The vocals on thier self titled album have an odd sound. I'm a huge clutch fan and when I got thier ST album I didnt dig it as much as the others. Then I saw Escape from the Prison Planet and Spacegrass played live at my first Clutch concert and I gave it some more play. Now....its one of my top 5 albums of all time and a stoner metal classic. Which is funny because I wouldnt classify Clutch as metal, but that's just how damn good they are.
Like Marlon Brando, but bigger. You'll find that creature at the bottom of the deep down Susquehanna River. This one I had stood right on up to me, Tore out his hook and declared himself a prodigy. But oh no, fishing ain't what it used to be. I've seen some bad years, but this one is just killing me. One little nibble in thirteen years, I really pack 'em in. This one I had, I seen it in dreams, All shacked up with lightning and horizon beams. That is of the rock's golden gods
Do yourself a favor and google "the body of John Wilkes-Booth." The actual body of John Wilkes-Booth was bought by various carnival shows as an attraction for people to gawk at. It never did well. The "body" was bought a few times over but no one could make a go of it. And I could be wrong but one time it sold for a million dollars. "Like Marlon Brando but bigger." Brando also stated that he would do any movie if they paid him a million dollars. So, in closing, this track has many layers of meaning.
The original, the one, and ONLY bass player for Clutch. There has never been a change in lineup other than adding organ/harmonica/etc. The four have always been together from the beginning.

@bob bobo Totally agree! It's immeasurable fun looking up Neil's references. So richly layered.

The original bass player of 17 or so years, Dan Maines.
