It’s great that the Surfliner service includes a snack in business class and that there is a cafe’ car for sandwiches. Sometime soon, I will be planning a long distance trip to San Diego from the east coast as a result of your video.
I don’t remember any tunnels I don’t think. It mainly goes along the coast near the beaches. Some parts though are closer to city/road traffic so you would see cars going by but I can’t remember any tunnels. Double check with the Amtrak staff and thank you for watching!
I don’t think so. No earlier than you normally would arrive for a departure. They work very quickly to load the bags on board the train which is great because the seats on the Oceanside of the train are first to fill up.
I was holidaying in California in October 2023. Great train ride, wish it was longer.

How did you find your train track? Was it confusing?
No it was pretty easy and there’s lots of staff to help you if you need directions.
Do you need to be at the station earlier for bag checking?

I’m sorry I couldn’t make it out, but is Ernie a dog??? I couldn’t tell. If do, this is GREAT!!! I’ve been wanting to travel with my dog!!
