When we read Puranas we have to connect with that god and first ask the blessings of that lord to make us understand the true meaning. Taking literal meaning is not going to help. Peacock and lord muruga are associated with each other. Lord muruga and peacock are associated with aum( pranavam) . When we understand various other aspects one day we can connect the dots !
