I don’t know what everyone else who follow Neal thinks , but I think he loves his job and people so much that he probably looses sleep thinking up all these gadgets he’s made . They don’t call him the wax whisper for nothing. I’m so glad you like and will use his tools , that is probably the highest form of praise to him. Thank you for showing us how they work .

Great job in supporting a colleague who has gone out of his way to create products that are much safer for the client/patient. I love how you and Neel both teach as you show your work. We love to learn and appreciate not being treated as though we don't understand what you're teaching. Some audiologist think they're way above us that they use it as an excuse not to teach. It might be they don't know too much themselves.

Neel has been thinking about and working on these for a while. Obviously, he wields them like a master. You, Conor, showed us how good they are because you did a wonderful job using the tools for the first time clearing that second ear. That ear would have been horrible to work on if you had to rely on micro suction only. 👍🏻

You’ve got the chops for manual curettage and don’t look a bit rusty even though I’m sure they feel very different to the clumsy, blocky rubbish ones! 😂 I’ve watched his removals that have really focused on the Rai curette and it’s so much better at gliding along the canal contours. Not being an expert or even a beginner as practitioner in audiology/earwax removal, it must be said that using tools by someone who uses the same tools of the trade as you do has such practical advantages.
Neel has clearly figured out which tools tend to work and which ones he felt that he could improve upon. Usage by colleagues such as yourself can only improve upon future designs of these tools, so this was very interesting and educational to highlight Neel's tried-and-true craftsmanship.
Thanks for sharing this with us on your channel and shout out to the Wax Whisperer himself, Neel!

I can easily imagine that the older tools were designed by someone who never used them. Hospitals here in the US provide something better now, but they used to provide a small, kidney-shaped, "emesis basin," that was clearly designed by someone who had never vomited or even witnessed vomiting.

The true OG of wax removal videos was (is?) Nick Chitty. His current clinic is in Ilfracombe, North Devon. He had a wax channel YEARS ago. He works a lot with tinnitus, so he tended to use manual tools a lot more than suction. It is unquestionably a skill that requires practice AND an an art that some people develop a feel for quickly, and some people always feel uncomfortable with.
I'm still trying to find an endoscope for my Android that I can purchase here in the US. When I asked an AudD friend, she recommended one of the devices meant for home use to remove the wax from your own ears. Umm... thanks. Not exactly what I'm looking for. As a pediatrician, I think manual tools are still my best bet (just trying to fit an endoscope and suction into the ear, along with the sound of the suction, is unrealistic for young children). But it would be helpful if I could get better visualization!

    • @DurhamHearingSpecialists
      @DurhamHearingSpecialists  4 місяці тому +3

Hi Kayo, yes Nick Chitty is the OG. He's still in Audiology, not sure why he's not making videos anymore, he probably got tired of it. If you ping me an email I can tell you where to get an android setup.

Thank you so much for collaborating with Mr. Neel Raithata. He showed his work and taught his audience like what he did. It's very important for the patient to understand what is going on with their health. The audience also understands what happened to the ears when it gets infected and how to prevent it from happening. The tools that you compare with what Mr. Neel R. was using, he invented the design himself. He is a wonderful audiologist. I watched another Chinese Audiologist. You, Neal, Taylor, and Rhys are some of my favourite youtubers so of course I clicked when I saw both names! If all 4 of you did a collaboration in person, that'd be immense! I've probably said before but I suffer dreadful pain and fatigue from a plethora of illnesses and I'm particularly bad at present so watching you guys is relaxing. Great video as usual-you did great :) hope you're keeping well Connor. Xx

Neil has made a great contribution to audiology that even a lay person like me can appreciate the difference and the ease with which the new tools are wielded by the practitioner.

I am a retired Heavy equipment mechanic, and I always had a few odds and ends of tools that I could make into a tool to get into some tight space. The ones that do the work know how to make a usable tool. I still use my home-made tools from time to time.

Thank you for saying that in this field a lot of people over-rely on suction. I’ve watched tons of these kinds of videos and often wondered why they keep working away so long with ineffective suction instead of jumping quickly to these other tools that work so much better.

I've been waiting patiently and looking forward to you trialling Neel's new curettage tools. I think you did very well. From the viewers' perspective the motion/movement seems more fluid. It certainly didn't look as if that was your first time using them.
I appreciated your fair review of them too.

I’m a PA-C from the states, and I’ve always hated the traditional curette for clearing away cerumen impaction. I think the curette is brilliant, because it gives enough angle that you can get leverage without hitting the wall of the canal, and it appears to still be thin enough to glide around the side of the common impaction that I deal with associated with hearing aides…. Thanks for the trial and reviews!!!!

Great new tools, appear to let you have more maneuverability in the ear and not as ruff on the patient. Should help to prevent providers hand/wrist fatigue from turning into carpal tunnel syndrome as well.

Neel has put so much thought into every aspect of design in user and patient comfort and efficiency and safety. It's important for audiologists to have reliable safe tools and regular practice in their usage. That patient who can't cope with the suction tool is just about to walk in. I watch Neel and he, like yourself, is very passionate about his work. Good on you for giving these tools an opportunity.

It's a form of art in a way, to know how to remove the wax carefully using just the correct tools. I can see you really enjoy your job. I also like to clean wax out of peoples ears, but I don't have the right tools, nor the light, the microscopic camera, or the sharpe eyes as I once used to when I was much younger. Nice video. Thanks for sharing and teaching us.
