    WOW! You really nailed it! The complete freedom and control over the pitch. Never seen on iOS. That’s unique. Custom scales and temperaments implementation only is worth buying the app. And together with expression controls GeoShred is the best MIDI controller.

    I just got GeoShred and absolutely love it! I was wondering if you guys can please add the swara font but in English as in sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa. That would be really awesome since I can’t read the Hindi, but practice using swaras

    How do I save a customized scale that I created?

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  2 роки тому

      You can copy a customized preset from one preset to another. If you look under "Menu> Model for & FX> Perform> Keyboard> Scale > [Scale name button]" at the bottom of the scale browser you will find an item called "Customized Scales". You can find all the "Customized Scales" in the system there and copy any of them into your current preset.
      I tend to create a set of template presets (Blues Scale, Custom Pentonic ... etc etc) and use those as the source for copying the custom scales

    Adding Indian Ragas is too cool. Btw, I have a query. when I change Note name font to Tamil, C becomes S, C# becomes R1... The problem is In carnatic music we don't use absolute scale. We always start from S and end with N. Our root may be C, C#, D or D# but when we set our root as, for eg. say D then D should become our new S, D# will be our new R1. What we need is the flexibility to change the root to C, C#, D, etc and Our Note should start from the root note we have set. Is there any way to set like that? Please reply. Thank you

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  6 років тому +2

      Yes in this case you would set the keyboard to always be in the key of C/S (Menu> Performance Settings> Keyboard) and use either the per preset or the global transpose to tune to a singer or other performers. Preset transpose is Menu> Model & FX> guitar> Course and Fine Tune. Global Transpose is Menu> Settings> Tuning> Course and Fine Tune.

      @@GeoShred What about other instruments? If I use SWAM instruments instead of guitar all I find is Coarse tune and Fine tune in Expert settings. But they are implemented as the same continuous slider from -12.00000000 to +12.000000000. This isn’t convenient at all. It’s hard to match on a small slider like this. Can you make separate Coarse and Fine tuning controls as you made for guitar?

    • @GeoShred

      No, GeoShed only supports temperaments for 12 tones/octave systems. Many of not most of the scala temperaments are not representable on the GeoShred 12 tone/octave keyboard.

    Thanks very much for this new tuning feature. I hope you sell a lot of units worlwide because of this. Would you do a tutorial on the new drone arpeggio feature, such as the one in the new stock pelog presets? I can't even figure out how to set up a basic tanpura arpeggio pattern in it.

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  7 років тому

      We will have an application note next week about the Sympathetic Resonator. Here are staring points. 1) Look at Preset #142 Sridhar-Chinthamani for example of a Tanpura pattern 2) Try the '?', it will bring up the topic help for the Sympathetic Resonator. 3) For a tanpura, under the "Drone" tab you will want to select the "Drone" button, and the "Pattern" button. By default the droning is statistical unless you select the "Pattern" Button" 4) Frequency will set the rate of the droning. 5) Under the "Scale" tab at the top you can see what pitch each of the 8 strings is tuned to, depending on the scale or raga that you have selected. 6) "Drone Pattern" is a repeating pattern naming which strings (by number) are excited. The Default is 1,1,1,5. Note this is not an arpeggiator. It's a bank of strings that can resonate from the input signal, and optionally/simultaneously the strings can be "plucked" with a pattern. 7) If you wish to to have the Sympathetic Resonator only operate as a tanpura and not have the guitar sound pass into the strings, you can bypass the resonator with the "Bypass" button on the "Resonator" tab. You can ask further questions at support@moforte.com

      Temperament, sometimes called intonation, represents how each musical note is tuned within an octave. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_temperament

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  6 років тому

      Western music uses "Equal Temperamant" in which the interval between all notes is the same en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal_temperament

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  6 років тому

      Carnatic music uses a temperament that is close to western "Just Intonation" which is based on whole number ratios of frequencies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_intonation

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  6 років тому

      The numbers that are entered are ET-Diffs which is the ratio of each note relative to equal temperament. The table at this link shows the ET-Diffs for Just intonation pages.mtu.edu/~suits/scales.html

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  6 років тому

      ET-diffs are used to represent temperaments. There is an extensive data base of temperaments called Scala that uses ET-Diffs to represent temperaments: www.huygens-fokker.org/scala/

      Apple's policy is that you can download an app up to 5 different devices as long as they share the same Apple ID. Is your second iOS device using the same AppleID?
      Normally the way that this works, is on the second device, you go to the App Store App, search for the version of GeoShred that you own (GeoShred Play or GeoShred Pro or GeoShred Control) and you should see a cloud icon to download it again.

    How do you create a custom scale? This is clear. But how do you name it and save it? This is not clear even though I have read your answers many times over and over again.

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  8 місяців тому

      A custom scale lives in a preset. The name of the custom scale is the name of the preset. If you want to use that custom scale in a different preset, at the bottom of the Scale Browser you will find "Custom Scales". You can simply copy one of your custom scales into a new preset with the Scale Browser. This video demonstrates how that is done:

      @@iguesssoiguessso5021 Look at the video link for the video I made for you. You can't add your custom scale to the factory ragas because the factory scales are NOT user editable.
      You will find that your new scale is available in the "Custom Scales" list and you can add it to any preset, or you can set it globally for all presets.

    The method used to denote note names using Indian system is wrong. Sa is not C always. It is just the base note. For example Sa is C in a song in C major. Sa is D in a song in D major. Basically Sa is just first note. Pa is fifth note. 5th major chord means PA Ni3 and R2 together and First minor chord always means Sa Ga2 and pa no matter whether base note is C or D or any other note.
    So in selection of root note with Indian system it shud still mention it as C D E F Etc and not Sa Re. If root is selected as E then E shud be renamed as Sa and then ratios named accordingly . Right now it's not working like that.

    • @GeoShred
      @GeoShred  2 роки тому

      See our FAQ about this. For Indian Music, you always set the Key to C and use the transpose mechanism to change the relative pitch of Sa.
