1. YES, we realized and knew that Stardew Valley is made by one person, the amazing Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone! We accidentally misspoke by saying 'developers' through habit, sorry we're not perfect!
2. After some further reading & comments about Super Zoo Story, we are aware that it's possible that the makers of the game have faced controversy due to being similar to Stardew in story and assets. We encourage you to do your own research to form your own opinions! As we are never here to impose on them or tell you which games you should or should not support!
No one game can be like Stardew, stardew is masterpiece

I super appreciate that you actually associate Stardew Valley with high quality pixel art. Every other list I've seen has mostly been showing off 3D stuff which has a totally different feeling then pixel art does.

Thank you for putting moonlighter as one of the recommendation! I've had it long before I bought stardew valley, and love it so much because of the visual and gameplay (i just love pixelated games). Sun Haven is also another good one, and if you want something simpler (in term of storyline) but the similar gameplay, Forager is also a good option and it's available for co-op too.

Husband and I just started Graveyard keeper, and it is super addictive!! However, the game feels super incomplete without the DLCs. Fortunately, they are usually pretty cheap or on sale.

Just a note: Stardew Valley has only one developer, not multiple! (And same for Haunted Chocolatier, of course, since it's the same guy!)

I've also recently discovered Travellers Rest :) It's a bit more freeform than SV and has a lot of crafting involved, but it's fun! :)

Maybe you mentioned it in another video I haven't watched, but don't forget about Roots Of Pacha! It absolutely belongs on this list and came out recently. I played the Beta before release and it was already well developed and with the official release came so many more things! Highly recommend. 🤩

The zoo game looks cute, and I'm definitely getting Haunted Chocolatier. The only one not listed that I absolutely adore is Coral Island. I highly recommend it.

Useful video with good suggestions. For me timestamps would improve it as well as either multiple mentions of title or title on screen. Appreciate the platform info as lots of channels don't do that, which I find irksome

another similar game is Roots of Pacha! it's like a stone age stardew with more involved villagers and quite a nice story. it has pretty much the same concepts as well so you should definitely check it out :)

Verdant Skies has a little bit of a Stardew vibe while still being different enough to not just feel like someone jumping on the farming game hype wagon. It was pretty enjoyable. Also, Forager and My Time at Portia are a lot of fun, Ive put a ton of hours into both. I think my absolute favorite 'stardew-ish' game though is Sun Haven. It's like stardew but with more heavy fantasy elements and more adventuring. It's got a ton of content too.
Love to hear that! It's hard to have a cozy game without the main focus being farming. And YES! A lot of the community really love Sun Haven, and it's definitely on top of our list now. Thank you for the recs Warlocke!
There was some drama with Super Zoo Story. They ended up straight up copying assets from Stardew, and I know they legally had to change their assets. So I hope they find their own style because I'd love to play it!

They didn't copy assets, at all. Stardew fanboys claimed that Super Zoo Story was ripping off aspects by taking too much inspiration from Stardew by making some things too similar. What was the largest culprit that Super Zoo Story made identical? The grass and dirt... That's right. Stardew fans were mad that Super Zoo Story's grass and dirt were too identical to Stardew's. The dev of Super Zoo Story absolutely should have hired someone to respond to the controversy because his response was... not good but that doesn't change that the criticism was pretty stupid to begin with especially when Stardew, itself, took a ton of inspiration from Harvest Moon and made a slew of things extremely identical to it.
Roots is Pacha has just released which is a prehistoric farming game and I definitely match for anyone that loves SDV. Super Zoo story makes me feel uncomfortable as the art style is exactly like SDV and I mean EXACTLY…. I think I heard they were changing it so here’s hoping!

I don't see Dinkum in the replies, although I didn't read them all. Wonderful game. Build a town from scratch, farm, craft, raise animals, fish among other things all while doing so in the Outback. Cool game I have many hours in.

Sun Haven is great and a different focus than SDV with quite a bit of the same elements. If someone is really into decorating, then Sun Haven is the game for you for sure. The pixel art is amazing and all the ways you can customize make the game. SDV will always be my fav though. There is something about the Valley that warms my heart like no other game has been able to.
Brookhaven, roots of pacha , little witch in the woods, and like the comments below , sunhaven, coral island,..... I am currently addicted to Sandrock

Honestly I didn't know if I'd like a game like Stardew Valley so I played one called Harvest Town on mobile first, the one thing i didn't like about it was the controls and so I got Stardew on PC and then switch

Sun haven is the closest one to stardew valley...
I really hate the concept of multiple farms, once they introduced the 2nd farm thing i just stop playin it. Also the character design seem weird, not hating it just feels weird...
Do you think you could mention (or anyone else that's played them) if these games have a "main story" to complete or whether it's all open? I've heard of a few of these, but I always feel like I don't have the time to really invest in games like this when I have so many others to play! I have hundreds of hours in Stardew and that's just not commitment I can put into other games unless they have a story or objectives that I can finish and then dip in to occasionally
Understandable, time is valuable! Our guess is that the games on the list can't compare to the story you sound like you're looking for that Stardew offers. But of course, everything is subjective and everyone has their own opinions of that, so we'll leave the community to answer! 🤗

Graveyard Keeper is good for this. It's relatively short compared to the others on the list and the objectives are pretty straight-forward. It does have a MUCH darker theme though so it might not be for you if you don't like that sort of thing.
