Gilbert O'Sullivan recorded this song in 1970 and he wrote it after he saw a movie about staving children in Africa. I myself, think that Nothing Rhymed is one of the greatest lyrics ever written.

All music recorded in the MUSIC FROM MY CAR sessions were recorded with a Samsung s9+ and no extra microphone. All recordings were just in one track. No autotune was used. The backingtrack was played from a Ipad. And Franklin drove around in his Citroen C1. Traffic safety first.

What a beautiful surprise. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't Franklin singing "Nothing Rhymed". I saw Gilbert on television for the first time in 1969 (?) and was struck by his Irish-small town look. Nothing Rhymed" is a powerful, underrated song and Franklin gave power to it that I couldn't imagine. Well done, sir.

Even Neil Diamond said that an eighteen should not have written that song. It was well beyond his years. You don't think like a real Irishman, so you don't get it. I was told by a teacher that I was a deep thinker when I was eleven. That should not be discouraged!

I was raised in the same town as the original artist. We used to say 'Swindon boy done good!' When this song came out, it was like poetry put to music. I still remember all the words. Nice choice.
