Please subscribe- Needed a bee vacuum ASAP so I made this and it worked perfectly. 99% of bee survived- don’t forget the holes or you’ll have minced bees. Simple.
So to help people- leave the blue filter on, I only took off to show the water plug being removed. The holes in the side control the suction so you won’t harm the bees going in the bucket. It actually doesn’t take much force to suck in a flying insect. I don’t remember the size of the but that used. Just make sure your hole is a couple sizes smaller than a cell in the hive. I did, make a slight change to my design. I found a 4” knockout pvc plug and I put that on the bottom. Then instead of opening the top. Just take out the plug and bang it down on the hive and they will go right into the hive. Lastly, don’t be afraid to put too many holes, I believe that I put one every inch all the way around. You can always put tape over some if not enough suction.
This is what I am planning to do. I see so many people with these super complex bee vacuum and multi chamber deals and I’m just asking: why not just vent the vacuum chamber and otherwise just use it like a regular vacuum? Why does everything have to be so complicated in this hobby?

Nothing, they will be fine. You can reduce the size of their entrance if you haven’t already.

Yes, if you remove it, the bees will get sucked through the motor.
I have the same question about leaving the blue cover on or not.
Yes or the bees will get sucked through the fan. I left it off to show in the video and only had 1 hand free. GL
DON"T USE THIS DESIGN ! The 90 degree angle where the vacuum comes into the head will kill bees.
That is why there are the holes in the bucket. This allows you to control the suction. No dead bees from using it.
