why is the subtitle font so... distracting
yeah it's in papyrus font lol. very oriental
They want to make sure the audience know this is cinematic art and we are watching the work of thespians.
These subtitles are a big improvement on anything Disney+ serves up.

Why wait 50 years to find the love of your life?
Sometimes life gets in the way. Also, 50 years ago everything was on paper. It would have been nearly impossible to track someone that far.
It describes him as a widower so he obviously lost Miku and couldn't find her so he eventually married another woman. After she passes is when the story takes place. I remember a story a few months or a year ago about old international lovers reconnecting after both of them lost their spouses.

0:15 I assume he was told he's going to die soon by a doctor, and then he realised for the first time that he has to find his love of his life Miko before he die.
