How a tarantula builds a trapdoor lid on its burrow
Вставка

- This video shows the incredible task of building a trapdoor lid on a tarantulas burrow. The whole process took 13 hours to complete. One of the most significant moments to enjoy is when the tarantula uses its fangs as a pick tool to dig out some soil.
The editing was extremely challenging, most "still" scenes had to be trimmed out of the video to allow it to be shortened to 8 minutes.
Enjoy.
The species in the video is Pterinochilus lugardi - www.tarantupedia.com/harpacti... - Наука та технологія
I wonder what is going through this spider's brain during this whole process. Like, here I am, a tarantula, and I live in the ground and build trap doors because that's what I do.
+PONYBOYonline that spider is probably smarter than you... lol
geronkt79 ...lol
+PONYBOYonline We are animals too, not a big diference. We have comunication and development skills and think we deserve eternal life. But in the end is the same, have a place of your own if required, eat, fart, f....
+PONYBOYonline Well I suppose its doing more with its life than I am. 12AM on a Saturday night and apparently i'm watching a spider build a door. No regrets.
+XxUndeadXTacoXx Not that bad, you know more about tarantulas that what they know about us, hope so...
It's pretty interesting to see the spider judge the quality of the door it's making, going back and using more silk, feeling the weight of it, and making sure it has the coverage it needs to be completely concealed.
Really amazing to see such intelligent hunting techniques used in such an effective manner.
As a spider, he ain't gonna live there, he seems to be a builder, yup I k ow him, he is builder Dan and I rented a trapdoor of him before I rented a Web then a corner, I liked the cornor so I bought it
its weird they don't have brains they're just a string of nerves and dna
As much as I abhor spiders, this video makes me think twice about knocking down a web or a foundation of theirs. That work ethic demands respect!
It is to bad my big head knocks it down when i walk underneath a tree
It would be like a tornado going through your house. Lol
I hate it when I walk into a spider web. You'll know it if I do. Lol
I think I’ll think twice about how to spell
why would you abhor spiders? someone who calls themselves Deep Poetic Society should take a more poetic view of the world all around and look for the beauty in things instead of succumbing to knee jerk negativity. spiders are amazing and beautiful creatures with complex bodies and behaviours who have survived in all corners of the world for hundreds and hundreds of times longer than humans. don't despise them, appreciate them and learn from them
@@SuperLoops say what you want, but them hoes creep me tf out. Scorpions? Fine by me. Snakes? They're cool. Spiders? FUUUCK *NO*
That feeling when a spider has more patience than you.
well they only eat and drink once in a long while, in between that all it really needs to do it build, molt, and be a spider.
Robert Dicke also being slapped by newspaper
I’m gonna guess it has nothing better to do anyways

Just admiring of how much of a perfectionist this spider is. The spider never stops adjusting the whole vid

Way better than most craftsmen these days!
omg the way it uses its fangs to gather dirt is so damn adorable. what a cutie!!
13 hours... Just incredible. I dislike spiders too, but this is most definitely a perfect form of architecture. Not rushed, and done right the first time. Kudos to this guy.
I love how it uses its fangs to grab the dirt like "Gimme some of dis"
Now just add two mini windows on each side and a sign ontop saying "Welcome"
Tuneless Steak Haha that would be amazing.
Tuneless Steak that's the awesomest thing in 2016-2017-2016
You mean..." Welcome insects and small animals"

Wow this spider worked 13 hours straight and some of us complain about our 8 hour shifts.
+Hisoka Why would anyone complain about working too many hours? Less hours less money right?
+ZombieFetish more hours less life, i'm not on this planet to waste my whole life working
we are not spiders?? you know??
Mario712145 I was thinking the same thing
Mario712145 yes , but after that the spider just stays in the hole doing nothing, just grabs what's near the hole and eats it
*What a beautiful nope making a door for its little house. :)*

I love your Sussie profile pic 😂

It’s quite calming to see how patient they are. The music makes it even calmer
This is strangely adorable
Imagine some jerk walks buy and pokes a stick in there after the poor tarantula worked on its trapdoor for 12 hours.

There's a magic to how graceful and patient spiders are. I believe that anyone who has arachnophobia would watch this and most likely their fear of them would be replaced by respect and understanding. The lovely music helps a lot too. Nice one 👍
People with the dislikes what did ye expect to happen when ye clicked on the video that the spider was gonna make a new civilization in a 5 min video😂
Jamie Huggins just because you choose to do something doesn’t mean you don’t regret it. Look at divorce court. I hated this video and I’m disliking it too but not because it’s bad but because it’s worth the watch and liking or disliking and commenting and viewing the full video are believed to help the algorithm push videos.
@@Canzary so because you did not like it personally because you don't like spiders or what not the vid gets a thumbs down? if you sell something on the marketplace and you get thumbs down because someone doesn't like the object you sell how would that make you feel. i and i think most of us don't care at all if you like spiders or not. it was a good video and the effort of post editing it so we could watch 13 hours in a few minutes deserves a thumbs up on it's own regardless the subject.

i think i lost hatred for spider through this video... except for black widows i still hate them
Black widows and giant huntsman spiders (largest spider on earth) are creepy. other than that I don't really mind them
@@vanhalenfan1015 dont think it was real but i saw a picture of a giant albino tarantula it looked like a big fluffy white cat with multiple legs and multiple red eyes was actually kind of adorable almost looked pet-able if it was for the fact that it looked bigger then my hand
Honestly I just found out that if you get bitten by a black widow you won't die if your not allergic so now I don't really bother killing them. If I see one I pick it up and put it best to a tree
@@dr.dylansgame5583 Tarantula's are pet-able
If it helps, Black Widows don’t attack people on purpose unless threatened. Even then they’ll sometimes bite with no or less venom as a warning as they don’t exactly enjoy biting mammals.
You know what, I have a terrible fear of spiders but watching this video made me realise the beauty of nature. This is absolutely incredible. You've earned yourself a new subscriber and a like! Thank you for showing me this beautiful video. I'm incredibly grateful. :3

Wow, I hate spiders, but this is beautiful. I hope that beautiful creature gets the catch of his life. Hard little worker. I feel bad that I hate spiders after watching this. It's actually adorable...
Spiders help stabilize nature by catching bugs, if 1 spider can catch 1 bug a day than a million spider will catch a million bug a day :)
Without spiders mosquitos, locusts, flies and other insects would overrun the world and eat us alive ;-;
T-thank you spider senpai...
how is this even possible for someone to hate spiders? there is no cooler insect in the whole world.
João Pedro Bento Morgado Actually there are but you know, subject to opinion. I personally find spiders awesome, there's one that builds a hand net (or leg net) and catches it's prey with that net. They are very cool but there are more insects out there that are cooler.
Spiders are not insects, they are arachnids
If the tarantula only knew that this amazing piece of music would be put to his nest building, he would be so proud

@@DevonnyDX LOL
Spiders are kinda their own worst enemy for me. They look so cute, intriguing and intelligent when you watch one close-up, doing things like wrapping up an insect, repairing / spinning its web, walking around on a little adventure... but as soon as they get spooked they turn into a terrifying, lightning-fast, hellish ball of legs and hair that I just can't get over.
The oddest thing is I don't mind the fat-bum spiders, I can handle them easily, it's specifically just the bigger house spiders that get me... childhood trauma? :
Yeah cause I don't mind tarantulas apart from their fangs, but huntsmen spiders scare the shit out of me.
+Kenzi and Stuff exact same thing for me. yet I'm still fascinated by spiders, I've watched tons of videos on them and have a newfound respect for them every time I watch a video but that doesn't mean I don't imagine/feel a spider crawling on me when I'm watching them. its the large skinny legged spiders that really get to me such as the huntsman that we have in Florida and the orb weavers type
+sexc bonnie its just evolution really, spiders aren't worth the risk that they might be poisonous for the meat they provide so humans are just scared of them.

You did an amazing job on this video 7 years ago - there isn't a better version of a time lapse trap door construction to be found on UA-cam! Bravo - utterly fascinating.
The intelligence, consciousness and determination behind this project is mind boggling. If you don't believe there's a power greater than all of us after watching this video, you never will!
it's amazing how these creatures just "know" how to do stuff without anyone ever teaching them aside from genetic memory.. wish our parents could impart their knowledge to us through the same way

Keep seeing these foot diameter mounds of moist fluffy soil at my New Mexico high desert retreat. On one of our walks, we passed a new mound with the 2 inch hole still exposed, and on the walk back *less than an hour later* the hole was covered, though you could still see the outline of it. I suspected they were Tarantula burrows, but never had the heart to poke around to see for sure. This video leaves no doubt, thank you! Apparently it doesn't take nearly 13 hours for Tarantulas to build their door if they have more user friendly soil. In one area about 30 ft diameter, I found over two dozen mounds.
Aww he’s all like
“ i is gunna makes a doors so me and my fwiends can use our secret knock lol”
You know, I hate spiders in general and have almost lost my leg to a brown recluse bite while in the Army, but I cannot deny their intelligence. They are probably one of the smartest arachnids known to man. So I salute them for that (as long as they do not come ANYWHERE NEAR ME)!!!!!

ive got pet tarantulas and I watched my Orange Biter make part of its web tunnel it was amazing to watch it work and carry bits of substrate to where it wanted them and put silk to hold it all together and its only a small spider its like 4cm wide not nearly fully grown yet but it made a cosy house for itself

so interesting. Thank you for sharing. I have a hole just a few feet from the front door and I believe it's a tarantula as I've seen movement and now it's too the point of sitting for a bit longer before running away. It'll be interesting to see if it builds anything over the top of the hole.
wtf those kind of spiders are too intelligent that its scary
Every animal is intelligent
+Ellie Games yeah but this one is too intelligent its making a freakin trap door
They don't rely on things like blue prints. They rely on instinct. It's truly beautiful
+znovosad555 nah trapdoor aint instinc the spider learned it, its too elaborate to be instinc, i mean have you seen an animal made something like that ? crabs dont put lid on their burrows, they just have to burrow, thats instincs, but this spider is different, he know that he will be found if he didn't put a lid on his borrow but he also know that if he just fill it with his web it will be too unnatural so he filled it with sand above, ist that too elaborate to be instinc ? that spider is freakin intelligent
+nope army it is instinct. isolate them from birth and they will still do it. just because you cant imagine instinct being that strong and specific doesn't mean it doesn't
