striker in the world at the time without question. If he'd been in any of the AC Milan, Real Madrid, or Barcelona teams during that phase, say from 2001-2005... he would've won the champions league during his peak years and been the main man upfront. When he did eventually win it he was a strong member of the Barcelona team but he'd lost a little pace at almost 32years old, and although it was more about the team and that tiki taka they were famous for - Messi was the main man by that point.
I'm not sure if it was just the low camera angle at Highbury because it wasn't a big stadium, or if the pitch was that big either... but he performed on the big stages where the pitch is massive and there's extra room for fast players to really make use of their speed. Hattrick away to Roma in the studio olímpico, ran through Real Madrid's "Galácticos" at the Bernabéu, 2 goals against Inter Milan at the San Siro in a 1-5 away win... Arsenal losing the reverse fixture 0-3 at Highbury supports my point even further. In fact it's a similar story for all these ties. Arsenal did better playing away than they did at Highbury and that was hugely down to Henry and his pace.

CR7 and Messi obviously stack up and exceed (ironically they are from Henry's generation). However and this is no hate someone like Neymar to me is nowhere close to the Brazil greats of that era. R9, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Kaka (prime) all exceed him easily to me.

Imagine someone like Pirlo or even David Silva being compared to Grealish. No contest who is better. Neither of those guys ever came close to level of hype he has. Hell even Beckham who was similarly overhyped by england names Grealish seem pedestrian.
Football had a golden era in the 90s and 00s. Your comment kinda just opened my eyes to this honestly. Messi and Ronaldo are relics of the 00s and are still best in the world. It speaks to their greatness but also to the dropoff in raw talent.

Facing greats like the tough Juventus, Madrid real galactico, when his supporting cast was a 19 yr old fabregas, the entire Arsenal team just defends and play the ball to Henry, he does the rest, ripping all defenses ALONE.
