    My father is 83. I have every issue of bassmaster magazine from feb 1970 he owned. The problem is we have been lied to for ever. Tight wiggle in winter, jerk baits only in cold water. Almost all of the articles in these magazines are not true. Only when fishing went live did we get to see the truth.

      The thing about fishing is you can make it yours(ive seen my brother slay all year with white on white buzzbaits)

    • @IrishRebel88
      @IrishRebel88 Рік тому

      You weren't lied to really - they just reported and explained what they thought to be true at the time - or what was true where the author of the article fished. I don't think Bassmaster magazine was intentionally trying to mislead people. If they did, people wouldn't have felt like they were learning anything if their catch rates didn't improve and they'd have stopped buying into B.A.S.S. altogether. Same with In-Fisherman and other fishing mags at the time. Technology changes, tactics change and people learn more and more about fish behavior and how to catch them every year.

      I kill it in the summer with a jerkbait. Not sure why everyone says jerkbaits work best in cold water. The key is the depth!

    Some commenters are saying it’s BS about the 30-50 bass a day. Poor souls. I really hope they are new to the sport. One of the best days I ever had was in December in a cold, clear-water Dale Hollow. 31 Smallmouth on float-n-flies and Whirly Bees. I’ve had a few days with WELL over that on other lakes.

      @@smelltheglove2038I was killing them on a little 1/8-1/4 Johnson paddle tail swim jigs back in May but haven't caught any on it since June. I did catch my first bass on a jerk bait in June though. Threw on a cheapy pink jerk bait that I've had for ever and never tried, don't even know what brand as I think I got it off of Wish before Temu came out. Was just trying it out and on my second cast my wife called because she had to pick me up early, so I had paused the jerk bait while I spoke with her for about a minute. Hung up and started reeling the jerk bait in thinking I wasn't going to catch anything they day but to my surprise I felt stuck on something and then figured out there was a bass on the line. 😁
      I've always read to pause the jerk baits for a little bit and it apparently does work but I'll have to try the rapid twitch with no pause since I mainly bank fish shallow areas.

      That is more than wind. Sounds like someone tried to fix it using an audio filter, and they didn't know what they were doing. If you buy a set of Rode wireless Go II's, that will fix your problem. They come with a "dead cat" filter that you can place over the transmitter. That takes out most wind noise. You can clip it to your shirt, and your audio will sound great.
