I have 3 Japanese fender guitars and they are all so amazing and perfect in every way. I don't really remember what the stock setups were like all of them as I've setup them to my preference. But fit finish and sound on all of them is amazing. MIJ traditional 60's JM, Fender JB-62 Jazzbass, and a JV Modified 50's telecaster.
I feel the same way about my 20 plus year old MIM Tele: a great Fender Tele is a great Fender Tele no natter where in was made. I'd love to see the blue one... 🙂
Funny you should ask! My Dad managed a store in the 60s, and picked up some early Japanese gear- guitars, drums, and Sony transistor radios. Only the radios were any good. Even Harmony outperformed early Kents, etc. Of course, Harmony was gone by 1975, and by then the best Japanese imports were competitive with US brands.
My 86 Squier bullet 1 is amazing. Having said that, it is still plywood and the neck was not set right. I fixed it all. All fender part's so it's Def quality. I can't imagine finding a better example.
All of the 80's fenders and squires are incredible! I'm looking to get my own squire strat mij. They've got one in my local shop and when I played it I didn't wanna put it down!
I have a MIJ FotoFlame Nashville Telecaster from the mid 90s and it's my second favorite guitar. I have actually owned two of them over the years and they were both exactly the same. High quality. I will say that the pickups were swapped on both but that's more of a preference thing. Yours looks quite similar and it sounds and looks great, man!
I saw this guitar online and fell in love but got abit down since you could only buy it in Japan but just looked today and saw it online for sale in uk stores
Landon your review and your playing just get better and better. I just made my first direct-from-Japan purchases via Reverb. Bought a new MIJ Junior Collection Strat (24" scale length). It arrived in a week even with free shipping. I dug it so much I bought the matching Tele which I like even more. They were both under $900 shipped each. I'm a 60 year pro player with mild arthritis and the short scale (and looser strings) really helps a brother out. Having said all that, this guitar in your demo is generating some serious gear lust! That thing is spectacular AND light weight - really hard to find in a Tele.
I recently went to a guitar store and checked the fret ends on 10 Fender, from Squiers, all the way to US. The Japanese Fender Aerodyne had the BEST fret ends by far, like reaaally far
That is such a good looking guitar. My goodness. And that price. WOW! I have a 2007 Aerodyne Strat. It is absolutely fantastic! The Japanese Fenders a my favorites.

Dude I almost bought this exact guitar this week, but I ended up going with another Japanese tele made by FGN, which is the in house brand of Fujigen (previous maker of Japanese Fender guitars). I got the J-Standard Iliad in the see-through blue burst, check it out if you have a chance (the blue is only available on the Japanese FGN site, not their English export website). Comes stock with Seymour Duncan pickups and an ash body, and my model weighs in at a whopping 6.8 lbs (3.1kg). :)
Thanks Landon, great showcase video. How long did it take to ship to Ottawa from Japan? I just bought the Aquamarine Stratocaster from Kinko. My first guitar

Japan and Fender have a special relationship. In Japan fender allows the factory to make Japanese only fender guitars that aren’t supposed to be available in the West. Those guitars are supposed to be on par with the USA ones but for the Japanese market only. That way Japanese customers get the same quality, but made in Japan so they don’t have to ship USA ones over. Japanese customers save money and get great mij guitars and fender saves money shipping, taxes and customs. That’s probably why the store doesn’t have a reverb store anymore. If you can get your hands on a high end Japan only fender your going to get a on par with USA guitar and usually in crazy flashy and crazy finishes you won’t see here.
Landon, the Japan-made Tele's body looks like a small kid's guitar when held against you. What's your height and weight? Maybe it's the patten of the red paint that makes the Tele body look smaller than it really is.

@@landonbaileySweet! I was able to order from Fender Japan, I just had to use PayPal. Awesome! Can't wait, I got the Strat model of the one you got, same top and color.

Not sure if you knew that.
I'm guessing its basically an oldskool squier, but with a fender logo. I have a Japanese 1994 HSS squier strat that I've had since 1994 and it's a cool guitar, although the poly finish is quite thick. I need to refret it as some of the frets are quite badly worn from my younger years (I have some stainless steel fret wire to refret it with). Other than the frets, it still works great. I was a bit confused by the price; the website showed 150.700, you started saying 137, then showed 161.000. To me it's not clear what the guitar costs and what the shipping price was. They have very attractive models, but you pay generally about 10% extra for the shipping. And are Japanese prices VAT included? And what's the VAT in Canada? I have no Chrome browser anymore, so I can't get the Japanese site translated.

Recently went to a store to check for Jazz bass. Performer and Professional II are staight up bad compared to the ESP I got. I can't believe it. Nut wasn't slotted properly, gaps on neck-body joint, tooling marks on fretboard, shoddy finish, subpar hardware. It was eye-opening. I used to be all about "made in USA". Not anymore. It's honestly like I was comparing to Squier. Not to say US Fender are trash, but only overpriced.
If they would enforce falling on the sword here in the US as a deterrent against failure, we would probably have guitars almost as good as those made in Japan.
Nice one! The best Japanese guitar performance is Akira Takasaki doing "Tusk of Jaguar/Exploder/Heavenward" from the Loudness album, "LIVE/LOUD/ALIVE LOUDNESS IN TOKYO." Thank you.
I love my two Fenders but, besides their mediocre Paranormal stuff, the following seems to be their MO: Wash, rinse, add a couple of non-revolutionary features, and repeat. The same goes for Gibson. How many times are they going to claim their latest model has pickups that "are scientifically engineered to recreate the classic PAF tone"? They have literally made the "most accurate" pickup claim 2-3 times using different types of Alnico magnets. I think their auto tuner debacle gave them PTSD and stunted their creativity.

Scarlett colour is ok too, Bro.
Beautiful guitar, excellent video presentation.
Pretty
Great guitar
When you tire of it, give me a shout. I’m right across the border from you.
If they would enforce falling on the sword here in the US as a deterrent against failure, we would probably have guitars almost as good as those made in Japan.
Did the socks come with the guitar ? Kind of like case (or cover candy)
🎸👍😀
Do you have a link for the tone socks, I think I need them.
Yet another Japanese beauty. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the price. For a Fender, especially of that quality, that’s a bargain. Very nice!
There are absolutely no bad videos posted on your channel, damn.
I can send you a bunch! 😂
I stopped watching another video when I saw this posted. That’s how much I love Brandon Lailey!
Roll-out the Baryl …
Great top & belly-cut.
$1000 plus for a poly tele?
what's wrong with poly?
You do realise you aren’t getting nitro nowadays unless you spend $2000+
Nice one! The best Japanese guitar performance is Akira Takasaki doing "Tusk of Jaguar/Exploder/Heavenward" from the Loudness album, "LIVE/LOUD/ALIVE LOUDNESS IN TOKYO." Thank you.
I can't believe you paid 160,000 squiggly lines for that!
I can't believe it's not butter!
@@landonbailey I think it might BE butter! Only Paula Dean knows for sure... Nice guitar man! 🤘😎
The Japanese Tokai’s (not the fakes) are better in build quality and playability imo. I own seven different models.
Beryl is pronounced “burl”. Beryl is a description of wood grain pattern.
then it should be spelled burl
For the playing at 7:15 guitar is out of tune or intonnation is horribly off.
probably the truss rod! 😱
Lol..wow..so wait..u traveled from Japan back to Canada..with a cheap, liner bin guitar cover case???????
I'm waiting
So, you bought all of the Teles available in North America so now you had to go to Japan to get one? (LOL)
Orange barrel is rare too these days,,,😂
Check out Gruene Guitars out of San Antonio, TX....excellent....
Now if only Gibson would start manufacturing in japan again
Damn...Canadians get fkd on import tax...sorry to hear dude :(
Japanese wood working skills are the best in the world, why wouldn’t they be able to build something as simple as a guitar?
I love my two Fenders but, besides their mediocre Paranormal stuff, the following seems to be their MO: Wash, rinse, add a couple of non-revolutionary features, and repeat. The same goes for Gibson. How many times are they going to claim their latest model has pickups that "are scientifically engineered to recreate the classic PAF tone"? They have literally made the "most accurate" pickup claim 2-3 times using different types of Alnico magnets. I think their auto tuner debacle gave them PTSD and stunted their creativity.
