Skillet is awesome! After seeing "Invincible" for the very first time I was hooked. This band kicks ass in a big way. Jen Ledger (the drummer) has a great voice that complements John Cooper (Lead vocal). I'm partial to their songs when they have Jen doing some vocals. It really adds another dimension to their songs. She also has her own solo album release. Thanks for reacting to this. Hope you do more of Skillet as they have a lot of killer songs much like this.

The current band members are John Cooper Lead Singer/Bass, John's Wife Korey Cooper Rhythm Guitar/Keyboards/ Background Vocals on older stuff Comatose Album and others, Seth Morrison Lead Guitar, Jen Ledger Drummer/Background Vocals, Awake Album and newer albums, Before Seth Morrison joined it was Ben Kasica he left After Awake Album, Before Jen Ledger joined was Lori Peters she left before Awake Album
In Camatose and rebirthing Korey Cooper did vocals but in this song (and in all new stuff) Jen Ledger (drummer) do vocals.
From the sound of it when you last heard them it was probably Korey Cooper(the female guitarist/keyboardist) doing the female vocals. She is the lead singer John Cooper's wife. In this song and most songs of Skillet from 2008 on is the drummer Jen Ledger doing the female vocals. She joined the band when she was 18 and has been doing this with them for 13 years now. She is from England and left her family pretty much to play in the band and John and Korey consider her family. But Jen is my absolute favorite musician. To me she has the most beautiful voice and I feel she is like the biggest hidden gem in the music industry. But while she is amazing in Skillet she has a side band she created(with the help and support of her fellow Skillet bandmates) in 2018 called LEDGER and her music with them has had a major impact on my life and she has a song called Not Dead Yet that actually helped me decide to live and not give up on life. So I am very partial to her now lol.
Wow Robert, thank you for sharing and I understand your partiality and am so glad your here for us to converse and enjoy great music together. I'll have to check out that song for sure. Also thank you for helping me out with the band members and some of the history. It's been to long since I've listened to them, and I never really knew the band members to begin with. I'll be checking out more Skillet here for sure.
@@Guitarz4Lyf your welcome and I am glad I am still here too lol. Jen is truly something special. But I really only became a huge Skillet/LEDGER fan like late October/ early November of 2020 when my issues where at there highest. The music helped with my mindset since it is mostly positive uplifting music. I had more been a casual fan before that. But I learned a lot about them and it just makes them more enjoyable. Every single member of the band truly seems like a good person. You should definitely check out Jen's stuff with LEDGER. To me they are a band where every song is unskippable(though that could be my bias again lol). They maybe more of a lighter rock kind of popish sounding band then Skillet. They are also a lot more on the nose with religion. But they are sooo good. But if you like harder stuff John and Seth(the male guitarist and lead guitarist of Skillet) also have their own band called Fight the Fury. It is not really my style of music. But I like letting others know of them because i still want to help them get known.
Awesome song choice ... Jen is awesome and singing with Skillet really compliments John, but it's also nice to just hear her on her solo project!

@@boberhavok that is great! She seems so perfect... beautiful, beautiful voice, successful band, talented artist (have you seen her artwork!?) ... you think she's got it made must have a great life! And yet she's struggled with the same stuff, or similar to what everyone else does. She's inspirational and her music reflects her personality so well! I love her, as most Skillet fans do! I would love to see our church perform some of her music.
I have always loved upbeat pop music that you can dance to, but part of me always liked the heavier "driving" rock music like ACDC and when I first heard Hero, I was like this is awesome and it's Christian!?!! I first came across it when my ex wife would listen to nothing but the Christian music station and I was like now this is good! But a Multi pack CD with 3 albums on it including Awake and Alive. But I definitely was a fan of their newer stuff, which I later discovered was because of Jen! The combination of their 2 voices are so good!
Anyway keep rocking and never give in!

New follower ... in it for Skillet! Apec told me that you were going to do Skillet so had to check it out! It's awesome that you know their older stuff, comatose, rebirthing and whispers in the dark! There's a lot of us Skillet fans that follow them "religiously" lol. Someone already mentioned that Corey used to do background vocals, and a bit about Jen, so I won't, but Jen definitely added a new element to their music. My first introduction to Skillet was "Hero" - 100's of millions of views on UA-cam so you know it's good! This song sucked me in! I suggest starting there. This was their first big single off of "Awake and Alive" ... in which the title track is another awesome song, and another must listen! Also off this album was Monster. The whole album is great but these 3 songs got me listening to them. And these songs go back more than a decade now! Long time fans will want to hear their older stuff ... which you've already heard, but live versions are always fun to watch! Newer fans will mention Legendary, Victorious, Save me, Anchor and Invincible, but you can't forget - Not gonna die and Sick of it.

Their concerts are EPIC. Saw them in Lubbock, Tx. They absolutely blew the roof off the venue.
The songs you heard was the guitarist kori(the lead singers wife) doing the back up vocals jen they're drummer/back vocalist wasn't in the band at the time
I love John! He is such a born rocker and I am so glad as a long time fan seeing them getting the success they deserve. The whole band are great people! New album out last Friday, check it out!

From what you said you most likely listened to the album Comatose, as that album and the ones before it feature Korey as the female vocalist (guitar, keyboard). On every album after Comatose it's the drummer Jen providing the female vocals, who was actually trained by the former drummer Lori before she departed.
That aside one of the neat things about Skillet is that their songs can be interpreted in a number of ways that aren't limited to just religion, something I think a lot of bands labeled Christian Rock do these days (Nine Lashes, Skillet, Red, Demon Hunter, etc.), which I think is a good thing as it allows for a wider audience and songwriting ability without feeling alienating to all but a select few stubborn and closed-minded individuals if that makes sense.
Sorry I just found your channel, but I had to laugh at your intro, I was that parent putting in the CD for my boys to listen to on the way to school! I have always loved their positive messaging and their music. Thanks for the reaction it was great!

That´s one of my TOP 5 bands for sure, the only band that is above everybody else is Band-Maid right before Pendulum (TOTALLY different genre), but after that there are a few bands i really like and Skillet is one of them! I am not a religious person, but the songs are uplifting, great lyrics, i love the two vocals from Jen and John and it´s not totally metal, more rock instead so that´s right up my alley. Nice you are reacting to them as well!
Michael, I'll definitely be checking out more from them. I'm SUPER excited now because we have another GREAT Rock band to check out here on the channel. I love their dynamics, and am excited to hear more.
