fantastic news!!! Post secondary should be for domestic students first. Perhaps they will focus on the quality of education rather than butts in seats.
I was lucky enough to complete my education before The Great Dumbening. Then, the university system was still greatly beneficial to Canada and Canadians. Now it largely serves as a giant mechanism for political indoctrination and miseducation. So to the extent that this amounts to de-funding, it pains me to say that I am glad.
$8000 for four months tuition in a city with rents exceeding $3,000 per month. I could literally afford a 50% tuition hike before I could afford more rent.
I would require all educational institutions to provide housing for international student (at least 50%). If they have only 16 000 beds for international student combined - the cap would be 32 000 international students.
International student numbers are still high. Cap should be put on each program . Only 25% of international students should be allowed for each program .
So you have a model in which the quality of your higher ed is subsidized by international students. Now remove the international students and bring the quality down so the domestic students will have a higher chance at a lower quality education. Did you have to go to school to learn that ?
So sad. They say they can't fund their over priced facilities. They build and build and expect to just charge more and more. No remorse for bad businesses. If you don't have the beds why import the students? Maybe build more housing facilities so you can house all your students.
And you see, this is why I usually sympathize with Justin Trudeau. A portion of the population would like to see a decrease in immigration, another portion would like to see an increase in immigration because they benefit financially from it. There is absolutely no way to please everyone.
So these international students have to take out 10s of thousands in loans, can’t get a job, most likely will move back home because the degree won’t grant them a job suitable for the debt they accumulated. But the school gets paid and loans most likely go default when the student leaves for home…. A scenario based on reality
So these institutions never consider their own communities, never mind the families of these students who are giving away their entire life's savings to make them get into these institutions. What a rotten system.
How does thr govt and institutions expect international students to pay as high as 56,000 per year and not get permanent residency? Locals cant afford this fee and they are on student loans ..56K per year is an investment and dont forget that Canada advertised that international students are the most adjusted to Canadian life!
And homegrown Canadian students have been getting the short end of the post-educational system for years - in a large part so Canadian universities can attract and pay for ‘big name’ academics who demand big salaries. It’s all about money and prestige and our students are at the bottom of that food chain. It’s a national disgrace.

to *launder corrupt money by buying up big houses.*
you forgot, "and hiding their purchases in numbered corporations, made legal by Brian Mulroney when he amended the finance act in 1987." Sorry, people need to make sure to include that bit.
Old racket lol
Good. Canadian schools should be for canadians
🇨🇦 first.
Finally the truth is out : in a business of making money.
Secondary objective is: Providing education that dsnt get you any job or help u in life.
Or help in spelling apparently.
Miller is all about paper mill
Yea maybe stop increasing the salaries of their employees year on year by high digits exceeding inflation. How is it that some non research based tenured prof is making more than high-volume lawyers or physicians when all the prof does is lecture a day a week and have TAs as slave labour.
There are plenty of dubious colleges in Canada -- find them and close them down. These are primarily PR mills.
Maybe Canadians can go to school now? Being that generations of our ancestors paid for this educational system we barely have access too now!
These colleges brought in international students on made up courses and made billions. However, all these students staying back caused housing crisis and unemployment to Canadians.
Check out who owns these so called colleges. They need to be closed down.
Dean Philpott topped the charts as Queen's highest earner, receiving a $546,053 paycheque from the University. Coming to Queen's in 2020, Philpott has consistently been in Queen's top five salaried employees.
Sickening
Can someone publish Queen's int'ntl enrollment nos over a decade or more ? That will make the rackets more clearer lol
they are more like international workers to me, at least i see them working in the walmart near me
High quality post secondary education - no value for money.
Are schools there for education or profit? If they can no longer afford to run without foreign students let them reduce their expenditures or close down frivolous courses.
They say they have high quality education? Literally one of my college classroom had no plugs for our laptops and this is a computer science lab class. Where we work on a lab in the classroom through our laptop.
Let’s see a 90% decline
😂 canadians thought that people were coming to Canada for good education, though it was all about immigration 😂😂😂
fantastic news!!! Post secondary should be for domestic students first. Perhaps they will focus on the quality of education rather than butts in seats.
Would be sustainable if it drops another 90%…since last year nearly a million international students were allowed in. 500k is still too high a figure.
Spending money wisely and universities will be fine. Bankruptcy is necessary to ensure schools take consequences for their irresponsible spendings!
Good should go down 100% college and universities spoiled by the foreign student program.
1:40 more restrictions more more more. Stay out. Canada is full.
Shut down diploma mills
$8000 for four months tuition in a city with rents exceeding $3,000 per month. I could literally afford a 50% tuition hike before I could afford more rent.
This is beyond insane to the point where no words can describe it.
I guess the fees for domestic students will go up to make up the drop of international students enrollment.
When these institutions house the people they are attracting, then they can talk.
This is good news. This loophole should have been closed long time ago... all international students pay higher fees in any other country. USA or UK
The universities should also try reducing the administrators by 45% and instead focus on professors and students.
I would require all educational institutions to provide housing for international student (at least 50%). If they have only 16 000 beds for international student combined - the cap would be 32 000 international students.
If they bring in students then build dorms for them
Why didn't the Universities and Colleges build housing for all these International students and charge them rent, additional income
Indian failed IELTS students looking for PR in Canada…..????
65% to go!
This scam should be stopped
They are paying exorbitant salaries to the professors.
Actually, it's administration that is profiting from all this.
The question isn't how Canadians want to fund these institutions. That's the institutions problem.
They’re complaining about the costs then stay home
International student numbers are still high. Cap should be put on each program . Only 25% of international students should be allowed for each program .
So you have a model in which the quality of your higher ed is subsidized by international students. Now remove the international students and bring the quality down so the domestic students will have a higher chance at a lower quality education.
Did you have to go to school to learn that ?
So sad. They say they can't fund their over priced facilities. They build and build and expect to just charge more and more. No remorse for bad businesses. If you don't have the beds why import the students? Maybe build more housing facilities so you can house all your students.
If you charge that much for their tuition why aren’t you also o responsible for housing them on campus on,y?
And you see, this is why I usually sympathize with Justin Trudeau. A portion of the population would like to see a decrease in immigration, another portion would like to see an increase in immigration because they benefit financially from it. There is absolutely no way to please everyone.
Lets get that percentage to 100%
There's no point to go to school if AI is going to take over
AI is not going to take over in that sense. People still need visual learning as well, AI isn't capable enough and wont be for over 100 years.
@@neverendingproductions7171 libraries are free
Lol high quality education. One of the worst now by far! Totally woke .
For real. Performing stereotaxic surgery on a rat to allow electrodes to be placed in specific brain regions is so woke.
If not woke one is? Asleep? Dozy? Obvious ? Or just dense?
The fact that you invoke ‘woke’ is an indication that you didn’t spend much time in school
@@Rhdlm-yo1tv Just Conservative or Russian (it's the same thing).
So these international students have to take out 10s of thousands in loans, can’t get a job, most likely will move back home because the degree won’t grant them a job suitable for the debt they accumulated. But the school gets paid and loans most likely go default when the student leaves for home…. A scenario based on reality
What counts is quality education. Not everyone should go to University...many do and then become paper pushes.
Good. Stay out
So these institutions never consider their own communities, never mind the families of these students who are giving away their entire life's savings to make them get into these institutions.
I thought that's what the canadian wanted, now crying 😢 again
I don't believe it's down. All I see now where I live in E Indians & other Asian's.
Good. Get more canadains. Its time Canadains are put first
And homegrown Canadian students have been getting the short end of the post-educational system for years - in a large part so Canadian universities can attract and pay for ‘big name’ academics who demand big salaries. It’s all about money and prestige and our students are at the bottom of that food chain. It’s a national disgrace.
it's because what was once referred to as an international student is now a Permanent Canadian Citizen... The numbers don't add up lol trust me we got exactly the same if not MORE now..
Saver economies should not trade with l00ter economies. This is simply colonialism with another name. Canada's leftist liberal l00ters (teachers, universities, public servants, union leaders, not for profit, city halls, liberals) after l00ting middle class of canada r l00ting people from economies with lesser taxes and better economies (which is why they r able to save as compared to the horrificness called Canada). Although Canada is an international laughing stock it is still not perceived as colonial.
As an International student, though I moved to Canada a decade ago initially to look for a deeper meaning in life, I still kinda felt being scammed by the Government for spending a huge sums of tuition to end up with a useless diploma which leads to unemployment . I have contributed soooo much 😮for Canadian economy for the past 11 years( actually my parents paid everything), but still neither me nor my family have received any benefits from this country so far. I don’t even have a family doctor, and my family don’t even want to come here so it’s just me alone! Still, I remind myself everyday that I ‘m not here to have a comfortable life , but to grow and to learn❤. I’m happy to be a volunteer here just to help out , dispute being perceived poorly by the media and society as if I ‘m a communist spy from China coming here just to rape everyone and to spread disease. No one trusts me but I put my trust in GOD. I know GOD is watching ✝️. I think finding god is the best outcome possible for me from immigrating to Canada.
They are here now, no need to enroll.
Yup! Just got my daughter an apartment because there are no available dorms, housing is most of the cost of her school year.
These Colleges and Universities (like governments) need to streamline their operations in order to reduce costs.
My daughter is in her second year of College and the amount of waste and bureaucracy that exists now, is far worse than what it was when I went to College in the 90's.|
