Best Budget Scope? 6-24X50mm Under $40

  • This is an in field review of the Twod Tactical Rifle Scope 6-24X50mm which is illuminated red/green. This optic comes with rings and everything you need to get started on a 1913 picatinny rail. This gun scope also comes with a scope shade and lens covers. It withstood the shock of my SCAR 17S (308), but is probably ideal for 556 as shown on my Daniel Defense DDM4V5 and small calibers such as 22LR or even an air gun. If you want to shoot long range and you're a beginner on a budget, you should consider this scope.

    It looks like to me that there are several brand names that are being put on Feittachi scopes out of Japan… and I’ve had two or three of them and for the price they’re incredible. The high magnification you may see a little bit of distortion. As long as you don’t expect it to be a Zeiss,It works quite well considering you don’t have to leave at $500 for it

    I bought the same scope and it was 35 bucks on amazon and it still is. The optics are clear but super long. The ring for distance had come loose as soon as I turned it. It looks like they glued it on after the threads stripped. I zoomed in up to 24x and it is way too much. There is a 3x12x56 that is shorter and no adjustment ring to come loose. Although I didn't like the optic, I did like their customer service at TWOD and they made good on it with a free shooters bag and refunded my funds without having to return broken optic that can be fixed.

    I should do a comparison video 😂 "$40 vs $1,800 scope"
    But the thing is we've all had a time in our lives when we were just dipping our toes in shooting and didn't have much to spend on a scope. Back When I first started shooting i was using a $18 scope on my 22 and grew from there. So for people who just want a good scope on the cheap to practice with it definitely fulfills that need. • @MrTjmk

    I always get a kick out of the "Scope-Snobs" that troll this type of video review. Don't get me wrong; if I could afford a high dollar scope I'd probably get one too but, I've been using budget scopes for longer than I can remember. The few times that I'd succumb to the peer pressure to buy a scope that cost as much or more than the rifle I was shooting I was sorely disappointed. Those three or four higher dollar name brand scopes failed over time and the cheap budget scopes I bought years ago are still working fine; they still hold zero and a couple of those cheapies have been on several different rifles from 308s to 6.5s to 223s to 303s.
    The higher dollar scopes that were supposed to last, didn't last and the cheaper ebay scopes that were said to be junk are still going strong. In your face, "Scope-Snobs."
    It wasn't that long ago that a scope like the one in this review was at the high end of the scope spectrum. Modern manufacturing techniques have now made it possible to sell an under fifty dollar scope with the quality that the high end scopes of yesteryear. If you can afford the high end stuff then, get the high end stuff; good for you. If I bit the bullet and capitulated to peer pressure again I'm sure I could scrounge up the funds to do so but, why the heck would I do that? Even thousand dollar-plus scopes can and have failed. For a thousand dollars I could buy over twenty of the type of scopes in this video.
    Even giving the "Scope-Snobs" the benefit of the doubt and saying that those scopes would fail, one of the things that my cheap scopes came with was a limited life time warranty. If one goes bad, send it back while you attach another one. If the second one goes bad, send it back and attach one of the other of the 20 plus you I initially bought. I know that it's a numbers game. A certain percentage of all the scopes any manufacture makes will go bad regardless of their price point.

      I couldn't agree more. I'll be rebarreling one of my Tikka rifles next week and I'll also be transferring one of my cheap off-brand scopes onto it. The marketing directors of the various high end scopes are to be commended. They've done a fantastic job of steering people away from the less expensive scopes and getting them to shell out ridiculous amounts of money for the scopes they represent.
      @@justlooking8820

    • @MrTjmk
      @MrTjmk 5 років тому +6

      I agree. Many times I've gotten the impression that those who look down their noses at guys like me who do just fine with less expensive scopes, are essentially using their scopes as a crutch to compensate for deficiencies in their shooting technique.
      Similarly, I've seen guys go out and buy an ultra expensive rifle with MOA or better guarantee but it does them no good because their marksmanship is still at a level that renders an ultra accurate and expensive setup basically no better than a budget rifle.
      That's not to say that expensive scopes and expensive rifles aren't worth buying. They definitely are, but if you can make the same shots with less expensive gear, is it really our place to belittle someone else's preferences?

    I have one of these on my .243 I use for deer hunting. The only real issues I have with it, is that anything past like 18x gets kinda wonky if the lighting isn't just perfect; like too much or too little will white out or black out. And its pretty busy inside (the reticle) and the hold over lines dont change with magnification so like for instance on 6x @100 the space between zero and the next like down is several feet and zoomed into 24x it's just inches... So unless you practice with it at a fixed zoom, its kinda useless

    I've owned one of these scopes and shooting them at 50 yards - of course, it's going to seem accurate. It's when you step further away from 100 yards that you start running into issues.
    Issues I had:
    1. Sight picture was awful. I mean - it became strenous to keep my eyeball on the sweet spot where I could see downrange.
    2. Scope rings which came with it were awful.
    3. Accuracy drops significantly at 200 yards.
    4. Shooting with anything over 5.56 throws the scope off.
    5. The scope is a bit dark - which is weird considering it's 50mm and the glass isn't that great since it has considerable chromatic abberations, and the edges get fuzzy.
    6. Shooting at anything over 400 yards - hopes and prayers you can see the target clearly much less land a shot anything less than 3 MOA.
    You don't have to be rich to get a great scope on Amazon, but you're getting what you pay for with this one.
    If you want to hurl lead from your pappy's .22 at the 50 yard range, it's ok for that.

  • @matthewhunter6421
    @matthewhunter6421 5 років тому +1

    I've had cheaper scopes before and they served their purpose, in the sanitized type of conditions you are shooting in. Where good and more expensive scopes shine is clarity and light beyond 100 yards, reticles that don't move after use, bumping etc, and most importantly, and the one thing these reviews never seem to cover is tracking. Ca you do follow a follow up long term on one of these, and especially cover how accurately and consistently they track and hold zero, etc? At this point, the only "budget" scope (under $300) that I'd trust is SWFA. They make great fixed power budget scopes. I know people complain that somehow 200-300 on a scope is too much, but then again, you're spending a good deal more for the rifles, so you can probably suck it up and get a decent scope also

      @@werunguns I'll admit, it appears to be a good scope, especially for the price............lower than some I've purchased that turned out to be total junk.
      They are a bit more expensive but, you should review some of the new Leapers/UTG scopes being offered. I currently have a Leapers 4-16x44 illuminated compact scope on my AR. It cost me $139 but, worth every penny in my opinion. It's capable of producing 36 colors on the reticle (90% of which I'll never use but, it's nice to have that option) and the focus is controlled by a knob on the left side rather than having to rotate the objective lens barrel. Also, the turrets are large and have locking rings rather than covers. The dials can also be reset to zero after final adjustments are made. So far, I've gone through over 1.500 rounds and haven't had to re-zero the scope.

    The rubber eye piece says 'low power', like rimfire.. .17 cal. If the scope to eye is less than 3.7", she is an eye cutter.. plus the 1" tube leaves not much room for the etching for the reticle.. and bud.. that scope is looking for your eyebrow .. like all the time. Put that on a .22LR.. and you did not work the vertical turret back and forth to see if it re-zeros. When the groups start to spread.. that can be when the glue starts to go.. and it can take several tens of rounds to get the glue to really go and then it is out of focus forever or the reticle adjustment busts and stays at one point.. forever..
    I did note that there where no addible clicks and it looked like you could have used vise grips to turn the turret.. reminds me of the cheepy I have that now is locked at 4 power.. [stored it to long?]..

    After 30+ years of buying cheap scopes, I've come to a conclusion. Don't spend less on a scope than 75% the cost of your rifle. If you have a $300 rifle, put a $200-$225 scope on it. If you have a $1000 rifle, put a $750 scope on it. I'm still a cheap bastige... but I've learned the hard way that a $50 scope WILL come apart, stop tracking, or a lens will fall out when you most need it on your $1200 rifle. I've learned to budget for that "75% the cost of the rifle" scope when I buy the rifle. I've been too poor to put that kind of money into a scope, so I respect this kind of review a lot... but, learn from my drawer full of "scope corpses" and do what you can to put good glass on a good rifle!
