  • In this video I tackle the replacement of the serpentine belt. Do not make the T50 tool as I demonstrate unless you need to change the idler pulley.

Good video. What is the recommended time to change the idler pully?

Well, I’m not sure on that. Historically I’ve only replaced them when they started to make noise. The bearings in pulley will start to make some noise and that’s your sign that it’s on its way out.

Performed this service on my 997.1 3.6 very similar, but I didn't need to make the tool. Still fiddly, but not to the extent of your car

Thanks for pointing that out. That goofy little tool I made would only be utilized if you are replacing the idler pulley. Still, not the most difficult job but a bit of a challenge to get the new belt on. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Well done... so, all you’d really need is the 30mm tool for the belt replacement itself?

@@johng.3906 All you need is the large 30mm wrench for the idler pulley and the socket wrench for the engine carrier bolt. The T50 tool I made is not necessary unless you are replacing the idler pulley. Thanks for watching and hope the video helps you out.
