    It is sad that your Wood-Mizer sawmill and sharpener are gone, I started watching when you all were in Georgia. The time that you had them and the time you and your wife have spent making videos teaching others about sawmilling and sharpening has been priceless for many of us. This was one of the best hours I have spent on UA-cam lately. Your explanations about what works and doesn’t work sharpening sawblades will save the rest of us so much time. I hope you didn’t take a loss selling your equipment. I hope one day you will be on here sawmilling again. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge with us. Good luck and I wish your family a very Merry Christmas.

    Charlie, Well done! I learned a bunch. Thanks You.
    I emailed you earlier in the week about buying your sharpener/setter. I have none of that now. Now I can use a sharpener and setter and am ready! Sorry to see that the mill is gone. Mine is a diesel LT50 also and I really enjoyed your videos.
    Suffolk makes a setter that straightens the teeth. And, 'Cook's makes (or made ) a band roller to straighten blades. I think the Suffolk is better than the Woodmizer since it holds the blade tighter and only bends the tip ( 0.160" or whatever you adjust it to )
    You need to put Sarah to work. She is good at understanding mechanics and has real potential !. She'd be a whiz at running the sharpener/setter.

    How do you know when you can no longer sharpen a bandsaw blade? how many millimeters (or %) can I lose to sharpening until the blade is too narrow?

    Did you always set before you sharpen?
    Or did you try sharpening then setting and decided that this works better?
    I understand that teeth can be really out of shape from damage. Just wondering if the sharpener changes the set at all?

    • @charleyandsarah
      @charleyandsarah  4 роки тому +1

      Sharpening does change the set a little, but its fairly consistent so you just set a little more than you actually need. The problem if you sharpen first, then set, is the tooth gets bent over so the sharp point is now slopped back and not as effective. I have also noticed the sharp tip can break off
