It beats the hell out of me why someone would dislike a video as informative as this (maybe they were having a bad day). As always thanks Cap, great video!
Probably someone trying to train the recommendation algorithm, I think the algorithm recommends based on likes and dislikes. For example, if someone who doesn't know what DCS is gets this in their feed they might dislike it because it's not relevant to them. Don't know if that's what's going on for sure but it seems like that might be a portion of dislikes in any video.
Also, the RWR will display any SAMs in the area. Symbology is “2” for SA2’s, “6” for SA6, etc. Somewhat helpful if you’re trying to locate SAMs with the HAD.
I've just been trying the new modes out for the AGM-88C HARM in the F/A-18C & F-16C. Just had a test mission where I was flying just below 30,000ft, IAS was 464 Knots in an F-16C. I fired a HARM at a P-19 Search radar at a range of 54.44 nautical miles in POS-PB mode and it hit & destroyed the target. It does appear that they have improved the AGM-88C HARM.
@@grimreapersthe F-15E and Eurofighter will be the most capable modules of modern fighter aircraft in the sim, id say the Eurofighter will be the most capable because of its versatility and armament then I’d say it’s then the F-15E strike eagle, and third place would be the F-16CJ.
Enjoy your videos and always enjoy your tutorials. But did you miss speak when referencing the FPM (flight path marker)? You kept calling it the velocity vector. I recall the gun cross as being the velocity vector due to that is exactly where the nose of the aircraft is pointing.
I’m a little confused about these modes, You stated about how a Steer point need to be within 5nm from the Sam, but in a current mission I’m do, I place the steer point next to the desired same, have the right HARM code in the UFC, yet the harm missile goes for a different sam sight 15 nm away
Hey Cap, thanks for this great and detailed tutorial series, it makes things so much easier for new pilots like me, its just so much to keep track of. I'm currently learning the F-16C (and DCS in general) and while practicing basic manouvers and stalls, I found that even if when absolutely abusing the controls the F-16 seemingly always recovers in a matter of seconds (It might just be the Fly by Wire saving my ass ?). So wanted to ask if it is actually possible for the aircraft to get in like a Spin or sustained fall ? Thanks again, love your videos, keep it up.
Hello! Thank you for the video. Curious if I am on a MP server with preset steer points if I can still use POS modes without having radars near a steer point. Thank you
i watched as 2 of my harms went up to 80k feet and then came down and smacked 2 radars with pinpoint precision. not sure if they're going to tone them down a bit but i kinda hope they dont lmao.
Tolerance varies. 80nm is a good or even best case for total missile range. EOM Test: HARMs are not waiting to turn on seeker. At 60km I had 40km lateral steer position and missiles steered back front toward emitter during first few seconds of climb. It looks like some kind of flex logic is coded so you basically can't miss. If there is an emitter of that type out there it will find it (at least in my ~30 deg error test). It does go for the assigned area by priority. Be aware a decoy emitter could easily fool this logic by dragging a missile off axis. I fired HARMs at each others targets about 30km apart laterally and they switched and hit crossing away from their original destination. From what I can tell it looks like the HARM "glances" over at the assigned point up to 60deg off axis. If specified threat isn't there it turns to known available detected threats. Further tests will have to be done to determine if it values location or type more if none of assigned type is detected (it will also kill non-assigned type if assigned type not avail). These seem complex in logic and it will take a lot of testing to figure it out. PB seems to have an ability to see somewhere around 60 deg off axis as well. I guess RUK probably too. RUK flies flat and in test putting emitter of assigned type only different in range both near/far RUK both went for first emitter of type it saw (no priority to range correlation).
Hey can someone help me out please? I’ve been debating between buying the F18 or the Jf17 and I can’t decide. I want whichever is going to be best at taking out ships at a long range. I’ve been doing tons of research but I can’t seem to find a definite answer for which is best due to both modules being early access. Thanks in advance! Edit: I ended up buying both :D

Dude, on POS mode, SA-10 sites are no longer a threat to me. Literally, I disable them 100% of the time, before I'm even within their firing range. This must be a mistake, yes? If SA-10's aren't a threat anymore, then what is?
With scripts like IADS they are still very deadly. If the site shuts it's radar off the missiles have a low chance of hitting. The big thing in SEAD is making SAMs turn off to get a strike force through the sam net.

There are a lot of nasty people into this game. Never seen anything like it before.
The 2 dislikes came from the SAM crew.

I really can't wait til the F-16 is as complete as the A-10CII is... It will be the most OP, unstoppable aircraft in the entire sim!
Will it be able to take out ships?
You could crash into the bridge?

Harms have ridiculous long range now with the new modes.
I had a successful attack with a HARM from a distance of 67.4nm from 40,000ft at Mach 1.2 in an F/A-18C.
According to Wikipedia, the standard HARM has a range of up to 80 nautical miles.

Those SA-6s were really in _HARM's_ way.
Cap do we know the max range the sam cam be away from the steerpoint in PB mode? I know RUK is 20nm. Cheers.
I can't find that data sorry

If done right, the Su-25T can shoot the bigger ones from like 300km (~160nm) with fully manual lofting...
They’ve just done a huge amount of work to improve the HARM. I had a HARM loft up to 74,400 feet! Longest range HARM that hit was 67.4nm.
How far is the max range in pos mode exactly now? And how far is the tolerance for pos mode? 10 feet? 100 feet? 1 mile?
I haven't been able to find the tolerance anywhere. Apparently over 80 miles I have heard.
