I agree David, His rendition of Malaguna was one of the Very Best versions of that tune that i Ever heard played. He was one of the Very Best ,My Favorite player anyway R.I.P. Roy to you and your Son.Forever Loved and Never Forgotten ! .
Grew up watching heehaw. It was the 70s and it always came on tv every saturday evening. It was a big part of my generation growing up. Thanks for the memories Roy. Rip.
When I was a kid in the 70s I was forced to watch every episode of Hee Haw...my mother had control of the TV. Roy Clark was a great person and a hell of a guitar player!
In the 70s I forced my kids to watch Hee Haw....I had control of the TV. They were little so they kinda like the noise and the fast movements of the show.
When I was a young kid I was in love with Roy Clark! So much so that when I was in the hospital as a young kid, I received a stuffed rooster toy and I named it after him - I still have it today!
Even to this day I'm a huge fan of Hee Haw and it was one of my favorite shows when I was really young in the late 70s - early 80s. Lots of corny humor, great singing, and hot women. The dialogue and jokes had a feel of being "under rehearsed" and choppy, but it sailed very well with a large audience. Some were well known, such as Minnie Pearl (Grand Ole Opry legend), George Lindsay (Goober from Andy Griffith), and Gunilla Hutton (Petticoat Junction), and some were married to famous people, such as Marianne Gordon Rogers (married to Kenny Rogers) and Linda Thompson (once married to Bruce, now Caitlyn, Jenner). Some also posed for Playboy, such as Barbi Benton and Anne Randall. Roy Clark was certainly a very talented banjo picker and great singer as well. RIP my friend.
My Grandad used to love watching Hee Haw! He thought it was so funny. As a kid, I thought it was a stupid show. Roy Clark was an amazing guitar & banjo player though! Very talented💙
The man was tremendously talented. My parents used to make me watch Hee-Haw if I wanted to watch TV at all as they had control of the television. And while I don't like country music and never really have, I appreciated his musical talent and the fact that he and Buck Owens were pickin and a grinin. The jokes were really corny and I used to want to look like Barbie Benton. Lol
When I saw you walk by that grave on your other channel the other day, I hurried up and commented, you passed one of the greatest musician’s the world had ever known, so now if you’re gonna go down the rabbit hole of Roy, Clark, you got to do his old buddy, which was in your video he was the barber on hee haw Archie Campbell and the ‘ree little thrigs and the other skit of his rinder sella !! I just UA-cam those two skits you will die laughing
Thanks to Roy I fell in LOVE with Banjo music. It was so fun to watch HeeHaw when I was a kid. One of the Greatest Musicians EVER ! Thanks for doing this Exact story Lamont. This talented man deserves all the recognition and accolades possible ! Take Care. Yup Jimmy Dean didn't start his sausage business until he was almost retirement age I think it was. But yes very Famous way before the sausage!
This reminds me of the late 60s-early 70s. I was away at college and sometimes was at my boyfriend's house, I think this was in Saturday night. Such a silly show, but older people found it funny, I do remember Roy Clark was a good musician. May he rest in peace.
Honestly being on Hee Haw was actually a smaller stepping stone in compared to what he did with his life, one of the greatest musicians ever play a stringer anything really, goes to show what a master this guy was 🙏🏼 rest in power and great job Lamont
I grew up watching Hee Haw when I was little. I didn't know much about Roy Clark until I bought some LP albums at a swap meet, which included one of his albums. To say the very least, he was an extremely underrated musician. He was amazingly talented at both guitar and banjo, and he had a very unique voice. As soon as he opened his mouth, you never had to ask who that was singing. Anyone familiar with vintage country music would recognize his voice in seconds. Thanks for showing us his final resting place. Oklahoma is a lovely state. If I had to live in the midwest again, that's where I would go. Good video, as always.
I am a rock guy but Roy Clark was a true shredder he really really was a fine musician. Definitely a shredder! I've read some interviews buy some rock guys that they loved his pla playing. Just a great all-around musician!
I remember this when I was a little haw, I’m not sure if it was reruns but it was in the 80s . I just remember the donkey saying heeehawww 😂. 80s humor was so different in the 80s and 90s
Back in my radio days I got to meet Roy when he had a show in the town I worked. I waited on his tour bus, we played around on some video games and he gave a wonderful interview (for a realitive radio Newby 😊) super nice guy and a great memory.
I had a chance to play guitar with Roy Clark and friends, after hours, in a old store (Gee's) in Meherrin Va. I thought the invite was a joke since I was new in the area and didn't go. The store owner heard me play before and had talked me up to Roy. Roy Clark had even hunted quail on my property before my family bought it, so he knew where I lived. Roy returned to his home in Meherrin on holidays. I never was invited to their get togethers afterwards. People around here are "funny" that way.
Last week i was looking at a old show called the odd couple. And Roy Clark was the special guest on the show and he was jamming on them banjos and guitars . And i was thinking whatever happened to him. Thanx man. 👍🏾💯 Hee Haw was a funny ass show. Like Benny Hill was. RIP roy Clark and benny hill
Hee Haw was a formula that appealed to a country sense of humor and fans of country music. It was on during an era that just meshed perfectly with the demographics and rural background of a massive chunk of the US population at that time. It was almost a phenomenon. Anybody that was somebody in country music made a guest appearance on Hee Haw. Some appeared multiple times. My wife's 3rd or 4th cousin was Roy's bus driver for a time. Back when Roy was playing small venues, my in-laws got to meet him in their little Colorado town. You mentioned Wanda Jackson, She did a show in that same little Colorado town in the late 1990s. That was a fun memory. She was still reaching out to her audience as a semi retired entertainer after all those years. Many of these famous stars were as down to earth as your neighbor next door. They remembered their roots and fan base forever.
Saw Roy Clark at the Western Washington State Fair, probably in 1980. One of my fondest and last memories of my dad, who loved Roy Clark Yesterday When I Was Young was his greatest hit
In the 80s my dad always took me to his hometown North Carolina and my Aunt and Uncle watched Hee Haw every Saturday at Dinnertime. I wasn't use to country life. But I loved watching them enjoy the show.
I knew his daughter Donna who lived in my hometown of Parkersburg wva she was confined to a wheelchair she told me her dad left them and never would even call or was never in her life she was never bitter always a joyful person we built a ramp 4 her such a beautiful person
Hostess with the mostest ❤ wish you would have loaded this a bit earlier, I was at my Besties house could have enjoyed it there discussing your greatness
I absolutely love Roy Clark!!! Watched Hee Haw!!! I had a friend who worked with Mr. Clark on television in the 1950's. He said that Mr. Clark was very quiet and seemed like a very reflective person.
Roy Clark could shred that guitar too. You wonder one of the reasons why Eddie Van Halen was so good. One of the bests things was, he could be comical also while playing just as well.
I loved Hee Haw. I grew up in Georgia, but I was born in Bakersfield CA, so since Buck Owens was so well known in that area, my parents always watched it. I just grew up on it and always enjoyed it. Roy Clark was an amazing musician. The show still comes on RFD TV out of Fort Worth Texas.
Roy Clark's talent was in his ability to pick the guitar. He along with performers like Les Paul and Chet Atkins made guitar playing an art. So many have come along to strum electric guitars, pick a few chords on bass, bang drums, and scream lyrics into microphones or just scream into microphones and claim to be talented. Nope, Roy Clark along with those previously mentioned, were real talent the real deal.
I have so many memories of growing up watching that with my whole family ..my mom n dad watched every episode!!!!!!. I miss my mom n dad n family ..all i have is the cherished fond memories
I remember my dad watched Hee Haw when I was a kid. I thought the show was silly but Roy Clark was an awesome guitar player and host along with Buck Owens.
Oh Wow Yes!! I Remember watching HeeHaw as a Teenager, It was on T.V. Where I Lived On Saturday Evenings, I Remember Roy Clark and Buck Owens Hosting HeeHaw!! Great Memories!! LovedThat Show!! Loved Country Music and still do!!Roy always had that smile! and oh yes, I remember Jimmy Dean being a Country Music singer!! really surprised me when Jimmy Dean started his own brand of Sausage. Thank you So Very Much Lamont for bringing me to see one of my All time Favorite songs sung and played by one of my All time Favorite artists Roy Clark. and the song is called, Yesterday. If you have not listened to it Lamont give it a listen, It is on You Tube. I Love it and i have been playing it every now and then for many yrs. I never Ever thought i would be able to visit Roy's grave, but Thanks to you Lamont you have made it possible. I truly do miss the older generation who are no longer with us 😢
Roy Clark was known as one the best guitarists ever..
Grew up watching heehaw. It was the 70s and it always came on tv every saturday evening. It was a big part of my generation growing up. Thanks for the memories Roy. Rip.
Wow really

When I was a kid in the 70s I was forced to watch every episode of Hee Haw...my mother had control of the TV. Roy Clark was a great person and a hell of a guitar player!
Same here. But I ended up kinda liking it. Lol
In the 70s I forced my kids to watch Hee Haw....I had control of the TV. They were little so they kinda like the noise and the fast movements of the show.
Same. I had younger siblings and it was a family show. The double entendres were PG and went over the heads of most of us kiddies.
Came on after Lawrence Welk, we too had one tv, getting color tv was a big deal too back then
Sometimes talent is god-given,!0 a great talent!!!,
Roy Clark. Such a master musician
I loved to watch and hear him play his instruments.
My parents never missed an episode of Hee-Haw. In the 70s, we had just one TV and if that show was on we knew not to ask to change the channel.
Oh yes my dad won't let you touch the tv if that was on 😂👍
When I was a young kid I was in love with Roy Clark! So much so that when I was in the hospital as a young kid, I received a stuffed rooster toy and I named it after him - I still have it today!
Cool story ...I was in love with Farrah Fawcett...haha..
I was born in '67 and I loved HEE HAW!❤
I was too
I loved watching Hee Haw! 😢 RIP 🪦
I remember my Dad watching hee haw when i was a kid. I can still see him laughing at the skits they did. RIP to both my Dad and Roy Clark 😢
Roy had a marvelous voice and a wondertful musician!! My favorite song he sung was " Yesterday when I was young"
Absolutely, that was the first thing I thought...his song...great song
Mickey Mantle requested he sing that song at his funeral.
I loved Hee Haw..we need more shows like this.
Even to this day I'm a huge fan of Hee Haw and it was one of my favorite shows when I was really young in the late 70s - early 80s. Lots of corny humor, great singing, and hot women. RIP Roy Clark. Thanks Lamont
Roy was a kind hearted man he mentored me ! I miss him !
One of my grandma’s favorite shows along with gun smoke and bonanza.
The man was tremendously talented. My parents used to make me watch Hee-Haw if I wanted to watch TV at all as they had control of the television. This guy could play literally ANYTHING

He blew the lid off of other guitarist. Pure talent and a quick wit.

Hey Lamont!I love Hee Haw.When I was a kid a neighbor went on to be a regular on Hee Haw,his name was Kenny Price.
Loved Hee Haw as a kid..use to watch it with my dad every week.
Roy Clark playing Folsom Prison Blues is legendary!
As a guitar player. He rivaled some of rocks fastest guitarists.

Thanks for remembering Mr. Roy Clark
I was in the 6th grade in the mid 60's and every week both my parents actually sat down and watched and laughed and enjoyed the music.
Roy Clark spread the love and his grave is so prominent and shows the love in return by the lake with Roy’s relief. Thanks for this upload tribute.
Honestly being on Hee Haw was actually a smaller stepping stone in compared to what he did with his life, one of the greatest musicians

I grew up watching Hee-Haw faithfully😊
I Searched Tha World Over & Thought I Found True Love, Here Came Another & 😛 U Were Gone🎼🎶😂😂😂
I love Roy Clark. I saw him at old Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Saw Roy Clark at the Western Washington State Fair, probably in 1980. One of my fondest and last memories of my dad, who loved Roy Clark
Yesterday When I Was Young was his greatest hit
The song yesterday when I was young was a really beautiful song. He was a master of all stringed instruments.
Roy Clark was one of the greatest guitarists of all-time. I wish people would keep him in mind when putting together their "greatest list".
I used to love that show as a kid!! Thanks for the memories Lamont! 😍
I love your humor, Lamont. I grew up watching Hee Haw. It really became a hit when Elizabeth Taylor's daughter came on and stayed.

Meherin Virginia is about 60 miles SW of Richmond. Roy plays a mean version of the Spanish instrumental 'Malaguena'
Great video Lamont!
I always liked Roy Clark and is why I watched hee haw
Roy Clark was born in Meherrin, VA. Lamont this town is located outside of Farmville, VA. I was born and raised in Farmville, spent time in Meherrin.
Another actor from Hee-Haw was String Bean. Unfortunately he was murdered by thieves who killed both him and his wife.
In the 80s my dad always took me to his hometown North Carolina and my Aunt and Uncle watched Hee Haw every Saturday at Dinnertime. I wasn't use to country life. But I loved watching them enjoy the show.
Roy was a helluva picker, very very talented guitar & banjo player. Often underrated but musicians definitely appreciate him
I loved watching Hee Haw. Even went to a taping once!

When you finish watching our friend Lamont's video, look up Roy singing "Thank God And Greyhound". You will not be disappointed!
I watch Hee Haw ever Saturday. I enjoyed Roy and Buck. Rip Roy.

Cool headstone, someone else showed the grave but the stones weren't placed yet.
Roy Clark played on guitar and sang Amazing Grace at Mickey Mantle's funeral.
Excellent video !
Always watched hee haw with my grandparents back in the day. Great video, RIP Mr Clark
Roy Clark was a phenomenal guitar player and a singer. Thank you for sharing Lamont.
Nicely done Lamont.
I always thought hee haw was the country version of laugh in. Loved both shows
I loved Hee Haw.
Roy Clark was one of the best guitar players if not the best guitar player of his time.
I watched him all the time grandmas favorite show
My Father controlled the TV when I was growing up, if we wanted to watch TV we watched what he had on, Hee Haw was a super great show.
Roy Clark's mother on the Beverly hillbillies was Johnathan winters.
Family style humor, a gentle (over your head - risque) humor.
Loved it lomont
Beautiful resting place for Roy and son
Another great one!
Nice headstone . RIP Roy and Son.💜💜🎵🎶🎵🎶💯

I remember my dad watched Hee Haw when I was a kid. I thought the show was silly but Roy Clark was an awesome guitar player and host along with Buck Owens.
They did the picking and grinding segment all the time
