😭🤣 the door looked normal at first until he gave the disclaimer about how it looked. Then when he showed it I died!!! Excellent work sir
Very thorough! Great job speaking about your dog & pointing out the reason for the tear. Most people would feel it is poorly designed & write it off as a waste of money w/out considering the product is designed to keep flys 🪰 from invading in your home 🤭 Thank you, very helpful!
Great no nonsense review, thanks for that.
I bought one of these in summer of 2020 and have used it ever since. My dog loves being in his garden but likes to periodically pop his head in to check where i am bless his little heart. Because of that, I keep the garden door open which also means open invitation to just about every insect you can find here in Scotland.
Mine has held up really well, no tears, no fraying and most important of all, no insects at all. I really love this product. I nearly didn't buy it in part due to how cheap it was and also the negative reviews left on various sites. I'm glad i did because flies are gross, I'm free of mosquitos and best of all, moths can't get in. I'm petrified of those things, they give me the heebie jeebies.
Thanks for the reply with your experience. We mainly got ours for the flies and it works really well for that until the tears become too gigantic.
Well living in Scotland with all the wool clothing would rightfully cause anyone to be afraid of moths😅
Good work, I always seek out videos like this that give honest no BS reviews! Keep doing your thing!
I bought one of these screens and came her to see a demonstration of how to hang it. I really appreciate your thoroughness and your detailed descriptions for each issue you had with the screen door. I'm going to go install mine now. Thanks!
Saw your previous vid from a year ago. Think I’m gonna buy one. Thanks! 👍🏻
Lol, you still haven't got it even after a year?
Have used this screen for over 5 years, great for apartment living. My dog goes put all the time to the porch with no problems. Does wear over a year at bottom from him going and coming in.
In other words. No it does not last. But only when direct sunlight, pets and kids are involved. Also this is designed to keep flying insects out. Not crawling. Hope this helps someone.
It does work and it lasts for people without dogs who have terror issues and young children that join in dog damage. SO IT WORKS AND LASTS. My door is under a deck (little to no sun), my dog doesn't have issues that cause her to tear up anything but a paw stuck occasionally in my hair when she wakes me up with a smack lol, and I do not have young children nor visitors with toddlers that can be out of view (one large room without obstructions).
@@aliciadishman If its working for you awesome, you are one of the lucky few.
@@randomtube8226 these screens work fine as long you’re not stupid about it. They never promised it would work perfectly in every application.
@@RyanGr33n Id pay 100 bucks for one rated for every application.
I do have one question. In middle section, is there any gaps?
i watched your install video and replacement video, i will be purchasing this in the morning. thank you.
Excellent presentation, thank you. I stayed at a friend's house in Florida and they use these screen doors on their screened lanai. Their small dog tore a hole in the panel and my larger dog finished it off. It's fun to see that you had a similar reason for the tear in your screen. I bought two of these so that I'll have one as a back up. At the price of these screens, it's much more economical than installing a screen door and I appreciated your directions on installing the screens.
Thank you
Chris for taking your obviously busy time with the new family size! I saw this on Amazon and decided to see if I could gather any more info on UA-cam and there you were showing how to install it! But what's more, was your follow-up! It wasn't until the very end when you showed the bottom gap that may have made it a deal-breaker. I know there's a mouse out back the cats are doing their best to get rid of. I would hate for that little bugger to get in! But thanks to you I can make a thorough decision on whether to buy or not!
I did not want ANY bottom gap, so I ordered the next size up. This is my 2nd screen and found it easier to shorten from the bottom. I think the added weight at the bottom improved the performance. This time I bought Sentry brand. It has installation videos and offers an upgrade for a Lifetime Warranty.
Did you measure the frame of the door or the actual door size?
I bought one and watched your installation video. I watched this one on impulse and am glad I did!
We're watching my father in law's dog who has a similar scratching issue.
I'm going to wait until the pooch is back home before installing the screen.
So your videos are not only helpful, you just may have saved the life of my door. Thanks!
Put a line of cinnamon across the bottom. This will keep out most bugs. It works great on ants.
I'm SO glad you mentioned the gap at the bottom -- that tells me I actually want a framed screen door, rather than a magnetic hanging screen for our sliding glass door. Bugs are a thing! THANK YOU for your review. Another concern is I was/am hoping for a product NOT made in China, and I discovered this Flux Phenom magnetic screen door is indeed made in China. Best to you, Chris!
Have an entry door that opens in and a security screen door that opens out. Installation is tricky but doable. Had to install the mag screen to the frame BETWEEN the doors. The hard part was finding just the right spot so both doors all the way AND the knobs don't tear the screen. FUN STUFF!!!
Hoo boy. That's exactly the scenario I'm researching. Mostly I'm looking for a stopgap measure until I can figure out the right screen door.
Dogs and kids......what's a man to do? 🤣 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the explanation and the update. Really appreciate your effort.
Very helpful; however, I ran into a situation that I have not seen addressed. Make sure when fastening the side margins in place that they are are not stretched so tight that the magnets don't close up properly.
Thank you and I watched the install one. Great help!
I got one today to use to let cool air in while keeping bugs out, this looks perfect for that after watching your 2 vids, thank you!
Great video and very very helpful. Thank you for your honesty
Thanks for this video too!!! Your furbaby is still ADORABLE!!! 🐾💗🐾
Thank you! I was trying to figure out best way to install as well as the bottom gap area. Someone said nails bc I have a wood frame. But you using those tacks is a much better idea.
im going to install my first one. came across your video. I actually watched your installation and follow up video. I'm glad you showed everything with explanation. Great job .
-Is this a good product?
-Well, it's better than nothin.
-Ok, sold.
Keeps the flies out so I am happy with it.
Thank you, this helped so much especially about the anxious dog.
Saw the first review vid and didn't expect the big hole lol
Lol. I just put one up. They're pretty handy and if it last a couple of summers I'll be happy. I have a few cats though and I'm hoping they learn to go through it instead of climbing it.
Thank you so much. I was happy to see your comment about the gap at the bottom. I was worried about it. Although like you say, a gap is better than no door or a door that doesn't close all the way. Problem solved.
Thank you for the follow up video, it was easy to find on the original video. Great review!
Eeewks... I have two of those little anxious dogs...lol....still going to buy this. Excellent video.
We had a dog go through metal screening, so no surprise he went through this. Just trying to add ventilation because covid, so this seems great.
Hiya Chris, My wife and I are smokers ( we tried quitting) and I have C.P., our friend from Portland, Maine who has C.P. but I also a red head. Anyways we went to Walmart today and bought this and now I know how to do this so thank you Chris 🤓
I have one of these. It's pretty good but it doesn't hold up well in hot direct sun light. The screen starts peeling off its adhesive strips. In the spring, fall, and winter it probably adheres pretty well, but in the heat of summer - not so much.
Great videography and editing. Well done. Dog is cute.
Answered all my questions, thank you
Thanks for the follow up
Saw them last week. On my way to pick one up now.
Thank you for your honesty! Just bought one!
Nice! Thanks for commenting!
Nice! You should update this video to show NO GAPS. How? There seems to be about an inch at the top. Move the screen down 1/2 inch, and wallah, no gap at the bottom. 👍🏼 Doors are different sizes so folks should measure their entire door frame.
iva just replaced mine after 4 years. dogs took a little while to get used to it and i just ordered another.
I just uploaded the video "Fix Magnet Screen Door Problem! UV Rays Destroying Material!"
This screen is great Thankyou for the recommendation 😊
Thanks for the review. Gonna get 3 for all my exterior doors.
Love a follow-up! Thank you 😊
Thanks for the Review!!!
just installed mine, it is what it is. was too lazy to put a proper screen door. strong breeze right now opening screen
Real life Ron Swanson. Love your content.
I appreciate it!
Both videos are very helpful! I’m so glad I found your page first. 👊🏻Now I know exactly how to install this. Thank you very much 🙏🏻
Thank you for the vid and the update.
For us in central TX, the magnetics cannot stay close against the strong wind that we constantly have. Have to take if off immediately and return it.
This was a helpful comment. Strong winds with even stronger gusts wreak havoc already. They have damaged my current screen door.
There’s actually another similar one with a doggy door 🚪 😀
I've watched both videos...🤣🤣🤣 Was not expecting the facial hair or the huge hole. You look good with a bearded but the whole made my day bc while your trying to prepare us for it, I underestimated your dog and kids but with 4 kids of my own I understand! It made me laugh though. THANK YOU
Thanks for your videos, I just got mine today and needed a little extra guidance. The screen overlaps the bottom of my door by about an inch, so I have no gap. Which is great, I mainly got the screen for my cat, so she could feel the breeze and see outside. It’s perfect!
This is one lucky cat
👍
Just like I used to do...blame the dog 🤪
1k👍
Im ready to order it!
Thanks
This was great 😂. Love that dog and the twins 😊
Thanks for the videos! Beard looks great, by the way. 🙂
Thanks for this, great work sir
as soon as i saw the screen I was like wtf lol
Thanks dude- appreciate the honest review
Awesome tutorial ! 🤣
thanks i bought one today and so far so good
Very cute thanks for both videos 🙏
Perfect about to install one 🎉
Does it work for mice? When leave the door open. Thanks
thanks for the follow video.
Thanks for this!
My only question is what did you do during the Winter? Do you live in a snowy area?
Very honest review, thank you.
Your installation video confused me. The video on the site shows the velcro part on the outside, and the tape on the smooth side, but yours says the velcro attaches to the velcro on the screen trim. I don't want to peel the tape cover off to figure this out. I wish someone would make a video that shows which side gets the tape and with side is outside the house, with a closeup of the screen laying on the floor and a verbal explanation of what would be seen. If you can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
😂😂😂 that was great explanation
I think I’ll be purchasing this thanks for the vid 👍
Awesome, detailed video...2 thumbs-up,
Gr8wrk.
When installing the Velcro (hook and loop tape) is it better to put the loop (fuzzy) or hook (sharp) against the screen. So if I take the screen down during the winter one side of the Velcro will stay on the door frame battling the winter elements.
ours got tattered to bits. might work for others but it was a piece of junk for us.
Real thanks. Can this be used as something to walk through without having to open it with your hands, As I run in and out my screen door all the time my screen door has fallen off because of it. Thank you!
Yes you can just walk through it and your body will force the magnets open. I find it easier to kinda walk sideways through the center if I‘m not using my hands.
Thank u😀
So, do you recommend having the twins & get rid of dog or vice versa ?
very very very useful video bro!!!!thank you soooo much!!!!😘
thanks for this video!! do you think adding magnets to the bottom would solve that issue? if the frame and the curtain bottom both had magnets..
I have a textured door jam and my screen keeps coming off…an solutions to this problem?
HELP! Mine came with velcro..what do I do w it? Never had one of these.
2:46 …nope…helpful video for sure…I’ll try these screen out…but any gap big enough for an unwanted roach…
I hear you on that. Our main issue was flies. It has been very helpful. We just try to stay pretty consistent on spraying bug spray along the bottom on the inside and outside of the house to help with any thing that crawls.
@@ChrisMcDowellDIY yes flies… Dealing with them now🤦🏻♂️ Any screen is better than no screen at all.
Got one today for $5 at big lots
Does it allow for wind to flow through
Just installed my 2nd one as well. First one lasted about a year. Got a small hole from the dog and it just kept getting bigger. First one I installed with nail tacks and it held up fine. The 2nd one I’m trying to go with Velcro only. Will be easier to replace next year. Problem I’m having is hemming the sides with Velcro only. I’ve got 4 binder clips on one side but may need a few more. It’s also off centered so I don’t have to hem both sides.
Good job brother I like the video I think I'm going to get one from Amazon Amazon
hmm... yeah, with dogs....... i do have two dogs and both know to scratch the door when they want to get in... will have to re-train them to bark instead, which they are pretty good at :-D
i've actually been thinking about looking into this product to replace a screen door on a slider i have, the screen door is a pain in the neck sliding open and closing going from the camp to the deck, especially when ya got your hands full from grilling food. so if anyone has thoughts it be great to read em. Thanks Chris.
I grilled a few times while I had the magnetic screen door up. I would just leave the back door open so that all I had to do was walk through the screen without having to worry about trying to turn the knob on the door while holding the food. Only issue I had was that there is not a whole lot of clearance the closer you get towards the top of the magnetic screen door since the flaps come together at the top. So it became an issue trying to keep the screen from touching the food or knocking off a spatula or tongs sticking off the side of a plate or pan as I was going through. Guess you could go through backwards or sideways, using your elbow to get the screen parted. Thanks for watching Denis!
@@ChrisMcDowellDIY I was thinking the same thing about getting in and out with my tray of grilled love!
Do you get high winds and snow and blizzards? Did It hold up in that kind of weather?
2:22 tiny dog howl, or demon battle cry?
In 40 years you are going to look like Santa Claus 🎅
Haha
Why you doing screen doors? Your fans want guitar videos! 😁
I’m making those too, haha! In fact the latest one just went up last night. Also today I’m working on the x-brace for the top of the guitar.
👍
Any recommendations for a tear? Duct tape and regular tape do not adhere.
MelodiousMelody7399, the screen cost 22.00 at Amazon. If you're going to repair yours you better be careful not to spend more than it's worth to replace it!
@@reasoningtruth Actually I used gorilla tape and so far it’s holding versus duct tape or any other tape 🤗
Doggy door version! Nice!
I have a metal door frame. I figure I won't be able to use the tacks. Is the velcro sufficient for my metal frame?
It‘s supposed to be. That‘s why the velcro comes with it - for metal framed doors. I just use it anyway on mine to help hold it in place until I can tack it.

Does the pack say UV resistant?
