Unfortunately it'll be more than the rings. Hoping it is just the cylinder / piston and NOT the crank, but I would be cautious replacing just the top end without doing some serious investigation on the bottom end. Let me know what you find. I have a question nobody seems to know what I pulled my cylinder head off and turn it sideways. I am noticed to freeze plug looking things fell down on the ground. There is too little holes in the cylinder head on either side of the spark plug hole on the head. My question is are those actually two freeze plugs that go there? Somebody has been in this engine before just making sure if this cylinder head has to freeze plugs or not if so, then I know what I need to do. Thanks in advance your knowledge is very much appreciated and I watch alot of your videos. 👍🏻
That is a thought, but if you removed the spark plug and it still turns over slow then it is not the high compression issue. And a good battery will push through a damaged decompression spring. Let us know what you find!
Brilliant videos, this dude knows his stuff. I’m watching because I have a 2014 KQ AXi with and engine squeak that I can’t pin down. It reall bad initially then warms up and all but disappears but it’s getting worse. Suzuki dealer said auto clutch or stator. It’s not the auto clutch and it’s charging fine so neither of those. Looking this video the squeaking sounds like it’s coming from what I now know as the cam chain tensioner. Could it be that? Any help much appreciated
My 750 quad has a starting problem I put a new battery and starter on it and it is dragging still like the timing is off a bit or high compression I took the plug out and still not turning over fast enough. when it ran the last time it had plenty of power. then locked up??? but now it turns over again i'm confused. any tips thanks could the stater be melted rubbing inside, I have not tested it yes.
Bummer. I would say you piston is seizing up. Once your atv cools down it has enough clearance to turn over, but the cylinder walls / piston will be very scored up and will need replaced. Thanks for watching and the comment. Let me know if I can help. Check out: www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports for any parts or tools needed.
i have an 05 king quad 700, smokes a lot, but no running or starting issues. thinking valve guides. can it be done with motor still on bike or does it need to come off?
Usually, if the valve guides go bad, it only smokes for a couple seconds after sitting my king quad runs great drives great just smokes south the entire woods. Usually your spark plugs will clog up is the only thing and you will get built up on your valves.
Oh boy. Sounds like a loaded question. They all have their pros and cons. Actually not a Honda guy, but they do have their advantages. I own a King Quad and love it. The Yamahas would rival the number 1 spot for me though. Kawasaki isn't even on my list for ATV. Although their sports bikes are my favorite. Hope this helps. Thanks for the comment and for watching. And this crap only happens when an idiot doesn't let the engine warm up before riding it or revving the piss out of it. Same with any engine for that matter especially carburated engines specifically.... Can't fix stupid...

Auto d-Compression spring may be damaged ? I have not tore the motor apart yet

In your opinion which atv engine is more durable??.. Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda??

What's the highest mileage you've ever seen on an atv?

Yes or because of a failed ring that overtime fails to oil the cylinder, creating a score out of a scratch. Lack of maintenance.
