For the people who didn't get the story:- Ira lives alone in a house where earlier about an year ago her father lived along too. the story starts when the maid is coking meal for her fathers first barsi. she has a maid working with her who knows her and her fathers choices very well (seems to be aqaunted for a long time) so now she is seen talking to her boyfriend who seemed to cheat on her for her best friend sheily, apart from this story, ira always tells her maid to cook some extra puuri and keep in a vessel. but everytime she would see that the kitchen window will remain open and the poories were less. the maid does not confess of cooking less or opening the window neither does ira does so. there is a pinch of paranormal behaviour in the house with the fatherly love for food shown. at the end, the dabba is seen to open by itself and the window too... this act makes the readers believe that her fathers soul use to visiy and eat the pooris. later ira also told maid to cook extra for "bin bulaye" guest
Father is still with the daughter and enjoys puri baji...... Daughter's life and her father's shayari goes together. Story does have any msg but potrayed the full bunch of feelings in relationships.....

The father lived through his writings. With his voice in the background and her's along with him, there is a hint that she wants to follow his footsteps and ideals. Poetry being the medium of communication. When she understood desires chain us, she could let go- of the fury, of the betrayal. Like her father, her ex arrives bin bulaye. His hunger for food is his hunger for the reunion. And his eating in her thali, the Desire for that lost connection. That she learns to forgive after venting out is because, she understood, life is fleeting, illusory, deceptive. The imagery of waves repeated again and again. Waves of time, waves of change. She bonds with the woman who drunkenly kisses her boyfriend shows it is men and their world of patriarchy that separates women and attempts to break solidarity. Often, the Other woman cannot be blamed when your Man chooses to cheat. The father died physically but remains with her through his writings, his little acts of belonging in the life of her daughter. He wanted his daughter to understand, we can't skip the pages of life. Every stamp in the passport is a watermark to a new discovery, tp a land of uncertainty, perhaps to an imaginary discovery, but the discovery in reality takes place within. You don't need to sojourn the unknown to become known to yourself. It can happen within the four walls of a room. But that the passport is kept in place again, proves, ultimately it is her Choice to live the life she wants. And the Father respects her desire. Although, with the pinch, even that discovery into the unknown may chain her. Moreover, the lost of trust by putting the phone camera on is the lost of faith in relationships. What goes on in the house, behind her. Though, it can be also translated as the welcoming of the bin bulaye. To trace the untraceable. Here, bin bulaye is : Death of her father, The Betrayal, the discovery of the dairy, the Solidarity of the two woman, the journey within, the sudden arrival of the ex, and the father's attempt to reach to her daughter.

These days I am watching Mandi whenever I find a little time at night. So, it is a slow progress. Now as I watch this, it reminds me of the dilapidated kotha in Mandi. Many films those days used to be in the ordinary backdrops of chawls, slums, middle class housings etc. These days, even a telefilm portrays very high end home with ornate decors, characters look from south Delhi and so they wear trendy dresses, maid looks elegant ... every frame is aesthetically picture perfect. But at the end (to my out of tune with time perspective), there is no soul and no real story in this 'award winning' short film.
I love the way she kept her friendship with her Best friend and later she forgives her boyfriend too....she lost her father a year ago and now she doesn't let go of her best friend and boyfriend even though they cheated on her.

Such a pretentious heavy handed film. The poetry is meaningless, the background score overwhelming, and the acting unfortunately does not live upto the stellar name of Ira Dubey. There are just huge lapses in teb direction, the scene between Dubey and her bf towards the end for example and the scene where Savita seems to be aware of the camera are just thrown in without any build up. Such a useless film
