  • What do you think of the new habitat?
After the month passes and plants are bigger, we’ll start to further implement the Walstad method in full force to achieve our all natural ecosystem!
How I Built My 10g Shrimp Aquarium:
-Fluval Stratum base (soil for shrimps)
    -Java Moss
    -Monte Carlo
    -Sagittaria
    -Java Fern
    -Water Lettuce
    -Duckweed
    -Frogbit
    -Almond leaves
    -Driftwood piece(s)
    -10g aquarium
    -3 Red Cherry Shrimp
    -1 Neon Yellow Shrimp
    -1 Blue Velvet Shrimp
    -2 Amano Shrimp
    -Airstone, sponge filter and airpump
    -Tap water conditioner
    -Temperature thermometer
-No heater until summer AC (make sure water stays between 21 and 25 degrees celsius)
    I think that’s it!
Should I return & exchange the 2 Amanos for neons/velvets, or should I add the Amanos to the same tank and not worry? I don’t want the Amanos to eat the others. We should have babies soon too so have to protect them… Lmk!
And ofc, I always welcome all tips in my DMs or in the comments!💚🙏🦐
Thank you so much for watching my channel this week, I love you so much!

This might sound super sadistic but could you theoretically make yourself a shrimp farm with a big enough tank??

Hi Jessie! So excited for you on your shrimp journey! This is a very long comment (adhd info dump 😅) I wanted to answer some of the questions you asked in your video! I’ve had cherry shrimp and amanos living together for over 4 years now, and have kept lots and lots of different nano fish!
Amano shrimp are opportunistic feeders just like cherries and the rest of the shrimp. They won’t eat healthy shrimp and if provided with food you will have no issues with them eating other shrimp. You definitely have enough hiding spots for when babies arrive.
The amano shrimp (if you have males and females) will breed and produce babies. These will not survive in fresh water and will become a food source for all your tank inhabitants! You can try to raise them but even the most knowledgeable fish keepers have not figured out the perfect setup, so I wish you luck!
The monte cristo is a high light plant, it probs won’t survive…. But for a ton of tips and examples I recommend watching MD Fish tanks! He’s got toooonnsss of videos about filterless tanks and plants!
Brine shrimp (or sea monkeys) are salt water shrimp, they will not survive in your fresh water set up 😢 they are also a wonderful food source for fish haha I feed frozen baby brine (and sometimes live) to my fish, they are a favourite
To save money on water conditioner I HIGHLY recommend buying Prime, it’s super concentrated and better quality than the betta drops.
There are quite a few wonderful locally owned fish stores in Toronto area with super knowledgeable owners, I highly recommend going!
Aquarium coop is another wonderful info source on UA-cam! Same with Foo The Flowerhorn!
After about 4 months or so, you will have a huge boom of shrimp! I’ve started selling my shrimp to people in my area through a local facebook group. This way you can leave the tank setup and not disturb the perfect setup you have!
Also, in a city with lots of snow remember to double or triple your dose of water conditioner in the spring! Because of snow runoff the city ups the amount of chlorine, many fish have died because owners don’t know this 😢
Anyways, that’s all I have to say I think haha sorry for the long ass comment, I hope it helps some! If you have more questions I do love talking fish haha
Thanks for your fun videos! Keep up the awesome work! ❤ and good luck with your fishies!

Yay your progress is amazing as a beginner in the fish hobby. I have a 10g as well with some cherry shrimps that bred and had some tiny shrimps. You'll love it!:)

Just like to add that fishes will eat the brine shrimps and normal baby shrimps so keeping them in a separate tank is better.😊

I have an aquarium as well. I used to have a filter, but once my plants got crazy, I took the filter out, & my guppies just live to the fullest in there. I don't use a substrate cause I feel like it hides too much fish waste, but now you got me wanting to upgrade my tank with some shrimp! You have a ton of sea monkey babies, AWESOME! How lucky you are! I would suggest you not clean out their tank, I have a BAD feeling from watching other people do it, that you'll regret it afterwards. Better be safe than sorry, & "not fix, what's not broken." Good luck on the shrimp, I know they'll be happy.😊

I have 7shimp in my tank, I think they are happy as we had the about 1 1/2 years no babies but our fish breed so we had two platties now we have 5 nearly fully grown. There are 3 sliver fish not sure of name another fish with neon eye , a bottom. Feeder his new about 2 month he seems happy and one snail 🐌 we had two but must have passed he’s about 4 yrs old. We have not. Got real plants in our tank just ornaments, but the tank works. The shrimp amorous sometimes and chase each other around the tank as the females giving off hormones but I’ve not seen any baby shrimp. We very much love our fish tank and all that’s enough and if anything passes away we always give it a proper very wet side in the garden put a flower there. Fish know who both me and my partner and they know who feeds him who comes and talks to him. I talk to them a lot. They seem to frive and being spoken to. I’m going to start planting my seeds on Tuesday as it’s sowing time. last year my plants didn’t grow as good as the weather was a bit rubbish, but hopefully this year with the rays bed and another rays bed I should be able to grow sweetcorn and more pumpkins and lots of tomatoes and herbs and other plants too. Love your channel very much is always very interesting what you do. Sending love from East End of London Uk💖🐩🐩💖👍👍🪴🦋🦐🦐🕊🌈🇬🇧

Boyfriend: [Gives the shrimp a couple of fish flakes]
Jessie: 😡 Honey, we talked about this. If we don't remain united, they'll pick up on it.
Boyfriend: They just asked for a little after swim snack. Didn't you sweethearts?! 😍
    Jessie: 😒 push over.

Hi, love your videos but this is extremely improper husbandry. Please do your research. You didn’t cycle the tanks, you need much bigger tanks, and i will say good job trying to test the water but PH is nowhere near as important as ammonia. I see that you don’t want filters and heaters but you do need a heater at LEAST you also can not start a walstad aquarium without cycling. I can give more proper advice if you’d like. Ps. You don’t need co2 for plants unless you have things like baby tears or dwarf hair grass. (Just more complex plants)
    Just pls reevaluate your care.

I also know you got better care later on i just mean this comment about getting pets without proper research first!

all the shrimpies are thriving. we have a random scud/amphipod, snails, lots of random eggs all over, the plants are growing, everyone is so happy! one of the shimps is pregnant! we're golden!
