    It's surprising that Zakariya Razi (Al-Razi), an Iranian scientist, was not even mentioned in your video, given his significant contributions to the history of alcohol. As a pioneer in the field of alchemy and chemistry, Razi is credited with the discovery and isolation of ethanol, the type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages. He developed distillation techniques that allowed him to purify alcohol, which laid the foundation for modern chemical processes. His work not only influenced the production of alcohol for medicinal and practical uses but also contributed to the scientific understanding of alcohol's properties. His contributions are an important part of the history of alcohol, and I believe he deserves recognition for his role in its discovery and use.

      Should not add "al" as prefix to his name. Persian don't have that in their language and names. Besides, that makes people think he was arab as the speaker of this clip might have thought when referring to arabic texts.

    • @lechatquilit
      @lechatquilit 14 днів тому +3

      They did not mention anyone by name. Why should they make an exception for one particular scientist who wasn't the inventor of either alcohol or the process of distillation? Important contributions -- sure, but there were thousands of people who made significant contribution to these fields of human activity. The video did not mention any of them by name.

    The amazonian alcohol with hallucinogenic herbs sounds pretty sweet.

    • @fahn777
      @fahn777 4 роки тому +6

      Chicha (the Amazonian alcohol mentioned) is made by chewing maize into a coarse paste. The amylase in saliva breaks down the starches of the kernals into simple sugars, so they in turn can be converted to alcohol by microorganisms. Chicha is still drank in parts of South America today, and a place that sells it is called a Chicharia. Chicha is made almost exclusively by women; in fact, women on average produce more amylase in their saliva than men, so they're naturally more suited to the task. Chicha also tends to be low in alcohol content, no more than 4% ABV.

      (Colombian) Yes, but hallucinogenics aren't use in chicha for years, because, you know, it's a problem use or sell allucinogens here. But yes, chicha is delicious, i can't explain the taste, it's like citric but sweet, and yeah, the percent is 4%, because the point with the chicha is a balance, when the chicha "se pasa" it's because the alchol content grow up, and the taste is to strong, to drink. And, NOT, is not so easy to do (i wish) jajajaja

Geber is acknowledged to be the father of the science of chemistry.
