    I don't own a study book that still has a spine. The first thing I do is cut it off, hole punch it, and put it in a binder; this way I can literally pull out the pages I need to review and put them aside. It's helped SO much.
    Every day is flashcards, walk/workout, study from various sources, review again via flashcards or from the actual material in the book. This structure had made a big difference in remembering but also not having to made decisions on what to do when, its just layed out and I just do it.

      If you're an Anki fan, then sure. It doesn't really matter what you use, the objective is to always be identifying and creating review materials that target your weaknesses... then setup a daily structured plan to cover that material - 7 days a week.

      @@usmleguys Hello Doctor, Is it the same thing as simply marking uworld questions with great explanations and images and redoing them everyday (not to improve the uworld score but) to review the explanations and any note I have in addition to that question?
      I did a similar thing with flash card but after sometime it felt tedious, like I was just memorizing as opposed to applying the knowledge. Please what do you think?
      Also, I'm already over 60% on uworld, do you think I should go back to my marked/incorrect to start making cards/notes or I should continue with questions and start making & reviewing notes/cards (basically following this routine) from now on and then go back to the marked questions after completing the Qbank and do the same?
      Thanks.

      Thanks doc! In this instance, you’re basically going to have to start from the beginning and use detailed resources and a longer plan to build your foundation. Consider using actual textbooks and/or class notes (if you recently went to school) to accomplish this goal. What Are your thoughts on doing a Anki reviews over qbank incorrects as a way to target weaknesses with space repetition?

    • @usmleguys
      @usmleguys  3 роки тому +3

      I wouldn't recommend skipping over your qbank incorrects, otherwise it'll be hard for you to come out of a block having identified issues that could potentially hurt you in the future (and learning from your mistakes). The best approach is to do a block, review it and take notes (either in a book, index cards, or make your own Ankis), then to have specific review periods throughout the day to work on your weaknesses. Don't substitute one essential thing for another, they're both important and will help you make the fastest and best progress.

      @user-nr3xi1xc6z 3 роки тому +3

      @@usmleguys I meant doing anki cards based on incorrect questions that I made! Would that count as as an effective way to target weaknesses or would it be necessary to do a deeper dive on weak areas (like re-watching pathoma videos etc.)?

    • @usmleguys
      @usmleguys  3 роки тому +1

      @@user-nr3xi1xc6z Yes, you want to make them specifically for your weaknesses, but make sure that you're not staying superficial when addressing those weaknesses... What I mean is that it's great to create your weakness-specific Ankis, but make sure that you take some time to fully and completely understand those topics so that when you review your weaknesses, you've got a solid understanding and not just a superficial one... Hopefully that makes sense.

      @@lakshayrastogi2327 Definitely makes sense... the main issue we see is students simply don’t learn from their mistakes, which leads to lack of progress and a student wondering why... so yes, continuing down the path is essential, we just need to ensure that some specific measure is in place to ensure consistent progress is being made and those same mistakes are in fact not going to be repeated over and over again.
