The old ax accessory was a direct translation of the very first appearance of Carnage way back in Amazing Spider-Man 361. Which is one of the reasons that to me, while the new figure is cool, it doesn't do a great job of representing Carnage for a comics display at all. Teeth are wrong, tendrils are wrong and the symbiote never had raised segments in the original version of the character, it was more like an ever-shifting oil and water look.
@@coolmuzt yeah, they messed up the teeth back then. I'm surprised they decided to copy that one, knowing it was a mistake. Personally, I think it was the wrong choice, and I think the current figure suffers for it. Not that it's a big deal, I decided not to get this figure anyway 😄
the lighter color definitely comes across on camera. If I had to choose one of the Legends Carnage figures it would be 3-5 of the Absolute Carnage drones to go with my Knull. There's also the rumor of a Carnage/Venom 2-pack coming this year
I was going to say the same thing, why does he have white teeth? I don't like it. The Carnage/Black Suit Spider-Man 2-pack that came out a little bit ago is better, and I already have it. So this one's a hard pass for me.
I'm a real sicko I guess. I have the re-release of the first Carnage. I keep him in my Maximum Carnage display (with Shriek and Demogoblin) given that one has a VERY Mark Bagley look to him. The Carnage the Retro is reused from I have as well. I put on the Absolute Carnage head mold on him (but use the Bagley's accessory) and paired him fighting a Spider-Man (Miles). Then there's a Retro Carnage body with the Carnage head from the prior wave (I love Bagley's version) in my main ML Spidey display (near an ML Doc Ock for that Activision Spider-Man video game homage fun). However, I will use the Retro Carnage head and optional claws for a FOURTH Carnage figure. Because there is one variant not listed that you can do-- SPIDER CARNAGE. Putting the hand claws and Retro Carnage head on a Ben Reilly Spider-Man (from just a few years back). Bam. A new Spider-Carnage mold where I don't have to pay an insane price for.
the pre order sold out on target but zavvi has him for $31 but with shipping he comes out to $40... i really dont want to spend that much for a figure that i will most likely find on shelf so i think im gonna wait. i really only want this figure for the weapon hands but i also want to keep him mint on card
Intially I was going t let this go with no issue because I have the Absolute Carnage, which is awesome, but now that they are giving us a go at a Venom on the the retrocard.... suddenly I regret not getting this when I could have. Aside Blackcat I have all the relevant retrocarded figures. Hasbro are the reason I felt comfortable passing because my collection was always going to feel incomplete because some of the characters are locked behind the windowless VHS packaging.
@@jodanger37 Yes, yes it is okay to take 20 seconds to alter a trivial bit of plastic when you don't like their obviously intentional design choice but you still like the figure overall. Lol. It wasn't left white and mass produced as such by accident. Your sense of entitlement is wild.
The Venom and Carnage retro cards make no sense to me. They are supposed to represent the characters from the AS. But the figures are just random designs. They should have made the retro carnage a repack of the VHS figure design, and then Venom should have came packed with the previous retro card's head at least. Hasbro makes zero sense on what they are doing with these.
@@woody1856 your good mate, I’m just being a sarcastic Brit lol …what weapons did you want me to swap? These ones are the better fully sculpted versions, swaps would be a downgrade I believe 🙏🏻
I really wished Carnage wasn't created because he never stops killing everyone but I personally do think that this Carnage figure looks cool especially with that scary ass ax, A Kletus Cassidy head sculpt would have been nice, Great review Dan.
I have the absolute carnage so i think i'll pass on this one. The 2 figures are too similar. Like the basolute carnage with the head without the spiral looks the same as the kletus carnage.
Ok, I'm sorry but my biggest problem when it comes to Marvel legends is that they're focused too much on the comic book versions of these characters as opposed to focusing on the animated series, which for some reason they constantly want to stop sell shading these figures, but they don't make them. Look like the animated series counter parts that's what they should be based off of not the comic books. They should be based off the animated series, how they looked in the 90s animated series, not the comics, the same thing can be said for the x men, Iron Man fantastic for and any other Marvel legends figures that come out stop focusing on the comic books, especially for those who prefer the animated series designs you only want to come out good like this would have been married. Jane and Peter Parker, everybody else looks like a freaking big-headed superhero. They were like a freaking teenager. Stop with the comic book designs. Not everybody read the comic books and everybody cares about the comic books. I 41 care about the anime that series not the comics
I like the oldest Carnage best. White teeth on newest one look odd.

I’m gonna keep this one mint on card with the retro packaging. I have a few loose displayed so nice to have him moc
Just pointing this out, but i don't think this figure is comic or show inspired, i believe it's actually toy inspired
Yeah, the white teeth were in the old '90s figure.

I have that figure, but his left foot was stiff, tried to loosen it with a hairdryer and hot water, it didn't work and the foot snapped off. 😢

I have the monster venom carnage going into my animated Spider-Man display while the new Target version is going to go into my Symbiot display
Looks decent. Might pick him up, IF I see him.
Not big on symbiotes, tho.
You won't see him on shelv6.

Bloody fantastic.
Thanks for the review.
You forgot the venom from the knull 2 pack which was on the great movie venom body
I didn’t forget it, just think it’s a little exaggerated to pair with this carnage that’s all but each to there own for sure 🙏🏻
@@DanWhoReviews I hope that the new venom coming out moves as well as the movie venom 🤞
I think it’s the worst of any we’ve gotten. That head sculpt with the white teeth looks awful, especially for a 90s carnage
