what i loved about this movie is that nothing really happened. it was just a gang of bros having a nice three days before university started again. no cringe, no nastyness, just a true feel-good movie. 10/10
Awesome movie. It really did feel like the sequel to dazed and confused. Makes me want to ring up some friends and hang. Richard Linklater, always captures the essence of interaction in real life American culture. Each character had their own personalities and was believable, it makes you go "Man I use to know a guy like that". Yet another masterpiece from Richard Linklater.
I always meant to watch 'Dazed and Confused'. For a while, it was a phrase of mine. I'm watching "Everybody Wants Some', right now. I don't want to watch 'Dazed and Confused', any more.
Stiffyrabbit jr Watch Dazed. It's an awesome movie. Don't compare it to Everybody, just know that they complement each other. In fact the only way I could say that Linklater could have improved Everybody is if he made Jake Bradford, Mitch Kramer. You'll know what I mean when you watch Dazed.
Logan Cracraft Well, if you can't trust a complete stranger in another country, who can you trust!? I'm gonna watch Dazed after all, based on the strength and conviction of your comments. But I warn you - I am not happy with Hollywood. I watched Masterminds last week, and haven't stopped cutting myself since! I can't take many more awful films so, if Dazed sucks, I'm gonna have to cut somebody else! p.s. More generally, everybody should watch, 'The End of the Tour', and/or, if you're feeling less arty and more 'headshot', 'The Accountant'. Time spent, not wasted.
Yes, and then some. It's real, you just know it, you can feel it. For young adults who want to know what their parents were really like, and kids curious about their grandparents world, watch it. Two scenes really stick out for me: The ax and the baseball for its wildness dressed like "oh it's what we do." And the part where the leader and best player, the guy with the mustache, is looking suspiciously at the hero cause he's going to a " drama" party. It's subtle but I think it probably represents the chiding that Mr. Eclectic, Rick Linklater, got from the very different social groups he hung out with. Very real.
This a movie that you won't know you wanted and needed to watch. It's got great directing, smooth pace and dialogue, it's witty and funny. Great choice of cast, chemistry blends perfectly between all characters over the space of 3 days. It's not your typical boy makes mistake, get's in trouble for it with other guys or girl movie. This makes it even more enjoyable and entertaining the whole way through considering there isn't a step by step narrative, it's just fulfilling to watch, makes you feel good and makes you want more. I wouldn't go to imdb with this one, the reviews are overly pretentious and harsh.
really great film, one of those what makes you want to be there having the time of your life with the guys. I think the dude who played finn stole the show, great character.
I CANNOT WAIT!! I am an 80's kid & from those who have seen it & who are also "Dazed & Confused" fans like me, it's the older brother to it! Richard Linklater always knows how to make a great movie! So blessed to be an 80's kid....life was cooler & easier & not as scary as today!
One of the funniest films of recent times, enjoyed this one a lot! Something very heartfelt and authentic about their acting, and the movie as a whole, it's not your typical film about a bunch of college dudes. Refreshing!
Terrific movie. Brings back memories of my childhood. Completely puts the viewer in the summer of 1980, perfectly, from the music to the clothing, everything.
I'm a child of the eighties and : yes, it was like that ... The clothes, the behavior, the hair , the childish games... Most comments are really negative but all these scenes sound familiar and authentic to me .
I added this to my "Greatest Movie" list. This film pretty much accurately captures s the year 1980 College Life. It's official this is one of ny favourite movies of all time now. 👍👍😉😉
A critic said it best when summing up this movie. “ what everyone wants in this film isn’t just success and stardom on the field. It’s what we all want. It’s time”
+trog lodyte its about 4 years before a decade really takes on its own identity. So this movie is set before people started wearing neon and shoulder pads.
+trog lodyte This movie will be 10x better than the overrated and regretful The Breakfast Club--considered an "80s classic". "Dazed and Confused" was such a great movie. The Breakfast Club was a prissy azz kissing student's version of the 1980s.
+ty pe Did you grow up in the 80s? Unless you did, you wouldn't understand the impact that The Breakfast Club had on us kids back then. It is a classic because it was the first time that a movie openly acknowledged serious domestic, mental, and social issues. Back then, there was a "no see, no tell" kind of philosophy and The Breakfast Club was brave enough to expose that.
teen wolf has been pretty shit lately too, tho. It's been a ongoing task watching that show because of curiosity alone. Who knows, this movie could be a surprise.
+obrien bae he's at 0:20 in the yellow tank saying "who the hell are you?" and still managing to rock the hell out of that mustache... how do you do it derek
this is probably one of the absolute best sports movies ever made.... and it happens to be about baseball, which is a huge plus. in addition to that.... even though baseball plays a huge part... it's just an all around good party movie with surprisingly deep characters.
Main character is "Jake", but easily could have been "Mitch Kramer", freshman in high school in 76', freshman in college in 80', Pitcher in both films. Anyway it is a fun film.
AWESOME movie! was so funny and real felt like I was watching a funny documentary! I want him to make a series out of this! Well done Mr Linklater! Great as always!
Man I love Dazed and Confused and all Richard Linklater's films I've seen so far, but this one looks so... American Pied (at least the trailer makes me think that way)
Great movie. Watched this with my dad who was a teen during the 70's, he was totally amazed how well they got the look and "feel" right. Just a fun movie all around. Kind of wished the ending wasn't so abrupt, was looking forward to a bad ass baseball game.
5 stars for this one. A hilarious portrayal of the '80's that makes you think. The soundtrack is the icing on the cake! The trailer doesn't do this movie justice. You have to see this movie for yourself.
Saw this today @ premiere on Greenway 24. Do not regret my $10 spent on this. Best part of that day, I didn't have school because of bad weather day :D; which made this film my day even better xD.
All of you haters haven't even seen the bloody film. I have enough trust in Linklater to know that it will be at least a good film. I enjoyed the trailer a lot.
Ohhhhhhh my God ... Zoey Deutch (Beverly) is very beautiful ..... She looks a lot like her Beautiful Mom Lea Thompson ..... Also called Berverly in the 1980s Classic (1986) Howard the Duck ..... I'm Brazilian.... I loved the family Thompson 😍 Super like👍👍👍
I really liked/didn't like this movie. Despite my _personal_ conundrum, it's definitely evident Richard Linklater is _still_ a fricking genius. I will definitely need to re-watch this a few times to figure it out. (My favorite kind of movie.)
For those whos still planning to watch this movie; this is what I think. The movie wasnt the most excellent, but it was fun watching it. Never got bored in any moment of the movie. This review might make the movie look weak, but do try watching the movie. You wont regret :)
Don't be fooled by the trailer or by the naysayers. I saw Dazed and Confused when it came out several times. I thought this movie wasn't going to be as good...but it is! Fantastic ensemble too!
I finally watched this and thought it was f'kn awesome -- The story was fresh and the characters all seemed genuine; Willoughby was most cool -- the guy who did the biggest bong hit.
Season 5 of Teen Wolf is boring without Derek. He needs to come back :( Also, Marvel needs to hire Tyler Hoechlin. He can play a great superhero. If Black Panther wasn't African, Tyler would be perfect for him.
Dazed and Confused was not this goofy. This is basically modern times with people dressed up in clothes that look like the late 70s-early 80s transition period. Like some cornball American Pie humor type shit. Hope this is just a case of the trailer not doing the movie justice. Because I like Linklater and I have Dazed and Confused on dvd, one of my favorite films.
+CyberSpectrumND.exe I think you nailed it. Everything about this looks like a cheap satirized version of Dazed and Confused. It doesn't feel authentic. I'm surprised this is a Linklater movie. Maybe he's finally decided to just cash in and give up.
+CyberSpectrumND.exe I think it's this idea of film writers not understanding the specific impact of their work. You see this with so many franchises: Star Wars, Die Hard, The Matrix., etc;. The initial films were great for certain reasons, and the subsequent films lack the focus of the first attempt. So sad. Even Fury Road, which was brilliant, missed a few key points that are integral to the world being portrayed.
Huw Murday It's the same movie over and over so it's the same as all the movies that keep coming out. How about a 70's movie revolving the 90% of people living during that era that weren't dope smoking losers? 60's and 70's films are really bad at portraying everyone as drug using hippies or disco goers. In truth, only a fraction of the population was like that, kind of how hipsters only represent a small part of our society today.
I'm 90% sure that person who did a back flip into the water was shot at The Blue Hole in Wimberley, Texas. I go there a lot. The waters cold, beautiful and clear.
I just saw this movie and it was great fun. Much better than the trailer. Stay for the credits at the end because all the main characters sing a great rap song then and it's great fun!
The actors are all to good looking and you can't tell them apart. The greatest thing about Dazed and Confused is how every character seemed real! But this is just a trailer so who knows!
what i loved about this movie is that nothing really happened. it was just a gang of bros having a nice three days before university started again. no cringe, no nastyness, just a true feel-good movie. 10/10

Like dazed and confused, why it’s so awesome
If you are a Dazed and Confused fan, rest assured this movie is AMAZING.
+AwesomeTyme Dazed and Confused WAS my high school days in the 70s.
The movie was good but its no dazed and confused 💯
It wasn’t nearly as good as dazed and confused but it was still a good watch
This movie is just as awesome as Dazed and Confused!!!
No it isn't. It's really disappointing. Linklater has lost his magic.
Awesome movie. It really did feel like the sequel to dazed and confused. Makes me want to ring up some friends and hang. I agree to some point, but it worn me out in the end. It was more of a style and less of a substance.
ogorjefan I actually liked it more towards the end, the beginning was a little boring for me but after 10 minutes I carried on watching.
L
@@ellieaine1496 you look like your in elementary school so of course you think this is how university is...
I think your overly pretentious just by reading your review of this garbage movie lmfao
really great film, one of those what makes you want to be there having the time of your life with the guys. I think the dude who played finn stole the show, great character.

I'm obsessed with 80s nostalgia! So, even though this takes place in 1980, which might as well still be the 70s, I'm still going to see this ASAP!
Yeah, was impressive how much they borrowed from the 1970's but put an 80's label on it. But we lived it, we know.
People start University at 30 in America I guess.
+WOb Biggin Have you seen the yearbooks from back then? Kids honestly looked like that.
"Here for a good time, not a long time."
people use to look much manly in the 70s... the crying liberal small puny androgen hipster look... was not what Men used to looked liked.
They do nowadays due to crippling debt and a poor economy.
they don't nowadays
Terrific movie. Brings back memories of my childhood. Completely puts the viewer in the summer of 1980, perfectly, from the music to the clothing, everything.

Written and Directed by Richard Linklater, I'M IN!!!! Its like Dazed and Confused's late sequel. Which is AWESOME!!!
this was one of the rare good movies we're witnessing these days.
I added this to my "Greatest Movie" list. This film pretty much accurately captures s the year 1980 College Life. It's official this is one of ny favourite movies of all time now. 👍👍😉😉
Who came here for Tyler Hoechlin?😏
+Maela Le Guillouzer Gays.
+Maela Le Guillouzer girl, yesssssssss!!! media.giphy.com/media/YAnq4KiHUDkyc/giphy.gif
lol me
Guilty 😂🙌🏻
Oops..😅
Awesome. Definitely a Dazed & Confused vibe and D&C is the greatest movie ever made.
A critic said it best when summing up this movie.
“ what everyone wants in this film isn’t just success and stardom on the field.
It’s what we all want. It’s time”
this is the 80's but it's 1980 to 81 so practically the late 70's.
+trog lodyte its about 4 years before a decade really takes on its own identity. So this movie is set before people started wearing neon and shoulder pads.
+Jaybird J (DramaRamma) those are just examples there were far more trends than just those two things.
+trog lodyte This movie will be 10x better than the overrated and

movie. The Breakfast Club was a prissy azz kissing student's version of

Glen Powell, Tyler Hoechlin and Blake Jenner all in one??? Yes!
I watched this yesterday after watching the trailer. This movie is so cool. Love all the characters. So funny!! WATCH IT!!
One of the greatest films of the past decade.
Derek ? OMG :D
+Nida Lee right! thats what i said
Teen wolf fans!🙋🏼❤️
Yess :D
omg!!
Derek
Saw it today and I'd rewatch it right now if I had it on DVD. If you loved Dazed - you'll DEFINITELY love this one, so good!
I want a sequel. Now
this is sort of a sequel to his first film. dazed and confused.
Tarantino King His second; Linklater's first was Slacker from 1991.
Just saw Dazed and Confused. Excited for this!
They should still bring out Wooderson for a cameo.
jakep1979 he could be Willoughby’s cousin or something
I've watched this at least 2 times a week now that I own it. just way too good not to pass up!
criminally underrated. this movie was fuckin sweet
Big reason I want to watch this: Tyler Hoechlin 😂
I saw the private screening of this movie last night, it was actually really funny. recommend to all when it comes out!
One of the best movies of the year IMO and would like to see it win an Oscar for the screenplay
Pretty damn good to get an 85 on metacritic.
I️ loved this movie I️ didn’t want it to end
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Would definitely recommend and be re-watching this down the track
BOYHOOD!
IT TOKE 12 YEARS TO MAKE!!
BEST MOVIE EVER!!
Shave off 25 seconds and the trailer's gold
Bruce Smith
"With Tyler hoechlin"
I HAVE TO WATCH THIS
derek left for this 😂
how could you know its a bad movie 😂😂😂
teen wolf has been pretty shit lately too, tho. It's been a ongoing task watching that show because of curiosity alone. Who knows, this movie could be a surprise.
+poot where is he? I don't see him in this trailer.
+obrien bae he's at 0:20 in the yellow tank saying "who the hell are you?" and still managing to rock the hell out of that mustache... how do you do it derek
+Cody Lerch No, no they don't.
it took 12 years to make
+estopasowner More like 22 years
it's like poetry, every stanza rymes with the last
That's right Jay!! But wait, there's more!
+estopasowner "Anyone wanna milk my cat?"
Another 20 and we have the 90s
The 70s/80s music was off the chain, spanning the genres of rock, disco, country, punk, and New Wave.
"I think those are pretty good odds."
"First Cousin?"
Just watched this movie. Definitely a solid movie. Loved it!
Finally today that capture something like Dazed and Confused, I hope more such films.
I can relate to this movie completely from the 80's. I had sideburns when I was two years old.
That's 70's Show just called....they're pissed.
wow, it was so good, that the end came so unexpectedly.
Austin , Texas is seriously the coolest place to grow up.
this is probably one of the absolute best sports movies ever made.... and it happens to be about baseball, which is a huge plus. in addition to that.... even though baseball plays a huge part... it's just an all around good party movie with surprisingly deep characters.
Main character is "Jake", but easily could have been "Mitch Kramer", freshman in high school in 76', freshman in college in 80', Pitcher in both films. Anyway it is a fun film.

+Heitor Alves American Pie is formed so as copy Dazed and Confused
i'm here for ~ Tyler Hoechlin~ !!!
Great movie. Watched this with my dad who was a teen during the 70's, he was totally amazed how well they got the look and "feel" right. Just a fun movie all around. Kind of wished the ending wasn't so abrupt, was looking forward to a bad ass baseball game.
I mean, they did mention in the movie that games weren't until Spring and that all of autumn was gonna be team practice
5 stars for this one. A hilarious portrayal of the '80's that makes you think. The soundtrack is the icing on the cake! The trailer doesn't do this movie justice. You have to see this movie for yourself.

Best part of that day, I didn't have school because of bad weather day :D; which made this film my day even better xD.
2:26 yep that was it. That bong is the way I remember it exactly :D well done! 50 year old Stoner approved.
The music score is bomb.
an excellent movie, captured the early 80s so well!
Man, class of "84 here. I really wish they set it for around mid-to-late 80', cause it looks like more of the 70nish
Omg! Cousin Miguel is that you??!😂😂
This movie needs a sequel
This looks more like 70's
well it takes place in 1980, it´s until like 84´ when you get that 80s vibe
Yeah, like how 1990-1994 was basically the extension of the 80s.
just watching it for Derek
Seriously everyone at Texas State NEEDS to see this movie when it does come out. Since it was filmed on our college campus. GO BOBCATS!
Reminds me a lot like Dazed and Confused!!! Can definitely tell it's made by same person!!! Looks cool!!!
I saw this movie and think It’s great and spot on about the time period.
All of you haters haven't even seen the bloody film. I have enough trust in Linklater to know that it will be at least a good film. I enjoyed the trailer a lot.
It's a fraternity movie. It's about camaraderie and I like it. It deserves an Emmy.
URCHIN SAM Emmys are for Tv Shows lol 😂
If you like 80's movies then i recommend you to watch this movie.
I loved the family Thompson 😍
Super like👍👍👍
Saw this at SXSW - fantastic movie!
I'm very excited for this!
The Narrator
Pretty much anything 80s always draws me in!
Don't be fooled by the trailer or by the naysayers. I saw Dazed and Confused when it came out several times. I thought this movie wasn't going to be as good...but it is! Fantastic ensemble too!
I love it how they use Van halen in this trailer. it's so great haha
Who came here because of Tyler Hoechlin?
Meeeee XD he's the best 😄😃
this movie was really enjoyable! love that 80s era stuff!
Rewatched today Anyone else feel like the end wasnt good ,just felt like it was missing something better
A FKNG MOMENT IN TIME, MAGICAL MASTERPIECE!!!!!! THIS GUY KNOWS WHATS UP, PERIOD. MY GOD! I MISS AMERICA......
Man, I would never have guessed this was a Linklater movie if I hadn't seen his name attached. Doesn't really look like it's on his level.
I'm quite shocked they did'nt say "From Richard Linklater. The Director of Boyhood"
cause you know, it took 12 years to make!
I gotta see this! This looks authentically like 1980!
I've seen so far five times, I will continue
I finally watched this and thought it was f'kn awesome -- The story was fresh and the characters all seemed genuine;
Willoughby was most cool -- the guy who did the biggest bong hit.
This looks awesome ... But how did it get reviews before getting released ?
Season 5 of Teen Wolf is boring without Derek. He needs to come back :(
Also, Marvel needs to hire Tyler Hoechlin. He can play a great superhero. If Black Panther wasn't African, Tyler would be perfect for him.
Dazed and Confused was not this goofy. This is basically modern times with people dressed up in clothes that look like the late 70s-early 80s transition period. Like some cornball American Pie humor type shit.

+CyberSpectrumND.exe I think you nailed it. Everything about this looks like a cheap satirized version of Dazed and Confused. It doesn't feel authentic. I'm surprised this is a Linklater movie. Maybe he's finally decided to just cash in and give up.
I totally agree. Dazed and Confused was pretty grounded, that's part of its charm.
The trailer to Dazed and Confused is also kinda bad. It's because the scenes are so dialogue -heavy that it's difficult to edit them out.
Dazed was awesome! But stoned age was a but kicker!
70's nostalgia movies about sex, drugs, and rock n roll are clichéd, old, and unimaginative. Next.
+Boat What would you rather watch? It's better than a lot of other crap that comes out
Huw Murday It's the same movie over and over so it's the same as all the movies that keep coming out.
This is in the eighties though.
viktor1098 Spillover from the late 70's though. Same genre.
Boat So you want a film about accountants and lawyers in the 70's going about their daily business without anything fun happening? What a great idea!
I'm 90% sure that person who did a back flip into the water was shot at The Blue Hole in Wimberley, Texas. I go there a lot. The waters cold, beautiful and clear.
Even if the movie doesn't succeed the soundtrack probably will. The movie will probably succeed.
They got alot right about that era. A few things kinda wrong. Overall pretty accurate.
I just saw this movie and it was great fun. Much better than the trailer. Stay for the credits at the end because all the main characters sing a great rap song then and it's great fun!
+David Gantt would you say it was as good as dazed and confused?
bananasare4ever I never saw Dazed and Confused
The one actor who plays Jake looks exactly like a young Matt Dillon!
That's exactly what I thought!
same director, I know. but this does not feel authentic.
i couldn't agree more.
+Atrijit Das yep, seems forced
Came here to say this.
The actors are all to good looking and you can't tell them apart. The greatest thing about Dazed and Confused is how every character seemed real! But this is just a trailer so who knows!
+Atrijit Das I don't know- Dazed and Confused didn't seem authentic either. I don't really think the director wants them too.
this actually looks good in my opinion
Such a good movie!! Honestly when I saw just had no expectations and actually had a good time watching it!! 8/10 xD
Anyone who dislliked this never either lived in or appreciated the 80's... or the 70's for that matter.
Wen I look at my dads college picture he looks just like these guys
super underrated movie
